Dr. Mundo
The Madman of Zaun
How this differs from the live game
- Burning Agony (W) is a toggle of damage AoE around him
- Masochism (E) is a buff for a time not an attack
- Adrenaline Rush (P) regenerates health over time

- Magic Penetration +9.00

- Magic Resist +12.60
- Move Speed +4.50%
Magic penetration marks are for Infected Cleaver and Burning Agony, Mundo's real damage spells; attack damage or AP marks do little for this page's lane plan. Armor seals and MR glyphs cover Season 3 top trades, while movement speed quints help land Cleavers, escape ganks, and stick with Sadism.
Use 21/9/0 with 21 in Defense and 9 in Offense: Mundo wants the Defense keystone because his job is to absorb damage while his base spell damage and health purchases carry fights. The 9 Offense points give better last-hitting and physical follow-up during Masochism trades.
Skill order
ultimate at 6, 11 and 16Adrenaline Rush
- Infected Cleaver (Q) takes points at levels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.
- Burning Agony (W) takes points at levels 4, 8, 10, 12, 13.
- Masochism (E) takes points at levels 2, 14, 15, 17, 18.
- Sadism (R) takes points at levels 6, 11, 16.
Max Q first for safe farming, poke, and health-based damage, then W for wave control and sustained fights, with E finished last after an early rank for trading. Level 1 Q keeps bad top matchups playable; level 2 E lets you punish melee last-hits.
Alternative — Max E second instead of W against melee lanes where you can repeatedly auto-trade and do not need Burning Agony for wave control.
Why these items
Openingsall within the 475 starting gold
Doran's Shield start — Default into basic-attack harass or bruiser lanes; the health regen and Shieldwall make early Cleaver farming much safer.
Flask sustain start — Use into poke or lanes where you expect repeated short trades and need refillable sustain before your first health item.
Rejuvenation start — Greedy sustain-and-ward start for lanes you can survive without Doran's Shield, especially when early jungle pressure is the main danger.

1Sunfire Cape2,650gSunfire Cape was the classic top Mundo armor-and-health spike, adding wave clear and constant damage while he stands in melee range with Burning Agony.
2Spirit Visage2,750gSpirit Visage amplifies Adrenaline Rush, Sadism, and all health regeneration, making it Mundo's defining Season 3 defensive item.
3Warmog's Armor3,000gWarmog's Armor gives the huge health pool that Mundo converts into stronger passive regen, safer ultimates, and harder-to-kill front-lining.

Ninja Tabi1,000gBuy Ninja Tabi instead of Mercury's Treads against heavy physical damage or auto-attack top/jungle threats when crowd control is not the main issue.

Force of Nature2,610gBuy Force of Nature against double-AP or sustained magic damage when you value movement speed and regeneration more than Spirit Visage's cooldown reduction.

Thornmail2,200gBuy Thornmail when the enemy carry or top laner is a lifesteal-heavy basic attacker and your team needs you to punish them for hitting you.

Guardian Angel2,750gBuy Guardian Angel as a late defensive slot when one extra life lets you soak cooldowns and continue zoning after Sadism is down.

Quicksilver Sash1,550gBuy Quicksilver Sash against one fight-losing suppression or long hard-CC effect that Mercury's Treads and Burning Agony are not enough to cover.

Magic penetration marks are for Infected Cleaver and Burning Agony, since support Mundo's lane pressure is spell damage rather than AD scaling. Armor seals, MR glyphs and movement speed quints help him walk into brush and land cleavers without gold-heavy items.
This is a legal 0/9/21 support page: Utility reaches Nimble for income, summoner cooldowns and movement, while Defense takes enough early points to unlock Veteran's Scars. The fix removes one point from Awareness and moves Unyielding into Resistance so the Defense row-2 unlock is valid.

Not the author's. This is a 21 Defense / 9 Offense Mundo page for the author's health-stacking tank build: Sunfire Cape, Spirit Visage, Warmog's Armor, Frozen Mallet, and Randuin's Omen. Defense takes the health, resists, regeneration, crowd-control reduction, Juggernaut, and Honor Guard that fit that item path, while Offense keeps the summoner improvement and early spell-side damage/CDR support. Matchup against
62 champions, one-on-one
AhriEven
Mundo can outlast Ahri if he keeps landing Cleavers, but Charm into Orb of Deception gives her enough control and true damage to kite him before Sadism takes over.
Watch for Charm: it stops Mundo's chase and guarantees both passes of Orb of Deception.
How to beat
Hold mid range where Infected Cleaver can tag her but Spirit Rush cannot immediately turn into a full combo. Walk sideways until Charm is down, then chase through Fox-Fire with Burning Agony and force her dashes defensively. Do not ult after she has already created distance unless a Cleaver slow is active.
Later Finished Mundo is harder for Ahri to kill in a side lane, but she is better at leaving the duel and finding picks. In teamfights, absorb Charm pressure for your backline only if Sadism is ready; otherwise flank from fog and make her spend Spirit Rush away from your carries.
- If Charm misses, she has no reliable way to stop Burning Agony from keeping you on top of her.
- Do not chase directly behind Orb of Deception; the return true damage is the part that matters.
- Cleaver her after the first Spirit Rush dash, not before, so the slow taxes the remaining charges.

AkaliFavoured
Mundo's health, sustained damage, and Burning Agony reveal-by-proximity fighting style make Akali struggle to burst or hide long enough to win an extended duel.
Watch for Twilight Shroud: it denies basic attacks and buys time for Mark of the Assassin and Shadow Dance charges.
How to beat
Stand inside or on the edge of Twilight Shroud with Burning Agony running so she cannot freely reset the fight. Save Cleaver for when she exits or dashes to you, then keep the slow chained while Masochism trades into her short range. Commit once she spends Shadow Dance charges forward, because she has fewer ways to leave than to enter.
Later Mundo wins most side-lane all-ins unless Akali is far ahead or can use terrain and shroud to stall forever. In teamfights, she will ignore you for carries, so peel with Cleaver slows rather than chasing her into the backline alone.
- Do not waste Cleaver blindly into Twilight Shroud if she can sidestep inside it.
- Her Mark of the Assassin proc is the real damage window; back off briefly if she tags you before the all-in starts.
- Sadism before the second Shadow Dance chain keeps you above her execute-style burst pattern.

AlistarFavoured
Alistar can interrupt and disengage, but he does not have the sustained damage to beat Mundo through passive healing, Burning Agony, and Sadism.
Watch for Headbutt: it breaks your chase and can punt you out after you spend Sadism.
How to beat
Do not judge the fight by the first engage; Alistar wants to Pulverize, Headbutt away, and reset. Keep walking back into Cleaver range and wait out Unbreakable Will before committing real damage. If he uses Headbutt aggressively instead of defensively, turn on Burning Agony and stay glued to him.
Later Mundo wins the side lane, but Alistar's value is in teamfight displacement, not dueling. Ignore him unless he is isolated after Unbreakable Will; otherwise walk past him and threaten the carries he is trying to protect.
- Cleaver after Headbutt lands so he cannot simply walk out afterward.
- Do not burn damage into Unbreakable Will unless you are only keeping him from recalling or escaping.
- Burning Agony helps reduce the impact of his crowd control chain while you keep moving.

AmumuEven
Mundo has better single-target sticking power, but Amumu's Despair deals percent-health damage and makes a long tank duel much closer than it looks.
Watch for Despair: it turns Mundo's huge health pool into a liability during extended melee range trades.
How to beat
Fight in short cycles: Cleaver, a few Masochism hits, then step out of Despair if he is not slowed. Dodge or bait Bandage Toss before using Sadism, because getting locked in place lets him keep Despair ticking for free. Commit when Curse of the Sad Mummy is down or when you have enough health to run through it without losing the chase.
Later Neither kills the other quickly when finished, but Mundo usually controls the side lane better because Cleaver lets him choose when to continue. In teamfights, Amumu's ultimate is more decisive, so spread from your carries and punish him after he spends Curse.
- Do not stand still trading inside Despair just because you are winning the health bar early.
- Bandage Toss missing is your best window to force him to walk through repeated Cleavers.
- If he ults only you, accept it and keep him away from the rest of your team.

AniviaUnfavoured
Anivia's slows, wall, stun, and Rebirth give her too many tools to deny Mundo the sustained contact he needs.
Watch for Crystallize: it cuts off Mundo's chase path and can waste most of Sadism's duration.
How to beat
Stay at Cleaver range and make her spend Flash Frost before you walk into Glacial Storm. If she walls behind you, retreat sideways instead of through the storm; if she walls herself off, take the space and reset. Only commit after Flash Frost is down and a Cleaver has landed, because killing the egg without uptime is unrealistic.
Later Anivia wins controlled teamfight zones and can stall side lanes almost forever, while Mundo only wins if he catches her away from terrain with cooldowns down. Late, flank from angles that make Crystallize awkward and use Banshee's Veil or Mercury's Treads to preserve the first engage.
- Do not ult just to run through Glacial Storm unless Flash Frost has already missed.
- Her egg means your first kill is not enough; save enough health and cooldowns to finish Rebirth.
- Cleaver from diagonals makes it harder for her to answer with a straight Flash Frost.

AnnieEven
Mundo can survive Annie's first rotation with the right timing, but Pyromania into Summon: Tibbers can burst and stun him long enough to lose control of the duel.
Watch for Pyromania stun: it turns Disintegrate, Incinerate, or Tibbers into a guaranteed burst window before Mundo can heal freely.
How to beat
Watch her stun count and do not walk into Tibbers range while Pyromania is ready. Poke with Cleaver until she spends the stun or uses Molten Shield defensively, then activate Sadism before the second spell rotation. Once Tibbers is down, keep moving so the bear does not add free damage while you chase Annie herself.
Later Mundo can side-lane into Annie if he respects the stun burst, but teamfights are where her instant AoE matters more. Late, force her to stun you instead of your carries only when Sadism and magic resist are ready; otherwise approach from the side and make her choose between peeling and bursting.
- Her stun indicator changes the fight more than her raw cooldowns do.
- Do not auto into Molten Shield longer than needed; Cleaver and movement are safer while it is up.
- If Tibbers misses as an engage, the duel swings heavily toward Mundo.

AsheUnfavoured
Ashe wins a clean open-space duel if she keeps Frost Shot applied, but Mundo can turn it if a Cleaver lands before she has room to kite.
Watch for Frost Shot: repeated basic-attack slows deny Mundo sustained melee uptime.
How to beat
Do not run at her from max range in a straight lane; fish for Infected Cleaver from brush, fog, or after Volley is used. If Cleaver lands, keep cutting off her path rather than following behind her, and save Sadism for after Enchanted Crystal Arrow or when you are already in chase range. If the arrow is available and you have no tenacity, assume your first commit can be stopped.
Later Ashe wins teamfights by controlling your approach, while Mundo threatens side lanes if he can start close enough to land Cleaver. Late, buy anti-auto and slow resistance tools, then flank instead of front-walking through Volley and Frost Shot.
- Boots of Swiftness matter more here than extra damage if she is playing pure kite.
- A point-blank Enchanted Crystal Arrow is still enough to create distance for Frost Shot resets.
- Cleaver her after Volley, since Volley can mask her movement and punish your straight approach.

BlitzcrankFavoured
Blitzcrank's crowd control is annoying, but pulling Mundo into melee usually gives Mundo the long fight he wants.
Watch for Rocket Grab: it can drag Mundo under turret or into minions before the duel really starts.
How to beat
In a true isolated duel, let him spend Rocket Grab or sidestep it, then punish the long cooldown with Cleaver and Burning Agony. If he holds Power Fist, do not panic ult before the knockup; use Sadism after the CC chain when you can actually chase. Respect Mana Barrier and keep hitting through it instead of assuming he is dead at low health.
Later Mundo wins the side-lane duel, but Blitzcrank is picked for hooks in teamfights. Stand where a hook on you is acceptable if Sadism is ready, and punish him hard when Rocket Grab misses or hits the wrong target.
- Being grabbed in open ground is often good for Mundo; being grabbed under turret is not.
- Mana Barrier makes his last 20 percent take longer than expected.
- Burning Agony reduces the value of his knockup silence chain by keeping damage going while you are controlled.

BrandUnfavoured
Brand's percent-health passive and spell chain punish Mundo's health stacking and can burn him down before Sadism outheals the damage.
Watch for Blaze: every spell adds percent maximum-health burn, making extended trades dangerous for Mundo.
How to beat
Stay just outside Conflagration range and make him aim Sear or Pillar of Flame before you commit. If he lands a spell and threatens the Sear stun, break line or sidestep before continuing the chase. All-in only after Sear misses or is used without a stun, then keep enough distance from minions to reduce Pyroclasm bounces.
Later Brand remains dangerous to Mundo in teamfights because his area damage burns tanks while hitting carries. In side lane Mundo can run him down if Brand misses Sear, but late fights require magic resist and flank angles instead of walking through his full combo.
- Do not fight him inside a minion wave when Pyroclasm is ready.
- A Blaze-marked Sear is the stun check; respect it more than the raw missile damage.
- Sadism before the full combo lands is better than using it after Blaze has already stacked your health down.

Cho'GathUnfavoured
Cho'Gath matches Mundo's durability while adding silence, knockup control, and Feast's true damage finisher.
Watch for Feast: it ignores Mundo's resistances and can finish him before Sadism has time to recover health.
How to beat
Do not take a full melee brawl while Feast is available and you are near execute range. Bait Rupture with lateral movement, then trade with Cleaver and Masochism during its cooldown, backing off before Feral Scream prevents your next cast. Commit only if he misses Rupture and you are healthy enough that Feast cannot end the fight.
Later Cho'Gath is harder to force out of side lane, and his silence plus rupture zone can matter more in grouped fights. Mundo should not tunnel on killing him late; pressure waves, land Cleavers on carries, and avoid giving Cho a clean Feast reset target.
- Feral Scream can stop the Cleaver or Sadism timing you were relying on.
- Rupture is easier to dodge if you do not chase in a straight line after landing Cleaver.
- Track your health against Feast, not against his visible DPS.

CorkiUnfavoured
Corki's mixed damage, armor shred, mobility, and true-damage attacks make him one of the ranged duelists Mundo struggles to pin down.
Watch for Valkyrie: it resets the distance after Mundo lands Cleaver and leaves damage on the path he wants to chase through.
How to beat
Force Valkyrie with Cleaver pressure before using Sadism as a real all-in. Do not chase straight through the Valkyrie trail unless the slow is already on him and he has no follow-up missiles to kite with. Once Gatling Gun starts shredding armor, either fully commit into melee or disengage; hovering in the cone is the worst trade.
Later Corki usually wins open side-lane spacing if he keeps Valkyrie for Mundo's engage, while Mundo is better at absorbing poke for his team. Late, build mixed durability and use flanks or brush to start close enough that Corki cannot simply fly away.
- Gatling Gun punishes half-commits; leave the cone or get on top of him.
- Cleaver after Valkyrie is much more valuable than Cleaver before it.
- His passive true damage means armor alone never solves the duel.

EvelynnFavoured
Evelynn's burst and camouflage are built for picks, but in a straight duel Mundo's health and sustained damage outlast her once she is revealed.
Watch for Agony's Embrace: it front-loads damage and a slow that can let Evelynn disengage after her combo.
How to beat
Keep health high when she is missing, because she wants to start with the first spell rotation already in melee. After Agony's Embrace lands, use Sadism and chase with Cleaver rather than blowing everything before she commits. If she tries to leave with Dark Frenzy speed, one Cleaver usually turns the fight back into Mundo's range.
Later Mundo wins the isolated duel, but Evelynn's real threat is bypassing him to reach carries. In teamfights, hold Cleaver for her reveal or post-ultimate escape instead of throwing it at the frontline.
- Do not waste Cleaver before she uses her speed to disengage.
- Her camouflage changes the start of the fight, not the result once she is stuck near you.
- Sadism after her ultimate slow keeps you moving through the burst window.

EzrealUnfavoured
Ezreal can kite Mundo with Mystic Shot cooldown resets and Arcane Shift, so Mundo only wins if he lands repeated Cleavers after Ezreal's escape is down.
Watch for Arcane Shift: it breaks Mundo's first engage and creates enough space for Mystic Shot kiting to restart.
How to beat
Hold Cleaver until he either uses Arcane Shift or paths predictably after Mystic Shot. Approach from angles where Arcane Shift cannot cross a wall or create a full screen of distance, then ult only once a Cleaver has connected. If he keeps five Rising Spell Force stacks, disengage briefly so his sustained damage drops before the next attempt.
Later Ezreal is favored in open side-lane space, while Mundo becomes more useful as a frontliner who can absorb poke and force Ezreal to Arcane Shift defensively. Late, do not chase him alone through long lanes unless you have flank position or slow resistance.
- A missed Mystic Shot slows his whole rotation; that is your walk-up window.
- Do not throw Cleaver into Arcane Shift unless you are predicting the landing spot.
- Essence Flux lowering attack speed matters less than his ability to keep distance.

FiddlesticksEven
Mundo can break Fiddlesticks' Drain pressure with movement and Cleavers, but Terrify and Crowstorm punish any commit made without cooldown tracking.
Watch for Drain: if Mundo cannot break range, Fiddlesticks heals through the trade while dealing steady magic damage.
How to beat
Stay at the edge of Drain range and be ready to walk out as soon as the tether starts. Bait Terrify before activating Sadism; if you ult into fear, he gets free Drain or Crowstorm time. Once Terrify is down, Cleaver him, close the gap, and force him to cancel Drain by moving or dying.
Later Mundo can beat Fiddlesticks in a side duel if he denies full Drain channels, but Fiddlesticks' teamfight flank is far more dangerous. Late, keep vision around likely Crowstorm angles and save Cleaver to interrupt his follow-up positioning after the channel completes.
- Breaking Drain range is usually better than trying to outheal it.
- Terrify into Drain is his clean duel pattern; do not give it to him after Sadism starts.
- If Crowstorm begins from fog, run out first, then turn once the main damage window is gone.

GangplankEven
Gangplank's Parrrley poke and Remove Scurvy make him hard to lock down, but Mundo wins extended contact if he can keep Cleaver slows coming after the cleanse.
Watch for Remove Scurvy: it clears the Cleaver slow and heals him, denying Mundo's first chase window.
How to beat
Use Cleaver to force Remove Scurvy, then wait for the cleanse and reapply the next slow before committing Sadism. Avoid eating free Parrrley trades forever; either disengage out of pistol range or force melee where Burning Agony and Masochism matter. If Cannon Barrage is dropped on your chase path, step out of the slow field before deciding whether to continue.
Later The side lane is close: Gangplank can kite and sustain, but Mundo's repeated slows eventually force a real fight if GP misuses Remove Scurvy. In teamfights, Gangplank contributes global zone control while Mundo should pressure through the barrage only with Sadism available.
- First Cleaver is often just to draw Remove Scurvy; the second one decides the fight.
- Do not chase through Cannon Barrage without a fresh slow on him.
- His passive poison makes short auto trades worse than they look.

GarenEven
Mundo and Garen both want close, extended fights, but Garen's silence and execute can beat Mundo if Sadism is delayed or mistimed.
Watch for Demacian Justice: it executes Mundo through the health range where he wants Sadism to recover the duel.
How to beat
Keep Cleaver landing when Garen backs off to trigger Perseverance; never let him reset for free. If he uses Decisive Strike to cleanse the slow and silence you, kite briefly until the silence ends, then turn with Burning Agony and Masochism. Use Sadism before you are in Demacian Justice range, because waiting too long gives him the finish.
Later Side lane stays close, with Mundo favored in longer chases and Garen favored if he controls the execute window. In teamfights, Garen is less able to reach carries through slows, so Mundo should keep him marked with Cleaver and avoid donating an easy ultimate target.
- Decisive Strike removes slows, so do not rely on a single Cleaver to hold him.
- A tiny Cleaver tag stops Perseverance and is worth using even without an all-in.
- Ult early enough that Demacian Justice cannot cut off your healing curve.

GragasEven
Dr. Mundo can outlast Gragas if he keeps cleavers landing, but Body Slam and Explosive Cask stop clean all-ins and let Gragas reset the fight.
Watch for Body Slam: interrupts Mundo's chase and gives Gragas the spacing needed to land barrels or disengage.
How to beat
Hold just outside Body Slam range and make Gragas spend it before walking in with Burning Agony. Once Body Slam is down, chain Infected Cleaver slows and force a long fight where Sadism and Masochism matter more than his cooldown burst.
Later Mundo is usually better in the side lane if he has enough magic resist to ignore poke, while Gragas brings stronger displacement in teamfights. In 5v5s, do not let Explosive Cask split you from your backline; soak the first rotation, then keep cleavering whoever Gragas knocks forward.
- Do not cast Sadism after Explosive Cask has already knocked you away unless you can re-enter immediately.
- Body Slam used on a minion wave is your best window to walk through the barrel zone.
- Burning Agony helps reduce the CC time from Body Slam, but it does not stop the displacement.

HeimerdingerEven
Mundo wins if he can break the turret nest methodically, but Heimerdinger punishes straight-line approaches with blind, stun, rockets, and turret focus.
Watch for CH-1 Concussion Grenade: the center stun stops your engage, while the blind ruins Masochism trades in turret range.
How to beat
Do not run directly through multiple H-28G Evolution Turrets; cleaver turrets and minions first until Heimerdinger has to reposition. Commit only after CH-1 Concussion Grenade misses or is used on the wave, then stay close enough that Hextech Micro-Rockets cannot be the whole trade before you reach him.
Later Mundo can eventually side-lane through Heimerdinger if he has magic resist and time to clear turrets, but Heimerdinger is much better at holding ground around objectives. In teamfights, ignore the nest until your carries can clear it and look for cleavers on Heimerdinger when he steps forward to rocket.
- A turret-focused lane is not a losing duel unless you donate health walking into all of them at once.
- Save Sadism for after the grenade or rocket burst, not for the first turret shots.
- If Heimerdinger kites backward through his turrets, stop chasing and remove the nest.

JannaFavoured
Janna cannot kill Mundo alone unless he wastes everything into her disengage, but she can almost always prevent a clean finish.
Watch for Monsoon: knocks Mundo out of melee range and erases the progress of a long chase.
How to beat
Treat the duel as a chase, not a burst check: land Infected Cleaver first, then walk with Burning Agony on so Zephyr and Howling Gale do not keep you out forever. Do not blow Sadism just to reach her while Monsoon is still available; force the knockback, then re-engage with cleaver slows.
Later Mundo wins the side lane because Janna lacks damage, but Janna is far more valuable protecting carries in teamfights. In 5v5s, Mundo should pressure her backline and make Janna spend Monsoon defensively instead of saving it to reset the whole fight.
- Howling Gale is much easier to dodge if you approach diagonally instead of straight down the lane.
- Cleaver after Monsoon is more important than cleaver before it.
- Do not chase Janna through fog; her kit buys enough time for teammates to arrive.

Jarvan IVEven
Jarvan's armor shred and current-health passive make short trades hurt, but Mundo wins extended fights if he survives the first engage and keeps Jarvan slowed.
Watch for Dragon Strike: lowers Mundo's Armor and turns Jarvan's follow-up autos and Martial Cadence into a much better trade.
How to beat
Respect the Demacian Standard plus Dragon Strike knock-up and do not stand in a line with the flag. Once that combo is down, stick to Jarvan with cleavers and force him to fight inside Burning Agony instead of taking one passive auto and leaving.
Later Mundo generally scales better in pure side-lane durability, while Jarvan's Cataclysm is stronger for starting teamfights. In grouped fights, save cooldowns for after Cataclysm traps someone and either peel Jarvan off your carry or use the terrain to keep his backline in cleaver range.
- If Jarvan misses the flag combo, he has no clean way to stop your chase except Cataclysm.
- Cataclysm can trap you, but Mundo often wants the extended fight if Jarvan is alone.
- Do not trade every time Martial Cadence is ready; make him spend it into your regen window.

JaxUnfavoured
Jax outscales Mundo in the duel because Counter Strike denies Masochism autos and Grandmaster's Might turns the fight into a sustained damage race Mundo cannot reliably win.
Watch for Counter Strike: dodges Mundo's empowered attacks and stuns him during the exact window he wants to trade back.
How to beat
Do not stand and punch while Counter Strike is active; kite backward with Infected Cleaver until the stun is gone. Your best window is immediately after Counter Strike ends, when you can re-enter with Burning Agony and Masochism before Leap Strike comes back.
Later Jax wins the side lane once finished unless Mundo is far ahead or has heavy armor, while Mundo is usually better as a front-line sponge in teamfights. Do not answer Jax alone forever; clear waves with Sunfire-style damage, call help, and force him to spend Counter Strike before your carries hit him.
- Cleaver during Counter Strike still matters because his dodge does not stop spells.
- If Jax holds Leap Strike, do not burn Sadism just to create space he can instantly close.
- A short Masochism trade after Counter Strike is better than a full-health all-in.

KarthusFavoured
Karthus has constant magic damage, but Mundo's sustain and cleaver slows let him run Karthus down if he does not eat repeated isolated Lay Waste hits for free.
Watch for Wall of Pain: strips resistances and slows Mundo long enough for repeated Lay Waste and Defile damage.
How to beat
Approach from an angle so Wall of Pain does not cover your whole path, then keep moving between autos to avoid isolated Lay Waste hits. Once you land a cleaver, stay on top of him with Burning Agony and save Sadism for the Defile drain plus Requiem finish.
Later Mundo can side-lane into Karthus well with magic resist, but Karthus still contributes huge death-zone damage in teamfights. In grouped fights, Mundo should force Karthus to spend spells on the front line without dying inside Death Defied next to his own carries.
- Do not stand still to trade autos; moving after every cleaver reduces Lay Waste damage heavily.
- Killing Karthus is not the end of the fight because Death Defied still punishes melee champions.
- Sadism before Requiem can save you, but only if you are not already trapped in Defile at low health.

KassadinFavoured
Kassadin can harass and escape, but he lacks the sustained damage to beat Mundo in a fair duel before Mundo's cleavers and regeneration take over.
Watch for Null Sphere: silences Mundo and delays cleaver or Sadism timing during Kassadin's poke window.
How to beat
Do not chase every Riftwalk; hold mid range and punish the landing spot with Infected Cleaver. If Kassadin uses Null Sphere early, activate Sadism after the silence and force him to spend Riftwalk defensively instead of stacking damage.
Later Kassadin is much stronger at finding backline picks, while Mundo is stronger in a direct side-lane brawl if he can keep vision of the chase path. In teamfights, Mundo should not tunnel Kassadin through walls; zone him from carries with cleavers and make him Riftwalk away from the fight.
- Throw cleaver where Kassadin will land, not where he starts Riftwalk.
- Burning Agony does not help against silence, so do not wait too long to cast Sadism.
- If Force Pulse is charged, expect the slow before he commits to a Riftwalk trade.

KatarinaFavoured
Mundo's health pool, regeneration, and persistent damage make it hard for Katarina to finish him, and he can walk her down if Death Lotus is interrupted by positioning pressure or simply outlasted.
Watch for Death Lotus: front-loads her only real kill threat and can cut through Mundo if he starts Sadism too late.
How to beat
Keep enough distance that Shunpo does not start the fight on her terms, then tag her with Infected Cleaver after she commits. When Death Lotus starts, either leave its range with the cleaver slow already applied or activate Sadism early enough to outheal the channel and re-engage after it ends.
Later Mundo wins the isolated duel, but Katarina is more dangerous cleaning up teamfights after resets. In 5v5s, Mundo should body-block her entry path and keep cleavers ready for her post-Shunpo position rather than chasing tanks.
- Do not let Bouncing Blade chip you low before the real all-in starts.
- Katarina's Shunpo damage reduction makes the first seconds a bad burst window; keep hitting after it fades.
- If she uses Shunpo to a minion to dodge cleaver, the next cleaver is your engage.

KayleUnfavoured
Kayle's ranged Righteous Fury, Reckoning slow, sustain, and Intervention let her kite Mundo through the part of the fight where he needs to stick.
Watch for Intervention: denies Mundo's commit window after he has spent health and cooldowns to reach her.
How to beat
Do not start the all-in while Righteous Fury and Intervention are both available; use cleavers to force Righteous Fury uptime and back off when she turns with Reckoning. Commit after Intervention is down or when she uses it too early, then stay close with Burning Agony and Masochism before she reopens the gap.
Later Kayle usually wins the side-lane duel once she has enough damage and cooldowns, while Mundo is still valuable absorbing pressure in teamfights. Your job is to force Intervention onto Kayle or a threatened carry early, then keep her slowed so your team can finish the fight after invulnerability ends.
- Boots of Swiftness are valuable because Reckoning is often what keeps you out of melee.
- Do not waste Masochism autos into Intervention; reposition for the end of it.
- If Righteous Fury falls off, that is your best cleaver-to-melee window.

KennenUnfavoured
Kennen can kite Mundo with range, marks, and repeated stuns, making it difficult for Mundo to force the long melee fight he wants.
Watch for Slicing Maelstrom: stacks Mark of the Storm while damaging Mundo, often turning his engage into a stun chain.
How to beat
Stay outside easy Electrical Surge mark range and use cleavers to make Kennen spend Lightning Rush defensively. Do not chase into Slicing Maelstrom unless Sadism is already running and you can keep moving through the stun duration with Burning Agony's tenacity help.
Later Kennen is better in teamfights because Slicing Maelstrom threatens the whole backline, while Mundo can only win side pressure if Kennen cannot kite the lane. In 5v5s, Mundo should absorb the first stun cycle away from his carries and then keep Kennen slowed after Lightning Rush ends.
- Track your Mark of the Storm stacks; the third one is the real danger, not the first poke spell.
- Lightning Rush used to farm or retreat is your only reliable commit window.
- Do not stand in the minion wave if it lets Electrical Surge mark and trigger you for free.

Kog'MawUnfavoured
Kog'Maw's Bio-Arcane Barrage is built to kill high-health targets, and Mundo struggles to reach him through Void Ooze without already landing cleavers.
Watch for Bio-Arcane Barrage: gives Kog'Maw the range and percent-health magic damage to shred Mundo before melee range.
How to beat
Never run straight at Kog'Maw while Bio-Arcane Barrage is active; use terrain and cleavers to stall out its duration. Commit when W drops or Void Ooze misses, then keep him slowed and be ready to step away from Icathian Surprise after the kill.
Later Kog'Maw is one of the best late-game answers to Mundo in teamfights, while Mundo only wins side-lane contact if he catches him without peel. Build to survive long enough to zone him, not to duel him through free Bio-Arcane Barrage uptime.
- Void Ooze on the ground means the chase is usually over unless Kog'Maw is already slowed.
- After killing him, immediately leave Icathian Surprise range; Sadism does not make standing in it correct.
- Magic resist matters, but movement and timing around Bio-Arcane Barrage matter more.

Lee SinEven
Lee Sin can win early with burst, execute damage, and mobility, but Mundo takes over longer trades if he avoids the second part of Sonic Wave at low health.
Watch for Sonic Wave / Resonating Strike: marks Mundo and lets Lee Sin execute harder as Mundo gets lower.
How to beat
Use minions and side movement to make Sonic Wave hard to land before you spend Sadism. If Lee Sin misses Q or uses it on a minion, walk him down with cleavers; if he lands it, hold Sadism for after the follow-up burst unless Dragon's Rage will kick you out of the fight.
Later Mundo scales better in a direct front-to-front fight, while Lee Sin is better at picks and displacement. In teamfights, protect carries from Dragon's Rage angles and punish Lee Sin after he has used Safeguard or Resonating Strike to enter.
- Do not sit at low health baiting Masochism if Resonating Strike is available.
- Dragon's Rage can cancel your chase even when you are winning, so fight with a wall or escape path in mind.
- Lee Sin's Iron Will sustain matters in short trades; force him to stay after it expires.

LeonaFavoured
Leona has plenty of crowd control but not enough solo damage to kill Mundo before he regenerates and burns her down.
Watch for Zenith Blade: starts the CC chain and lets Leona force the fight before Mundo chooses his sustain timing.
How to beat
Let Leona engage only when her follow-up damage is isolated; she is much weaker without allies consuming Sunlight. Keep Burning Agony on through Shield of Daybreak and Solar Flare, then chase after Eclipse fades because her resistances drop sharply.
Later Mundo wins the duel and side lane, but Leona's real value is locking someone down for her team. In teamfights, do not waste time trying to kill her first unless she is trapped; walk past after her CC is spent and pressure the carries who can trigger Sunlight.
- Sunlight does nothing in a pure 1v1 because Leona cannot proc it herself.
- Eclipse falling off is your best damage window.
- Burning Agony is worth the health cost when it shortens her stun chain.

LuluEven
Lulu rarely kills Mundo outright, but Glitterlance, Whimsy, Help, Pix!, and Wild Growth make it very hard for him to finish her in a clean chase.
Watch for Whimsy: polymorphs Mundo during his commit or speeds Lulu out of cleaver follow-up range.
How to beat
Hold cleaver range and make Lulu spend Glitterlance or Whimsy before you activate Sadism. If she uses Wild Growth on herself, keep walking with the slow applied and re-commit after the bonus health window instead of dumping all damage into it.
Later Mundo can pressure side lanes into Lulu if she is alone, but she is much stronger attached to a carry in teamfights. In grouped fights, force Wild Growth and Whimsy defensively, then swap attention to the carry once Lulu's peel cooldowns are gone.
- Do not judge the trade while Help, Pix! shield is fresh; wait it out if you can stay close.
- Polymorph during Masochism wastes your best auto window, so bait it with movement first.
- Glitterlance's slow is the reason Boots of Swiftness can matter more than raw durability.

LuxEven
Lux can keep Mundo away with bind and slows, but if Light Binding misses she does not have enough sustained damage to stop him from closing and outhealing the burst.
Watch for Light Binding: roots Mundo long enough for Lucent Singularity and Finales Funkeln to land before he reaches melee.
How to beat
Approach from behind minions or at an angle so Light Binding is hard to line up. Once it misses, land cleaver and commit immediately; if it hits, use Sadism only if Finales Funkeln is coming or you can still reach her after the root ends.
Later Mundo wins side pressure if he can dodge bind, while Lux is stronger clearing waves and bursting grouped targets. In teamfights, do not chase her through narrow choke points; force her bind on you, survive the combo, and keep walking so your team can enter safely.
- Lucent Singularity's slow makes missed cleavers expensive, so wait for a clean line.
- Banshee's Veil is valuable because blocking Light Binding changes the whole chase.
- If Prismatic Barrier is traveling back to Lux, delay one auto or cleaver so it does not absorb your best hit.

MalphiteFavoured
Malphite is durable and annoying, but his attack-speed reduction barely matters to cleaver-and-burn trades, and he usually lacks damage to beat Mundo's sustain alone.
Watch for Seismic Shard: steals Mundo's movement speed and can deny the chase long enough for Malphite's shield and cooldowns to reset.
How to beat
Pop Granite Shield with Infected Cleaver before committing to melee. Keep Burning Agony active through Ground Slam and chase after Seismic Shard is used; Malphite wants short trades, while Mundo wants the fight to continue after his shield is gone.
Later Mundo generally wins the side lane, but Malphite's Unstoppable Force is much stronger than Mundo's engage in teamfights. In 5v5s, spread from your carries, absorb Malphite's follow-up if he ults forward, then use cleavers to stop him from escaping after the engage.
- Ground Slam reduces attack speed, but your cleaver damage and Sunfire-style damage still continue.
- Do not spend Masochism into Granite Shield if a cleaver can remove it first.
- If Malphite uses Unstoppable Force just to leave the duel, take the wave or objective instead of chasing.

MalzaharUnfavoured
Malzahar wins if he forces Mundo to stand in Null Zone during Nether Grasp, because percent damage and suppression deny the usual walk-away-and-regenerate pattern.
Watch for Nether Grasp: suppresses you long enough for Null Zone and Malefic Visions to burn through Sadism.
How to beat
Stay just outside Nether Grasp range and trade with Infected Cleaver until Malzahar has used Malefic Visions on the wave. Do not chase through Null Zone; commit only when his silence is down and you can break the channel with Quicksilver Sash or survive it with high magic resist.
Later Finished Malzahar is still dangerous in teamfights because his suppression gives his team a clean kill window on Mundo. In side lane Mundo can outlast him if QSS is available, but without it he should pressure waves and avoid isolated all-ins.
- Buy Quicksilver Sash if Malzahar is saving Nether Grasp for you.
- Voidlings make cleaver angles awkward; clear them before committing.
- If Null Zone appears under you, leave first and decide about Sadism after.
- Do not treat Black Shield-like logic as available here; suppression must be cleansed or avoided.

Master YiEven
Mundo can kite and outlast Yi with cleavers, but Highlander removes the slow and lets Yi turn the fight into a raw auto-attack race.
Watch for Highlander: ignores Infected Cleaver's slow and gives Yi the attack speed to chew through your health before Sadism finishes healing.
How to beat
Hold distance with cleavers before Highlander and avoid wasting your first slow into Alpha Strike. When Highlander starts, back toward your minion wave or turret, keep Burning Agony ticking only if he is committed, and re-engage after the duration ends.
Later Late Yi becomes a stronger side-lane duelist if he has enough on-hit or crit damage, while Mundo is more reliable in front-to-back teamfights. Force Yi to spend Highlander defensively or arrive late, then fight his team while he lacks resets.
- Do not chase Meditate unless your cleaver is ready to interrupt his spacing afterward.
- Alpha Strike can dodge a cleaver, so throw after he reappears.
- Thornmail punishes him only if he is forced to keep attacking you.
- Frozen Heart matters more than raw health once Yi has sustained DPS.

Miss FortuneFavoured
Mundo usually runs Miss Fortune down because repeated cleavers break Strut and she has no true escape once Make It Rain is gone.
Watch for Make It Rain: slows your approach and buys enough space for Double Up and Impure Shots to stack damage.
How to beat
Approach from an angle where Double Up cannot bounce through a minion onto you. Bait Make It Rain with a short step forward, then land Infected Cleaver to break Strut and commit before she can reset distance.
Later Mundo wins the side-lane duel if he reaches her, but Miss Fortune is more relevant when protected in a grouped Bullet Time setup. Flank or walk from the side so she must cancel Bullet Time or die.
- A single cleaver removes Strut and changes the chase completely.
- Do not stand behind low-health minions where Double Up can crit-bounce you.
- Save Sadism for after she commits Bullet Time, not for the first poke.
- Randuin's active helps finish the gap close after Make It Rain.

MorganaEven
Morgana struggles to kill Mundo alone, but Dark Binding into Tormented Soil and Soul Shackles can waste his ultimate and stop his chase.
Watch for Dark Binding: roots you long enough for Tormented Soil and Soul Shackles spacing to decide the trade.
How to beat
Fight around minions so Dark Binding is harder to land, and use cleavers to chip before committing. If Black Shield is down or broken, Mundo can chase; if she still has it, do not spend your only good slow into the shield.
Later Neither champion wants a pure side-lane duel forever: Mundo pressures towers slowly, Morgana clears waves and looks to group. In teamfights, avoid being the easy bind target and force her Black Shield before your carries need crowd control to land.
- Black Shield blocks the cleaver slow but not the health cost you paid to throw it.
- Burning Agony helps reduce binding follow-up crowd control, but it does not stop the root from landing.
- If Soul Shackles tethers you, decide immediately whether to leave or all-in.
- Banshee's Veil can block the binding that starts her whole pattern.

NasusEven
Mundo can bully and kite early, but Nasus eventually turns the duel with Wither, lifesteal, armor shred, and stacked Siphoning Strike.
Watch for Wither: removes Mundo's ability to kite between cleavers and lets Nasus force extended melee trades.
How to beat
Punish Nasus before he has stacked Q by standing between him and the wave and cleavering him whenever he walks up. If Wither is used, kite backward instead of trading autos into Spirit Fire, then re-enter once it fades.
Later A farmed Nasus wins the side lane more often, especially if he can keep Mundo inside Fury of the Sands. Mundo should stop trying to solo him late and instead group, soak cooldowns, and force Nasus to choose between split pushing and teamfighting.
- Do not fight inside Spirit Fire; the armor reduction makes Siphoning Strike hurt much more.
- Cleaver him when he walks up for cannon minions or Q stacks.
- Sadism before Wither fully ramps can keep enough speed to disengage.
- Executioner's Calling is only worth considering if Nasus lifesteal is the reason you cannot finish trades.

NidaleeEven
Mundo wins if he tags Nidalee repeatedly with cleavers, but loses tempo when she controls brush, lands long spears, and resets with Primal Surge.
Watch for Bushwhack: reduces your Armor and Magic Resist, making both spear poke and cougar all-ins much harder to regenerate through.
How to beat
Stay away from brush lines unless you have seen her trap pattern, and use cleavers to break her movement advantage before she can spear from max range. Commit only after she misses Javelin Toss or uses Primal Surge, because otherwise she heals through the first trade and pounces out.
Later Mundo is better in grouped fights if he can walk through poke, while Nidalee is better at delaying and splitting with traps and spears. In side lane, the duel stays skill-based: one cleaver chain catches her, one long spear chain forces Mundo out.
- Brush movement is part of the duel; do not chase blind through side brush.
- A trap proc is the worst time to activate Sadism and continue forward.
- Stand behind minions to shorten spear angles, then punish her cooldown.
- Force cougar Pounce defensively before trying to stay in melee range.

Nunu & WillumpFavoured
Nunu has sustain and slows, but he lacks the damage to kill Mundo in a fair duel unless Mundo sits in Absolute Zero.
Watch for Absolute Zero: punishes Mundo for mindlessly chasing through Ice Blast slows with a heavy point-blank channel.
How to beat
Let Nunu spend Ice Blast, then walk him down with cleavers and Masochism trades. When he channels Absolute Zero, step out immediately or interrupt the chase pattern; you do not need to prove anything inside the circle.
Later Mundo wins side lane, but Nunu's real value is Blood Boil and objective control rather than dueling. In teamfights, ignore Nunu unless he channels in your team and use your durability to reach his carries.
- Consume does not help him in a clean champion duel unless minions or monsters are nearby.
- Burning Agony reduces Ice Blast's slow duration, making repeated cleavers easier to land.
- Never chase into a full Absolute Zero channel when simply backing out wins the trade.
- Boots of Swiftness are useful if Ice Blast is the only thing stopping your engage.

OlafUnfavoured
Olaf beats Mundo in extended melee because Reckless Swing ignores defenses, Vicious Strikes sustains him, and Ragnarok prevents cleaver kiting.
Watch for Ragnarok: makes Olaf immune to your cleaver slow so he can force true-damage trades on his terms.
How to beat
Before level six, use cleavers to punish axe pickups and avoid standing where Undertow lands behind you. After Ragnarok, do not all-in from full health; kite until it ends, then re-enter if his Vicious Strikes and axe chain are down.
Later Olaf remains the better direct side-lane duelist when he can stick, while Mundo usually gives more persistent frontline value in longer teamfights. Peel back during Ragnarok, then re-engage once Olaf has spent his immunity into your team.
- Reckless Swing is the damage you cannot itemize away completely.
- Do not throw cleaver as your only escape once Ragnarok is already active.
- Executioner's Calling can matter if Vicious Strikes healing is deciding the duel.
- If Olaf misses Undertow and cannot pick it up, that is your best trade window.

PantheonEven
Pantheon controls short trades with stun and spear poke, but Mundo outscales the burst if he survives Heartseeker Strike and forces longer combat.
Watch for Aegis of Zeonia: stuns you in place for Heartseeker Strike and prevents Mundo from spacing the burst.
How to beat
Keep enough distance that Spear Shot poke costs Pantheon mana without giving him a free stun follow-up. When Aegis Protection is up, pop it with an auto or cleaver before relying on Masochism, then commit after Heartseeker Strike is down.
Later Mundo becomes much harder for Pantheon to kill in a side lane, but Pantheon can still leave with Grand Skyfall and create number advantages. Push carefully, ping his disappearances, and beat him by forcing him to answer waves instead of freely ulting.
- Aegis Protection can block your empowered auto, so do not waste Masochism into it.
- Side-step out of Heartseeker Strike instead of trading inside the cone.
- Armor early changes the lane more than extra damage does.
- If Pantheon ults away, take the wave or tower rather than chasing late.

RammusFavoured
Rammus is hard to kill quickly, but he does too little sustained damage to beat Mundo unless Mundo attacks into Defensive Ball Curl and Taunt for free.
Watch for Puncturing Taunt: forces you to hit Defensive Ball Curl and take reflected damage while your armor is reduced.
How to beat
Do not auto Rammus while Defensive Ball Curl is active unless he is already losing badly. Trade with cleavers, wait out the curl, then use Masochism when he has no Taunt to force you into bad attacks.
Later Mundo wins the side lane slowly, while Rammus is more dangerous as a teamfight pick tool against carries. Stand where Powerball cannot bypass you, but do not let Taunt drag you under his team for free.
- Cleaver damage is safer than autos during Defensive Ball Curl.
- Burning Agony helps shorten Taunt, but the forced attacks still hurt.
- If Rammus uses Powerball to enter, he has no escape from repeated cleavers.
- Do not chase him through Tremors under a turret unless the kill is immediate.

RyzeUnfavoured
Ryze's repeated Rune Prison and spell rotations deal too much sustained magic damage for Mundo to reliably reach him at equal strength.
Watch for Rune Prison: roots Mundo in Ryze's spell range and lets Overload and Spell Flux cycle before Mundo can close.
How to beat
Stay outside Rune Prison range and fish for cleavers until Ryze uses a spell on the wave. If he activates Desperate Power, disengage unless he is already low; fight after the steroid ends and his spell vamp window is gone.
Later Ryze is favored in both the duel and grouped fights if he can root Mundo before Mundo reaches priority targets. Mundo should stack magic resist, flank rather than front-walk through Ryze, and force Ryze to choose between kiting him and damaging carries.
- Do not stand near your own minions when Spell Flux can bounce value into you.
- Banshee's Veil blocking Rune Prison can create the only clean engage window.
- Sadism early enough to move through his first rotation, not after you are rooted at low health.
- Mercurial Scimitar or QSS can turn one root chain, but not every rotation.

ShacoFavoured
Mundo is too durable for Shaco's burst in a straight duel, and cleavers punish Shaco once Deceive is down.
Watch for Jack In The Box: fears you during the chase and gives Shaco the space to Backstab or escape after Deceive.
How to beat
Do not chase into unwarded boxes or tight jungle corners; force Shaco to Deceive first, then follow with cleavers when he reappears. In open ground, keep your back angled away from him and win the long trade with Sadism and Burning Agony.
Later Mundo wins the isolated duel, but Shaco's real game is picks, split pressure, and clone confusion. Group with vision, ignore Hallucinate unless you can identify the real one, and make Shaco fight front-to-back where he is weakest.
- Burning Agony shortens box fear, so keep it ready when entering trapped areas.
- If Shaco Deceives behind you, turn immediately to deny repeated Backstab value.
- Do not waste cleaver on the clone unless it blocks the real Shaco's escape path.
- Armor is enough; the matchup is mostly about vision and patience.

ShenFavoured
Shen can stall with shields and taunt, but Mundo out-damages and out-regenerates him in an extended duel.
Watch for Shadow Dash: taunts you long enough for Shen to disengage, pull you into minions, or set up help rather than finish the duel himself.
How to beat
Use cleavers to force Feint before walking into melee, then trade while his shield is down. Save a cleaver for after Shadow Dash, because Shen's main way to survive is taunting through you and leaving the fight.
Later Mundo wins side-lane pressure if Shen stays, but Shen can turn fights with Stand United. Push waves hard enough to punish his ult, then decide quickly whether to take structures or teleport/group with your own team plan.
- Do not blow your best trade into Feint unless you are only removing the shield.
- Stand between Shen and his escape path after Shadow Dash is down.
- Vorpal Blade sustain is annoying, not fight-winning, if you keep landing cleavers.
- If Shen ults away, make the lane cost him immediately.

SingedEven
Singed rarely kills Mundo head-on, but Poison Trail and Fling make chasing him inefficient while Insanity Potion lets him survive long trades.
Watch for Fling: throws you into Poison Trail or toward Singed's team and breaks the clean melee trade Mundo wants.
How to beat
Do not follow directly through Poison Trail; cut across his path and use cleavers to force him to spend Mega Adhesive or Fling defensively. Commit only when Insanity Potion is down or when he has already used Fling and cannot reset the spacing.
Later Side lane is often a stalemate: Mundo can survive Singed, and Singed can refuse the real duel. In teamfights, Mundo should ignore the chase bait, protect his carries from Fling angles, and hit higher-value targets when Singed runs past.
- Chasing in a straight line is how Singed wins without fighting you.
- Cleaver from the side of the wave, not from behind him in poison.
- Burning Agony helps against Mega Adhesive slow duration but does not fix bad pathing.
- Force Insanity Potion, disengage, then recheck the fight after it ends.

SionEven
Mundo can beat AP-style burst windows by surviving the stun and shield, but attack-damage Sion with Cannibalism can outheal him if allowed to free-hit.
Watch for Cannibalism: gives Sion enough lifesteal in melee that Mundo may lose an all-in he cannot kite out of.
How to beat
Back away when Death's Caress is charged so he cannot land the shield explosion for free. After Cryptic Gaze and the shield are down, kite with cleavers; if Cannibalism is active, disengage unless you have anti-heal or a clear health lead.
Later AD Sion becomes a serious side-lane sustain threat, while AP Sion is more about pick burst before fights. Mundo should avoid feeding him long lifesteal windows and instead use cleavers to control when Sion is allowed to hit anything.
- Do not stand next to Sion's shield waiting for it to explode.
- Burning Agony reduces Cryptic Gaze's stun duration, which can save the trade.
- Executioner's Calling is the specific answer when Cannibalism healing decides the duel.
- If Sion cannot stay in melee, his ultimate loses most of its value.

SivirFavoured
Mundo wins if he reaches Sivir because her range is short and Spell Shield only blocks one cleaver, but On The Hunt can deny the first chase.
Watch for Spell Shield: blocks Infected Cleaver's damage and slow, giving Sivir the gap she needs to keep kiting.
How to beat
Throw a low-commitment cleaver to break Spell Shield, then wait for the cooldown before spending Sadism to chase. Avoid Boomerang Blade's return path and force her to use On The Hunt defensively rather than starting the fight on her terms.
Later Sivir is much stronger grouped with teammates than alone, where Mundo can usually run her down through short range. In teamfights, flank or approach after Spell Shield is down so she cannot simply speed her team away.
- Do not open the all-in with your only cleaver into Spell Shield.
- Her 425 range gives you more cleaver threat than most marksman matchups.
- Step sideways after Boomerang Blade passes; the return hit is avoidable damage.
- Randuin's active can catch her after On The Hunt's first burst of speed fades.

SkarnerEven
Mundo can kite Skarner with Infected Cleaver and outlast short trades, but Skarner wins if Crystalline Exoskeleton stays up long enough for repeated Crystal Slash and Impale uptime.
Watch for Crystalline Exoskeleton: the shield gives Skarner the speed and attack speed he needs to stick through your cleaver slow.
How to beat
Hold medium range and throw cleavers until Crystalline Exoskeleton is broken or timed out. Do not stand in melee while Skarner is charged; commit with Burning Agony and Masochism after his shield speed is gone, then keep cleavering as he retreats.
Later Finished Mundo is usually harder to kill in side lane unless Skarner has help, but Skarner's teamfight value comes from Impale picking a carry. Stay between Skarner and your backline, absorb the engage, and save Sadism for the drag-out fight after the suppression.
- Cleavering Skarner before he presses W often denies the angle entirely.
- If he Impales you instead of a carry, your job is usually done.
- Do not chase into repeated Crystal Slash range while his shield is still visible.

SonaFavoured
Sona can poke and disengage, but she lacks the sustained damage to kill Mundo through Sadism if he lands cleavers and forces the fight.
Watch for Crescendo: the stun stops your chase long enough for Sona to reset distance or bring allies in.
How to beat
Stay just outside her auto range and fish for Infected Cleaver; one hit usually forces her to burn Song of Celerity or Crescendo. Once Crescendo is down, walk her down with Sadism and Burning Agony, but do not dive through her team to finish a low-value support.
Later Mundo wins the side duel easily, but Sona is almost always met in grouped fights where her auras and Crescendo matter more than her 1v1. Flank or front line to make her ultimate hit you instead of your carries.
- Track Power Chord; the damage reduction version can blunt your all-in.
- Cleaver beats her sustain better than short melee taps do.
- If she uses Crescendo defensively, disengage after it and re-enter when your health starts ticking back up.

SorakaFavoured
Soraka can silence and heal through light poke, but she cannot stop Mundo from repeatedly slowing her and winning a long chase.
Watch for Infuse: the silence can interrupt your timing and stops you from immediately chaining another cleaver during the chase.
How to beat
Play outside Starcall range when you are not committing, then use Infected Cleaver to force her to spend Astral Blessing or Wish. After Infuse is used, run her down with Burning Agony active and keep the cleaver slow refreshed rather than relying only on autos.
Later Mundo wins the isolated lane, but Soraka's real value is keeping allies alive and adding magic resist in teamfights. Pressure her with cleavers before the engage so Wish is used early or she has to stand too far back to silence your carries.
- Do not brawl inside repeated Starcall stacks for free; reset and cleaver again.
- Infuse is annoying, not lethal, unless allies are nearby.
- Her heals punish half-commits, so either poke safely or fully chase after silence.

TaricFavoured
Taric is sturdy and can stun you, but his armor aura does little against cleaver damage and he lacks the sustained threat to beat Mundo alone.
Watch for Dazzle: the stun gives Taric a guaranteed close-range Shatter and lets him disengage before your sustained damage takes over.
How to beat
Do not give him a free point-blank Dazzle trade unless you are ready to keep fighting afterward. Chip him with Infected Cleaver, let him spend Imbue, then commit through the stun with Burning Agony and Masochism once his heal is down.
Later Mundo wins the duel and usually wins the side lane, while Taric is better as a grouped armor aura and stun bot. In teamfights, ignore him unless he is the only target; walk past him after Dazzle is used.
- Cleaver damage ignores the main value of Shatter's armor aura.
- If he heals early, the next cleaver chain is your kill window.
- Burning Agony helps you keep moving after Dazzle ends.

TeemoUnfavoured
Teemo's blind, poison, movement speed, and mushrooms make it difficult for Mundo to convert cleaver hits into a clean melee kill.
Watch for Blinding Dart: it removes your Masochism auto damage during the short window when you finally reach him.
How to beat
Do not chase blindly through brush or lane edges where Noxious Trap can turn the fight. Break Move Quick with Infected Cleaver, wait out Blinding Dart before relying on Masochism autos, and use Sadism early enough that poison and mushrooms do not finish you after the chase.
Later Mundo becomes harder for Teemo to kill once magic resist is finished, but Teemo still controls side-lane terrain with mushrooms and can kite forever if you path poorly. Sweep with teammates where possible, force him into open lanes, and front line in fights instead of tunnel chasing him through traps.
- A cleaver hit removes Move Quick's value and starts the real trade.
- Turn away during blind if you are only in range for one or two autos.
- Sadism before the mushroom chain drops you too low, not after the poison is already lethal.

TristanaUnfavoured
Tristana has enough range, attack speed, Rocket Jump, and Buster Shot to keep Mundo from staying in melee unless he chains multiple cleavers.
Watch for Rocket Jump: it resets the spacing after your first slow and adds a landing slow if she jumps aggressively.
How to beat
Hold cleaver range and make her use Rocket Jump defensively before you spend Sadism. If she still has Buster Shot, approach from an angle that does not let her knock you straight back to safety, then commit only after at least one escape is down.
Later Tristana outscales the 1v1 in open space because her range and Rapid Fire shred even tank items. In teamfights, Mundo should soak her cooldowns and zone her path, not expect to solo-kill her without flank help.
- Do not activate Sadism just to be instantly Buster Shotted away.
- Cleaver after Rocket Jump lands, not before, if she is clearly saving it.
- Armor plus attack-speed reduction matters more than raw health against her finished build.

TryndamereUnfavoured
Tryndamere's crit scaling and Undying Rage let him outlast Mundo's kill window and finish the duel if Mundo cannot disengage the ultimate.
Watch for Undying Rage: it denies the moment where cleavers and Burning Agony would normally finish a low-health target.
How to beat
Trade with cleavers first and avoid extended melee while his Fury is high. When he uses Undying Rage, stop trying to kill him and kite with cleaver slow until it ends, then re-engage only if Spinning Slash is down or he is too low to chase.
Later Tryndamere is the stronger dedicated side-lane duelist once finished, especially if he can stick through slows. Mundo should build armor, clear waves safely, and force grouped fights where Tryndamere has to spend Undying Rage under multiple threats.
- Never judge the fight by his health bar while Undying Rage is available.
- Mocking Shout hurts your Masochism window if you turn away too late.
- A cleaver saved for after Spinning Slash is better than one thrown before he dashes.

Twisted FateFavoured
Twisted Fate can stun and kite briefly, but Mundo shrugs off his rotation and kills him if Gold Card does not create immediate distance or backup.
Watch for Pick A Card - Gold Card: the stun stops your chase and sets up Wild Cards while Twisted Fate backs out.
How to beat
Stay at cleaver range until he locks a card; if it is Gold, respect the stun and re-engage after it lands or times out. Once Pick A Card is down, Sadism through his poke and keep him slowed so Gate cannot be channeled safely in your face.
Later Mundo wins the side duel, but Twisted Fate usually avoids fair fights with Destiny and creates numbers elsewhere. Push side lanes carefully, keep health high enough to answer his reveal slow, and force him to use Gold Card on you in teamfights instead of on a carry.
- Cleaver can interrupt his comfort window before Gate if you keep vision of him.
- Do not chase so far that Destiny turns the duel into a collapse.
- Gold Card down means he has very little peel against Sadism.

TwitchUnfavoured
Twitch can open from stealth, stack Deadly Venom, and use Spray and Pray to kite Mundo down before Mundo can hold melee range.
Watch for Ambush: it lets Twitch choose the start of the duel and begin with free poison stacks before you can cleaver him.
How to beat
Do not walk low-health through fog where Ambush gives him the opener. If he appears, immediately cleaver to break his spacing, save Sadism for after the first Expunge threat, and disengage if Spray and Pray is active and you cannot keep him slowed.
Later Twitch is much more dangerous in teamfights than in side-lane theory because Spray and Pray pierces through your team. Mundo should build armor, walk at him from a flank or front angle that forces him backward, and accept zoning him as success.
- If Venom Cask misses, you have a short window to run him down.
- A late cleaver after Spray and Pray starts is often better than eating the full duration while chasing.
- Watch for Ambush attack speed; his first seconds out of stealth are the scariest.

VayneUnfavoured
Vayne is one of Mundo's worst duels because Silver Bolts punishes health stacking and Final Hour gives her the stealth and speed to kite him.
Watch for Silver Bolts: repeated third hits deal true damage that ignores the health and resistances Mundo relies on.
How to beat
Only fight her where Condemn cannot pin you to a wall and where you have room to retreat after Final Hour starts. Land cleaver before committing, force Tumble or Condemn, then use Sadism to stay in range; if she goes invisible and resets spacing, back out rather than feeding Silver Bolts stacks.
Later Finished Vayne wins the side-lane duel in clean space and shreds Mundo in front-to-back fights. Your job is to control terrain, eat Condemn if needed, and create enough disruption for teammates to kill her rather than trying to stat-check her alone.
- Count Silver Bolts stacks; leaving on two stacks denies huge damage.
- Fight away from walls, even if that means giving ground.
- Randuin's active is best used after Tumble, when she has fewer instant reposition options.

VeigarEven
Mundo can survive much of Veigar's burst with magic resist and Sadism, but Event Horizon can make him eat a full combo without ever reaching melee.
Watch for Event Horizon: the cage denies your approach and can stun you long enough for Dark Matter and Primordial Burst to land cleanly.
How to beat
Move unpredictably at the edge of cleaver range and do not run straight through the cage wall. If Event Horizon misses or is used defensively, activate Sadism and chase before it comes back; if it lands, wait out the burst and re-engage only if you still have enough health to regenerate through the follow-up.
Later Mundo is a strong magic-damage sponge later, but Veigar's crowd control is often more important than his damage against you. In teamfights, pressure him with cleavers and force Event Horizon onto you instead of your carries.
- Banshee's Veil can block the spell that starts his combo.
- Dark Matter is dodgeable unless Event Horizon controls your path.
- Your low AP makes Primordial Burst less punishing than it is for mages, but the base burst still matters.

WarwickEven
Both champions sustain heavily, so the duel often hinges on whether Warwick's Infinite Duress and Hungering Strike overcome Mundo's cleaver kiting and Sadism timing.
Watch for Infinite Duress: the suppression locks you in place while Warwick heals and buys time for another Hungering Strike.
How to beat
Do not give Warwick a free stationary melee fight where Eternal Thirst stacks value. Kite with cleavers, force Hungering Strike trades at range, then commit with Sadism after he uses Infinite Duress or when you are healthy enough to absorb it.
Later The side lane remains grindy, with Mundo better at soaking and Warwick better at locking one target for a pick. In teamfights, make him ult you if possible, because your regeneration handles the follow-up better than a carry's health bar does.
- Ignorant melee trading favors Warwick more than cleaver spacing does.
- If he ults before your Sadism, cast it immediately after the suppression ends.
- Grievous Wounds is valuable only if you are actually dueling him often.

WukongEven
Wukong has the burst and armor shred to win short trades, but Mundo wins longer fights if he tracks Decoy and keeps Wukong slowed after Cyclone.
Watch for Decoy: it wastes your cleaver or Masochism window and lets Wukong reset after his burst trade.
How to beat
Do not throw cleaver at the obvious clone as soon as he vanishes; step with him and wait for the real Wukong to reveal. Let him spend Nimbus Strike and Crushing Blow, then turn on Burning Agony and extend the fight where your regeneration beats his cooldown cycle.
Later Mundo is sturdier in side lane if he survives the first rotation, while Wukong brings a much stronger teamfight engage with Cyclone. Stand where Cyclone hits you before your carries, then keep cleavering him after the knockup ends so he cannot freely re-enter.
- Crushing Blow's armor reduction makes his next seconds much more dangerous.
- A missed cleaver into Decoy often flips the trade.
- Burning Agony helps you keep contact during Cyclone's disruption.

ZileanFavoured
Zilean can slow and revive himself, but he cannot kill Mundo in an honest duel unless he endlessly kites without being hit by cleavers.
Watch for Time Warp: the slow or speed-up controls whether Mundo ever reaches melee range.
How to beat
Stay patient at cleaver range and force Time Warp before committing; if he speeds himself, keep walking parallel and cleaver after the burst of speed fades. Do not dump everything into Chronoshift unless you can remain beside him when he revives.
Later Mundo wins the isolated duel, but Zilean is encountered as a teamfight utility champion who saves carries with Chronoshift. Pressure him with cleavers to force a defensive ultimate, then switch targets during the revive timer instead of standing idle on the corpse.
- Time Bomb poke is annoying, but it is not enough if you save Sadism for the chase.
- Chronoshift beats your first kill, not your ability to stay in the area.
- Mercury's Treads reduce the Time Warp slow and make the approach much cleaner.
