Run magic penetration marks and AP quints so Doran's Ring Q trades and Infinite Duress bite hard early. Armor seals and MR glyphs keep you steady while the build moves into Ninja Tabi, Iceborn Gauntlet, and Spirit Visage bruiser stats.

Take 21 offense because the lane is won through Q damage, AP from Doran's Ring, and magic damage on ult, then add 9 defense for the top-lane trades before Tabi, Iceborn, and Spirit Visage come online.

Why these items

Openingsall within the 475 starting gold

  • Doran's Ring

Doran's Ring startUse this for the aggressive AP lane plan where you want your Q to chunk early and your last-hits to refund mana.

Corein buy order

  • 1

Doran's Ring400gDoran's Ring gives the AP and mana refund that make the early Q poke plan work.

  • 2

Ravenous Hydra3,300gRavenous Hydra is the first major spike, adding wave clear, lifesteal, and more damage during ultimate.

  • 3

Ninja Tabi1,000gNinja Tabi helps handle the repeated physical damage from Nasus and Wukong.

  • 4

Iceborn Gauntlet3,250gIceborn Gauntlet gives armor, mana, cooldown reduction, and a slow field that keeps targets stuck after Infinite Duress ends.

  • 5

Spirit Visage2,750gSpirit Visage gives health, magic resist, 20% cooldown reduction, and stronger self-healing for Warwick's Q, lifesteal, and ultimate windows.

Situationalonly when the game asks for it

  • Blade of The Ruined King3,200gBlade of the Ruined King was considered for its repeated current-health damage during Warwick ultimate.

  • Wit's End2,150gWit's End was considered when magic resist and on-hit damage looked useful.

  • Spirit of the Ancient Golem2,000gSpirit of the Ancient Golem was considered as a health and tenacity option.

  • Runic Bulwark2,950gRunic Bulwark was considered as a later defensive/team aura option.

  • Warmog's Armor3,000gWarmog's Armor was considered when the build needed a straight health buy.

  • Sunfire Cape2,650gSunfire Cape was considered as another health-and-armor option.

  • Doran's Blade475gDoran's Blade was considered on an awkward recall because Warwick uses the extra early combat stats well.

Notes

the author's own words

Start the lane by playing around Q damage and sustain. Q does not pull minion aggro in Classic, so keep tagging the enemy laner while also autoing minions to stay healthy and refill mana through Doran's Ring. When you have kill pressure, stack Warwick passive on the same target before committing, then finish with auto into Q so they cannot simply Flash away from the burst.

The build turns into a bruiser setup after the lane start. Ravenous Hydra gives the big first spike, wave clear, lifesteal, and extra ultimate damage. Ninja Tabi answers the physical pressure, Iceborn Gauntlet adds armor, CDR, mana, and a long slow after ultimate, then Spirit Visage pushes the healing and cooldowns even harder so your ultimate is up constantly.
