Flat AD marks and quints were the standard ADC page because Tristana's damage pattern is basic attacks amplified by Rapid Fire, not AP scaling. Armor seals handle bot-lane trades, while MR glyphs protect against support poke and later magic damage.

This is a 21/9/0 ADC page: offense gives attack speed, AD, armor penetration, crit scaling, and Executioner for finishing fights. The 9 defense points give the health and armor needed to survive early bot-lane trades.

Rapid FireQ
Rocket JumpW
Explosive ShotE

  • Rapid Fire (Q) takes points at levels 4, 8, 10, 12, 13.
  • Rocket Jump (W) takes points at levels 2, 14, 15, 17, 18.
  • Explosive Shot (E) takes points at levels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.
  • Buster Shot (R) takes points at levels 6, 11, 16.

Max E first for lane damage, pushing pressure, and its healing reduction, then Q for sustained DPS once items arrive, leaving W mostly as a reset and escape tool. Take W at level 2 so you can disengage or punish an overextended lane.

Alternative — Q max before E was also played in passive farm lanes where you were not landing Explosive Shot trades and only needed Rapid Fire to scale into turret damage and late fights.

Why these items

Openingsall within the 475 starting gold

  • Doran's BladeYellow Trinket

Doran's Blade startDefault start for most lanes: it gives AD for last hitting and trades, health for all-ins, and on-hit sustain without delaying your first damage item.

  • Doran's ShieldHealth PotionYellow Trinket

Doran's Shield startUse into heavy auto-attack or poke lanes where surviving lane matters more than early kill pressure; the potion fits alongside it and helps cover bad first waves.

  • Boots of SpeedHealth Potion4Yellow Trinket

Boots sustain startUse when dodging skillshots is the lane, such as Blitzcrank, Thresh-style hook pressure, or repeated support poke you can sidestep.

Corein buy order

  • 1

Berserker's Greaves900gBerserker's Greaves were the standard ADC boots, giving cheap attack speed for farming, trading, and early dragon fights.

  • 2

Infinity Edge3,800gInfinity Edge is the main first damage spike, turning Tristana's scaling range and Rapid Fire uptime into real crit threat.

  • 3

Phantom Dancer2,800gPhantom Dancer supplies the attack speed, crit chance, move speed, and unit collision pass-through that let late-game Tristana kite and clean fights.

  • 4

Last Whisper2,300gLast Whisper was mandatory once armor items appeared, keeping her crits relevant against Season 3 frontlines.

Situationalonly when the game asks for it

  • Mercurial Scimitar3,700gBuy Mercurial Scimitar when suppressions, long stuns, or debuffs are the main way the enemy can reach you.

  • Banshee's Veil2,750gBuy Banshee's Veil if one spell pick, such as a hook, arrow, or burst mage opener, decides every fight.

  • Blade of The Ruined King3,200gBuy Blade of the Ruined King against very high-health bruisers or tanks when percent-current-health damage and the active slow matter more than a pure crit finisher.

  • Ninja Tabi1,000gUse Ninja Tabi instead of Berserker's Greaves only when the enemy team is overwhelmingly basic-attack physical damage and you are being targeted early.

  • Executioner's Calling1,900gExecutioner's Calling is a niche buy when the enemy relies on heavy healing and your team cannot apply Grievous Wounds reliably, though Tristana's E already covers short windows.

Magic penetration marks are for Explosive Shot, Rocket Jump and Buster Shot, all of which deal magic damage and read AP ratios. This costs you the attack-damage marks, lifesteal quints and smoother last-hitting of ordinary AD Tristana, so early CS is weaker unless you use E carefully.

This is 21/0/9 AP burst: magic penetration, AP per level, flat AP, Archmage and Executioner are all for W/E/R damage, with Runic Affinity as the final utility point because Season 3 mid laners expect blue buff. Compared to ordinary AD Tristana, it gives up defensive lane stats and sustained auto-attack scaling for spell burst and blue-buff uptime.

Skill order

Rapid FireQ
Rocket JumpW
Explosive ShotE
Buster ShotR
  • Rapid Fire (Q) takes points at levels 4, 14, 15, 17, 18.
  • Rocket Jump (W) takes points at levels 2, 8, 10, 12, 13.
  • Explosive Shot (E) takes points at levels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.
  • Buster Shot (R) takes points at levels 6, 11, 16.

Max E first because the active is the reliable AP-ratio lane nuke and healing cut; take W early for the all-in and reset threat, then max W second for lower cooldown and burst. Q is delayed because AP Tristana is not building around sustained auto attacks.

Why these items

Openingsall within the 475 starting gold

  • Doran's RingHealth Potion2Yellow Trinket

Doran's Ring startDefault into normal mid lanes: it gives AP, health, mana sustain on last hits and enough potions to trade with E.

  • Crystalline FlaskHealth Potion3Yellow Trinket

Flask sustain startUse into poke or lanes where you expect to spend mana farming and cannot reliably snowball before first recall.

  • Boots of SpeedHealth Potion4Yellow Trinket

Boots and potions startUse when dodging skillshots is the lane, or when early jungle pressure makes movement more valuable than Doran's stats.

Corein buy order

  • 1

Sorcerer's Shoes1,100gSorcerer's Shoes make every part of the W-E-R burst pattern hit harder against low Season 3 magic-resist targets.

  • 2

Deathfire Grasp3,100gDeathfire Grasp was the AP assassin spike: active first, then E, W and R during the amplification window.

  • 3

Rabadon's Deathcap3,300gRabadon's Deathcap turns Tristana's very high AP ratios, especially Buster Shot's 150% AP, into real one-combo threat.

  • 4

Lich Bane3,000gLich Bane converts frequent spell casts and Tristana's growing range into a heavy follow-up auto after DFG or E.

Situationalonly when the game asks for it

  • Rylai's Crystal Scepter2,900gBuy Rylai's Crystal Scepter when you need health and sticking power; E's DoT and W both apply slows, making jumps and follow-up autos easier.

  • Liandry's Torment2,900gBuy Liandry's Torment against high-health teams or when fights last long enough for Explosive Shot's DoT to keep burning targets.

  • Abyssal Scepter2,560gBuy Abyssal Scepter against double AP or short-range comps where you can safely fight inside the aura range.

  • Morellonomicon2,200gBuy Morellonomicon when you need cheaper cooldown reduction and mana regen, especially if fights revolve around healing targets.

  • Twin Shadows1,900gBuy Twin Shadows when pick setup matters more than raw damage and your team needs help finding targets for the jump combo.

  • Quicksilver Sash1,550gBuy Quicksilver Sash if a single suppression, stun or silence keeps preventing your DFG combo or Rocket Jump escape.

Avarice Blade early for the gold, then straight crit. Two Phantom Dancers is not a typo — the attack speed and the movement are both the point.

Matchup against

62 champions, one-on-one
  • Ahri

    AhriEven

Ahri can win by landing Charm into a full spell rotation, but Tristana wins extended autos if she dodges or buffers away from the pick.

Watch for Charm: it stops Rocket Jump timing and gives Ahri the clean Orb of Deception plus Spirit Rush follow-up.

    How to beat

Hold just outside Charm range and trade with autos when Orb of Deception is down or already committed through the wave. Do not Rocket Jump forward while Charm is available; use it after she spends Charm or after her last Spirit Rush dash to finish with Rapid Fire and Buster Shot.

Later Finished builds favor Tristana in front-to-back fights because her range outscales Ahri's pick range, but Ahri still controls fog and side-lane brushes. In side lane, push from distance and save Buster Shot to break her Spirit Rush commit.

    • Stand off the return path of Orb of Deception; the true-damage return is the part that makes the trade even.
    • Buster Shot can deny her final Spirit Rush damage if she dashes into you.
    • If Charm is down, Rapid Fire autos beat her cooldown cycle.
    • Do not jump after her first dash unless you know she has no remaining Spirit Rush charges.
    BuyQuicksilver SashHexdrinkerBanshee's Veil
  • Akali

    AkaliUnfavoured

Akali's repeated Shadow Dance access and Twilight Shroud deny Tristana the clean auto spacing she needs to win a fair duel.

Watch for Twilight Shroud: it breaks your target access and lets Akali wait out Rapid Fire while staying in all-in range.

    How to beat

Keep the fight long and open, not in brush or around shroud terrain, and start hitting before she has three Shadow Dance charges. Save Rocket Jump for after her dash lands, then Buster Shot her away when she tries to reattach with Mark of the Assassin.

Later Akali is more dangerous in side lane because she can force fog fights and reset onto you, while Tristana is stronger grouped behind peel. Do not answer her alone without vision and displacement available.

    • Do not Rocket Jump into Twilight Shroud; you lose autos and give her the re-engage.
    • If Mark of the Assassin is on you, back up until the proc window is awkward for her.
    • Buster Shot after Shadow Dance creates real space; using it before lets her dash back in.
    • Fight near minions only if they give you a Rocket Jump reset escape after a kill.
    BuyQuicksilver SashHexdrinkerBanshee's Veil
  • Alistar

    AlistarFavoured

Alistar cannot usually kill Tristana alone unless she walks into Pulverize plus Headbutt range and wastes her disengage.

Watch for Pulverize: it locks you long enough for Headbutt displacement and removes your chance to kite immediately.

    How to beat

Auto him from max range and treat his Flash or brush access as the only real engage. Save Rocket Jump until after Pulverize or Headbutt is used, then keep walking back and let Rapid Fire punish his long cooldowns.

Later Alistar is not a side-lane duelist against Tristana, but he is a major teamfight engage and peel champion. Late, hit whoever is safe and do not spend Rocket Jump aggressively until his combo is accounted for.

    • Buster Shot after Headbutt keeps him from walking into Pulverize range again.
    • Do not chase through Unbreakable Will; wait out the damage reduction.
    • If he holds both Q and W, your autos are poke, not an all-in.
    • His sustain makes short poke less valuable than clean extended kiting.
    BuyNinja Tabi
  • Amumu

    AmumuFavoured

Amumu only wins if Bandage Toss starts the fight, while Tristana wins by kiting his melee damage and disengaging Curse of the Sad Mummy range.

Watch for Bandage Toss: it brings Amumu into Curse of the Sad Mummy range and removes your spacing advantage.

    How to beat

Stand behind minions or at an angle where Bandage Toss cannot start cleanly. If he misses Q, turn on Rapid Fire and kite backward; save Rocket Jump or Buster Shot for when he reaches ult range.

Later Tristana wins the side-lane duel in open space, but Amumu's teamfight ultimate is far more important than his 1v1. Group with spacing, hit front line safely, and never clump where Curse can catch you with your peel.

    • Rocket Jump after Bandage Toss lands can still pull you out before his sustained damage matters.
    • Do not jump onto him while Curse of the Sad Mummy is available.
    • His Tantrum reduces physical poke, so commit only when he has missed engage.
    • Fight in lanes, not jungle corners.
    BuyQuicksilver SashBanshee's Veil
  • Anivia

    AniviaEven

Anivia can control space and force Rebirth, but Tristana can punish missed Flash Frost and eventually outrange her spell pattern.

Watch for Flash Frost: the stun sets up Frostbite and gives Anivia time to wall your escape path.

    How to beat

Stay lateral to the minion wave so Flash Frost has to be aimed and cannot cover both you and the wave. When Q misses or is detonated early, step in with Rapid Fire; keep Rocket Jump for Crystallize traps or for finishing the egg only after her crowd control is gone.

Later Tristana scales better in teamfights if she can hit from outside Anivia's control zone, but Anivia can stall side lanes forever and punish greedy dives with Rebirth. Do not chase through Glacial Storm and wall unless Buster Shot or Rocket Jump is ready.

    • Do not Buster Shot Anivia away if you still need damage for Rebirth unless it saves you from Frostbite.
    • Crystallize can make Rocket Jump pathing awkward; jump after the wall is placed, not before.
    • Her 600 range matters early, but Draw a Bead flips the range problem later.
    • If egg is under turret or storm, treat it as a second health bar, not a guaranteed kill.
    BuyHexdrinkerQuicksilver SashBanshee's Veil
  • Annie

    AnnieUnfavoured

Annie's point-and-click stun burst is reliable enough to kill Tristana before Tristana can use her range advantage.

Watch for Pyromania stun with Summon: Tibbers: it locks you in place and front-loads Annie's burst before Rocket Jump can create distance.

    How to beat

Track her stun stacks and give up damage when she has Pyromania ready. Only trade while stun is unavailable or after Tibbers is down; if she flashes in, Buster Shot immediately before she chains the rest of the combo.

Later Tristana is the stronger sustained damage carry, but Annie's flash stun decides teamfights if you stand in range. In side lane, do not duel her without magic resist or vision of her approach angle.

    • Her auto range is longer than yours early, so do not take free poke before your levels add range.
    • A visible stun stack means you farm, not trade.
    • Buster Shot can interrupt her walk-up, but not if you are already stunned.
    • Mercurial Scimitar or Quicksilver Sash is for surviving the stun window, not for winning DPS.
    BuyQuicksilver SashHexdrinkerBanshee's Veil
  • Ashe

    AsheEven

Ashe has better chase and pick control, while Tristana has stronger all-in damage if she avoids the arrow and gets Rapid Fire uptime.

Watch for Enchanted Crystal Arrow: it starts the duel on Ashe's terms and lets Frost Shot keep you from resetting distance.

    How to beat

Use minions and side movement to make Volley and Arrow less clean, then trade autos when Volley is down. If Arrow misses, Rocket Jump forward or sideways to force the DPS race; if it hits, Buster Shot after the stun ends to break Frost Shot chase.

Later Tristana generally outcarries Ashe in raw DPS and range, but Ashe has the stronger engage tool for teams. In side lane, Tristana can win if Arrow is down; grouped, respect her ability to start fights from outside your screen.

    • Do not Rocket Jump straight at Ashe while Arrow is available.
    • Buster Shot can reset distance after Frost Shot starts sticking.
    • Your range scaling eventually lets you hit without eating every Volley arrow.
    • If she opens with Volley, the slow is shorter than the danger from Arrow.
    BuyQuicksilver SashNinja Tabi
  • Blitzcrank

    BlitzcrankFavoured

Blitzcrank is dangerous only when Rocket Grab lands, because otherwise he cannot stay on Tristana through Rocket Jump and Buster Shot.

Watch for Rocket Grab: it removes all spacing and puts you inside Power Fist and Static Field range.

    How to beat

Keep minions between you and Blitzcrank and punish every missed Rocket Grab with Rapid Fire autos. Do not jump forward unless hook is down; if he Overdrives at you, Buster Shot or Rocket Jump after Power Fist is committed.

Later Tristana wins any honest side-lane duel in open space, but Blitzcrank's pick threat remains decisive around fog. In teamfights, stand behind bodies and let him waste hook before you step up for carry damage.

    • Rocket Jump can dodge the hook path, but pre-positioning behind minions is cleaner.
    • Mana Barrier makes the last chunk deceptive; do not overchase into hook cooldown.
    • If he flashes for Power Fist, Buster Shot before Static Field silence can matter.
    • He has no sustained answer once Q and E are spent.
    BuyQuicksilver SashNinja Tabi
  • Brand

    BrandUnfavoured

Brand's spell burst and percent-health burn punish Tristana's short attack range before she can safely finish him.

Watch for Sear: when Brand has Blaze applied, Sear stuns you and guarantees Pillar of Flame plus Pyroclasm damage.

    How to beat

Do not stand in minions where Conflagration spread and Pyroclasm bounces improve his damage. Bait Pillar of Flame or Sear first, then use Rocket Jump aggressively only after the stun condition is gone; otherwise kite at max range and trade one or two autos at a time.

Later Tristana outscales in sustained teamfight DPS, but Brand remains lethal if she clumps or lets Pyroclasm bounce. In side lane, she can win with enough range and magic resist, but only if she dodges the stun setup.

    • If Blaze is already on you, treat Sear as the fight-deciding spell.
    • Rocket Jumping onto Brand before Sear is used is usually a death sentence.
    • Spread away from minions to reduce Pyroclasm value.
    • Buster Shot can stop his follow-up if he walks in after landing a spell.
    BuyHexdrinkerQuicksilver SashBanshee's Veil
  • Cho'Gath

    Cho'GathEven

Tristana can kite Cho'Gath in open ground, but one Rupture into silence and Feast range can flip the duel instantly.

Watch for Rupture: it knocks you up, slows you, and lets Cho'Gath close for Feral Scream and Feast.

    How to beat

Keep moving between autos and never stand still during Rapid Fire long enough for easy Rupture placement. If Rupture misses, punish with autos while saving Rocket Jump for Feral Scream range; commit only when Feast cannot execute you through your remaining health.

Later Cho'Gath becomes hard to kill in side lane, especially with Feast stacks, while Tristana is more valuable shredding front line from safety in teamfights. Buy anti-tank damage if he is your assigned target and do not duel him in choke points.

    • Silence can stop Rocket Jump, so jump before Feral Scream range if Rupture hits.
    • Buster Shot is best used to deny Feast range, not as early burst.
    • His sustain makes random poke weak unless you can keep him off the wave.
    • Open lane favors you; jungle walls favor his Q and W angles.
    BuyMadred's BloodrazorQuicksilver SashBanshee's Veil
  • Corki

    CorkiEven

Corki has stronger mixed burst and armor shred, but Tristana can win if she avoids Valkyrie damage and gets a clean Rapid Fire DPS window.

Watch for Gatling Gun: it shreds your armor while Corki trades autos and missiles, making the duel snowball if you stay in its cone.

    How to beat

Do not stand in front of Corki for the full Gatling Gun duration; step sideways or disengage with Rocket Jump until the shred window ends. Once Valkyrie is down or used defensively, chase with Rapid Fire and use Buster Shot to stop his re-entry or secure the final burst.

Later Both are real carries, but Tristana's range gives her the cleaner late teamfight if she survives Corki's poke. In side lane, the fight remains skill-based around Valkyrie and Rocket Jump cooldowns.

    • Avoid fighting inside Valkyrie's fire trail; it quietly wins trades for him.
    • His basic attacks hurt through armor because of bonus true damage, so pure armor is not a full answer.
    • If he Valkyries forward, Buster Shot can strand him away from sustained autos.
    • Your range scaling eventually lets you start trades before his autos answer.
    BuyWit's EndHexdrinkerGuardian Angel
  • Dr. Mundo

    Dr. MundoUnfavoured

Dr. Mundo is hard for Tristana to kill through Sadism unless she has healing reduction or enough space to kite cleavers indefinitely.

Watch for Infected Cleaver: the repeated slow lets Mundo keep walking into Burning Agony and Masochism range despite Rocket Jump.

    How to beat

Dodge cleavers first and damage second; one hit often turns the whole duel into a chase you cannot finish. Commit after Sadism is down or when Executioner's Calling is ready, and use Buster Shot to break his approach rather than as early burst.

Later Mundo is stronger in side lane if Tristana lacks Grievous Wounds or tank damage, but Tristana is better in grouped fights when protected and allowed to burn him down. Kite backward through your team and do not isolate where cleavers chain into an all-in.

    • Executioner's Calling is the matchup item; without it, Sadism erases too much progress.
    • Rocket Jump after a cleaver slow can save you, but dodging the cleaver is the real win.
    • Do not chase low-health Mundo through his ultimate duration.
    • Buster Shot him out before he gets repeated Masochism autos.

  • Evelynn

    EvelynnUnfavoured

Evelynn's camouflage approach and point-blank burst deny Tristana the chance to begin the duel at her preferred range.

Watch for Shadow Walk: it lets Evelynn choose the starting angle and open inside Ravage and Agony's Embrace range.

    How to beat

Assume the duel starts badly if you lack vision, and save Rocket Jump until after she reveals and spends her slow. Buster Shot her away once she commits, then use Rapid Fire only if you have enough distance to keep attacking without eating a second Ravage cycle.

Later Evelynn is a stronger isolated pick champion, while Tristana is far stronger in structured teamfights with peel and vision. Do not side lane past ward coverage; grouped, hold jump until Evelynn shows.

    • Sightstone-style vision matters more than a combat stat if Evelynn is deciding the game.
    • Do not open Rocket Jump forward into fog; she wants you without an escape.
    • Agony's Embrace slow makes late jumps worse, so use Buster Shot first when she appears on top of you.
    • If she fails to kill in the first rotation, your autos can finish her quickly.

  • Ezreal

    EzrealEven

Ezreal can kite and poke with Mystic Shot, but Tristana wins the committed auto fight if Arcane Shift is forced early.

Watch for Essence Flux: it cuts your attack speed during Rapid Fire trades and makes your all-in much weaker.

    How to beat

Use minions to block Mystic Shot and do not spend Rocket Jump until Arcane Shift is down or clearly cannot escape your follow-up. If he uses Essence Flux before your Rapid Fire, wait it out or disengage, then re-enter when your autos can actually win the DPS race.

Later Tristana generally has the stronger front-to-back late game because of range and sustained crit scaling, while Ezreal remains safer in side lanes with poke and Arcane Shift. Force objectives where he must stand and hit instead of letting him kite through open space.

    • Jumping first lets Ezreal Arcane Shift second; make him blink before you commit.
    • Essence Flux is specifically bad for you because it reduces your Rapid Fire payoff.
    • Stand behind minions so Mystic Shot cannot refresh his cooldowns for free.
    • Buster Shot can interrupt his chase after Arcane Shift, but it may also knock him to safety.

  • Fiddlesticks

    FiddlesticksUnfavoured

Fiddlesticks wins if Terrify or Crowstorm starts in range, while Tristana wins only by interrupting Drain and refusing fog engages.

Watch for Terrify: it removes control long enough for Drain or Crowstorm damage to stick before you can jump away.

    How to beat

Fight from outside his fear range and never walk into unwarded brush or jungle entrances where Crowstorm can begin unseen. If he starts Drain, Buster Shot or Rocket Jump out to break the channel, then turn with Rapid Fire after Terrify is down.

Later Fiddlesticks is not looking for clean side-lane duels; he wants fog-of-war teamfight ultimates. Tristana is stronger in standard front-to-back fights, but she must keep vision and hold displacement for Crowstorm or Drain.

    • Buster Shot cancels Drain by forcing distance.
    • Quicksilver Sash can remove Terrify, but you still need to leave Crowstorm range.
    • Do not chase him into fog after he disappears from lane.
    • His 480 attack range means autos are easy only when fear is unavailable.

  • Gangplank

    GangplankEven

Gangplank's Parrrley poke and Remove Scurvy sustain make short trades awkward, but Tristana wins extended fights if she kites his melee follow-up.

Watch for Parrrley: it gives Gangplank ranged poke and applies pressure before Tristana can force a clean all-in.

    How to beat

Do not let him build a health lead with repeated Parrrley before you commit. Trade back with autos when Parrrley is down, save Rocket Jump for after Cannon Barrage or his movement-speed push, and use Buster Shot to stop him from getting repeated melee passive hits.

Later Tristana is much stronger in full teamfights and scales better as a carry, while Gangplank can influence grouped fights with Cannon Barrage and side-lane pressure. In side lane, Tristana wins if she avoids being slowed inside the ultimate and keeps him out of melee range.

    • Remove Scurvy clears Rocket Jump's slow, so do not rely on the landing slow to kite him.
    • Cannon Barrage turns a winning chase into a slow field; jump out before finishing if needed.
    • Parrrley is his real lane-range tool, not his autos.
    • Buster Shot after he uses Raise Morale denies his best run-at-you window.

  • Garen

    GarenFavoured

Tristana wins if she keeps Garen at the edge of her range because he has no real way to touch her after Decisive Strike is kited or Rocket Jumped away from.

Watch for Decisive Strike breaks Rocket Jump's slow and gives Garen the speed window to reach silence range.

    How to beat

Hold maximum auto range and tag him often enough to stop Perseverance. Do not Rocket Jump forward unless Decisive Strike is already down; save W to leave when he starts the speed-up, then re-enter with Rapid Fire once Judgment cannot stick to you.

Later Finished Tristana crushes the side-lane duel if she respects fog and execute range, while Garen is mostly a frontliner in teamfights. Hit whoever is closest, keep Buster Shot for his run-in, and do not spend jump aggressively until he is displaced.

    • One auto every few seconds is valuable because it shuts off Perseverance.
    • Rocket Jump's slow is unreliable once Decisive Strike is active.
    • Buster Shot before Demacian Justice range if he flashes or brushes onto you.
    • Do not chase through brush where Judgment can start already on top of you.

  • Gragas

    GragasEven

Tristana can out-DPS Gragas in open space, but Body Slam plus Explosive Cask can deny her spacing and put her into a burst combo.

Watch for Explosive Cask can knock Tristana back into Gragas or away from her escape path, ruining her range advantage.

    How to beat

Stand outside Body Slam range and punish him after he uses it on minions or misses it. Rocket Jump should be saved until after Explosive Cask if possible, because jumping first gives him the clean displacement angle.

Later In a pure side lane Tristana wins extended fights once she has enough damage, but Gragas has better pick and disruption value around teams. In teamfights, play wide so Explosive Cask cannot split you from your frontline.

    • Do not jump in while Barrel Roll is armed under your landing spot.
    • Sidestep sideways from Body Slam rather than backward in a straight line.
    • If Explosive Cask is down, Rapid Fire lets you force the duel.
    • Buster Shot can interrupt his follow-up after Body Slam connects.

  • Heimerdinger

    HeimerdingerEven

Tristana can kill Heimerdinger if she clears turrets first, but fighting inside his setup lets turrets, rockets, and grenade turn the duel.

Watch for CH-1 Concussion Grenade stuns or blinds Tristana, taking away the auto-attack window she needs to finish him.

    How to beat

Do not duel in a full turret nest; use your range to kill H-28G Evolution Turrets before trading into Heimer himself. Commit only after grenade misses or is spent, then use Rapid Fire and Buster Shot to finish before he rebuilds the zone.

Later Tristana scales into better tower pressure and side-lane threat, while Heimer is still annoying around objectives where he can pre-place turrets. Force him to move first, then fight him away from his setup.

    • Explosive Shot splash can help trim turrets through minion waves.
    • Never Rocket Jump onto a live turret cluster unless grenade is down.
    • A direct grenade hit usually means you lose the trade even if you survive.
    • Buster Shot can push him out of turret protection for the last autos.

  • Janna

    JannaFavoured

Janna can disengage Tristana but does not have enough solo damage to win a straight duel unless Tristana wastes every gap closer into her peel.

Watch for Monsoon knocks Tristana away and resets the fight after she commits Rocket Jump.

    How to beat

Walk her down with autos instead of opening with Rocket Jump. Bait Howling Gale or Monsoon, then use Rocket Jump after the disengage to continue the chase; Buster Shot is mostly for stopping her escape path, not for defense.

Later Tristana wins the side lane easily, but Janna matters far more in teamfights by denying dives and shielding carries. Do not tunnel on Janna unless her peel is already used or she is isolated.

    • Do not jump first if Monsoon is available.
    • Eye Of The Storm makes short trades inefficient, so wait it out when possible.
    • Stand off-angle so Howling Gale cannot line up through her carry and you.
    • Her low range means every failed disengage costs her several autos.
  • Jarvan IV

    Jarvan IVUnfavoured

Jarvan can force melee range with his engage chain and Cataclysm, and Tristana dies quickly if Rocket Jump is interrupted or trapped.

Watch for Cataclysm creates terrain around Tristana, forcing her to spend Rocket Jump or Flash before she can kite.

    How to beat

Keep minions between you and his pathing, and treat Demacian Standard plus Dragon Strike as the real start of the fight. If he uses Cataclysm after you jump, Buster Shot him away immediately; if he ults first, jump out of the arena and punish while his engage is down.

Later Tristana wins front-to-back teamfights if Jarvan cannot reach her, but side-lane duels remain dangerous because his full combo is targeted once he is close. Stay near terrain you can jump over and hold Buster Shot for his second contact.

    • Never Rocket Jump forward while Demacian Standard and Dragon Strike are both ready.
    • Cataclysm walls are less scary if your W is unused.
    • Buster Shot can buy the space needed after his armor shred lands.
    • Avoid dueling him in jungle corridors where Cataclysm leaves few landing options.

  • Jax

    JaxUnfavoured

Jax is built to beat auto attackers because Counter Strike removes Tristana's main damage while Leap Strike keeps him attached.

Watch for Counter Strike dodges Tristana's basic attacks and turns her Rapid Fire window into wasted time.

    How to beat

Do not activate Rapid Fire into Counter Strike. Kite backward, Rocket Jump as Leap Strike or the stun commits, then re-engage only after Counter Strike ends; if he keeps Q for your jump, you usually cannot duel him cleanly.

Later Jax wins most side-lane all-ins once finished, while Tristana is stronger in protected teamfights. Avoid isolated lanes without vision and use Buster Shot to deny his Counter Strike stun follow-up on your backline.

    • Rapid Fire after Counter Strike, never before it.
    • Buster Shot during his dodge window is better than trying to auto through it.
    • Rocket Jump landing damage is not enough reason to jump onto him.
    • If Leap Strike is down, you can take a short ranged trade and leave.

  • Karthus

    KarthusFavoured

Tristana wins the duel by dodging Lay Waste and bursting Karthus before Defile can grind her down, though his passive can still finish careless chases.

Watch for Death Defied lets Karthus keep casting after dying, punishing Tristana if she stands near the body.

    How to beat

Fight at max auto range and keep moving between shots so isolated Lay Waste does not chain onto you. Once Wall of Pain is down or avoided, use Rapid Fire to kill him quickly, then Rocket Jump away from his corpse instead of padding damage into Death Defied.

Later Tristana is the better side-lane duelist and turret taker, but Karthus has stronger global teamfight pressure with Requiem. Track your health after skirmishes and do not stay low when his ultimate is available.

    • Move after every auto to make Lay Waste miss or split damage.
    • Wall of Pain is the signal to disengage, not to jump in.
    • Leave Death Defied range immediately after the kill.
    • Buster Shot can create enough space to finish him without standing in Defile.

  • Kassadin

    KassadinUnfavoured

Kassadin's silence and repeated Riftwalks make it difficult for Tristana to use Rocket Jump or maintain range once he reaches level six.

Watch for Null Sphere silences Tristana, preventing Rocket Jump or Buster Shot during Kassadin's burst window.

    How to beat

Punish him hard before Riftwalk by using autos when he walks up for farm. After six, hold Rocket Jump until after his first Riftwalk and avoid casting into his silence; if Null Sphere is down, Rapid Fire plus Buster Shot can force him back before the next jump.

Later Kassadin is much more dangerous in side lanes because he can choose when to enter and leave, while Tristana needs team protection to use her range. Group where Buster Shot and allied crowd control can punish his Riftwalk path.

    • Do not spend Rocket Jump while Null Sphere is mid-flight.
    • His passive does not reduce your auto damage, so early levels are your window.
    • Buster Shot after his first Riftwalk can deny the stacked follow-up.
    • Keep minion waves pushed so he cannot hide Riftwalk angles from fog.

  • Katarina

    KatarinaFavoured

Tristana beats Katarina if she saves Buster Shot for Death Lotus and does not let Shunpo start the fight for free.

Watch for Death Lotus deals its damage only if Tristana stays nearby, forcing an immediate interrupt or escape.

    How to beat

Stay outside Shunpo range when possible and punish her with autos when she uses Bouncing Blade on the wave. If she Shunpos in, Buster Shot Death Lotus instantly or Rocket Jump out, then chase once her reset tools are gone.

Later Tristana wins isolated duels without nearby resets, but Katarina is still dangerous in messy teamfights where kills refresh her cooldowns. Keep Buster Shot available for her ultimate rather than using it for damage on a frontliner.

    • Buster Shot cleanly stops Death Lotus.
    • Do not Rocket Jump onto her if Shunpo is still available to dodge your landing plan.
    • A no-reset Katarina has trouble finishing Tristana through knockback and jump.
    • Fight away from low-health allies so Voracity does not restart the fight.

  • Kayle

    KayleUnfavoured

Kayle can match Tristana's ranged damage during Righteous Fury and Intervention blanks Tristana's all-in timing.

Watch for Intervention makes Kayle immune during Tristana's burst window, wasting Rapid Fire and Buster Shot damage.

    How to beat

Do not commit all cooldowns into Kayle while Intervention is ready. Trade at the edge of Righteous Fury range, back off when Reckoning lands, and force her ultimate with autos before using Rocket Jump to chase after it expires.

Later Kayle remains one of the better side-lane duelists because her invulnerability beats straight DPS races, while Tristana is stronger at hitting structures and playing front-to-back if Kayle ultimate is tracked. In teamfights, swap targets during Intervention instead of tunneling.

    • If she uses Intervention early, save Rocket Jump for the chase after it ends.
    • Reckoning's slow makes aggressive jumps easy to punish.
    • Buster Shot during Intervention is mostly a spacing tool, not damage.
    • Do not stand in minion waves where Righteous Fury splash gives her free value.

  • Kennen

    KennenUnfavoured

Kennen has enough range to mark Tristana and enough all-in control with Slicing Maelstrom to punish her once she is stunned.

Watch for Slicing Maelstrom stacks Mark of the Storm and threatens a stun while Kennen stays on top of Tristana.

    How to beat

Keep the fight at max range and count marks carefully; two marks means you must give ground before Electrical Surge or Slicing Maelstrom completes the stun. Save Rocket Jump for Lightning Rush or ultimate, and use Buster Shot to push him out of storm range before continuing to auto.

Later Kennen is stronger in teamfights because his ultimate controls clumped targets, while Tristana wins damage output if she survives the first engage. Spread from teammates and hold disengage until he commits, then clean up after Slicing Maelstrom ends.

    • Do not jump into him while he has two marks on you.
    • Buster Shot can break Slicing Maelstrom spacing if used immediately.
    • Stand behind minions to make Thundering Shuriken harder to land.
    • Lightning Rush down is your best window to use Rapid Fire aggressively.

  • Kog'Maw

    Kog'MawEven

Kog'Maw outranges and shreds Tristana during Bio-Arcane Barrage, but Tristana has the burst and mobility to win when that window is down.

Watch for Bio-Arcane Barrage gives Kog'Maw superior range and percent-health damage, forcing Tristana out of a straight auto race.

    How to beat

Do not duel into active Bio-Arcane Barrage unless you already have lethal. Back out with Rocket Jump if needed, then re-engage when W expires with Rapid Fire and Buster Shot; dodge Void Ooze so the chase is not slowed.

Later Both scale hard, but Kog'Maw wins protected range wars while Tristana has better self-peel and tower pressure. In teamfights, do not trade front-to-back into his W if you can wait it out or hit another target.

    • His W timer decides the duel more than his ultimate poke.
    • Rocket Jump over Void Ooze rather than walking through the slow.
    • After killing him, jump away from Icathian Surprise immediately.
    • Buster Shot can push him out of Bio-Arcane Barrage range for the last seconds.

  • Lee Sin

    Lee SinUnfavoured

Lee Sin wins if Sonic Wave lands because his follow-up and Dragon's Rage keep Tristana from kiting cleanly.

Watch for Sonic Wave / Resonating Strike gives Lee Sin the targeted gap close that follows Tristana even after she tries to reposition.

    How to beat

Keep minions between you and Sonic Wave and make him spend Safeguard or Tempest before you commit. If Q lands, delay Rocket Jump until after Resonating Strike travels or use Buster Shot as he arrives, then punish only when his second Q and Dragon's Rage are unavailable.

Later Tristana outscales Lee Sin in protected fights, but isolated side lanes are still risky because one landed Q can start a lethal combo. Stay near allied vision and save Buster Shot for his arrival, not for damage.

    • A missed Sonic Wave is your permission to trade with Rapid Fire.
    • Do not Rocket Jump too early after being marked; Resonating Strike can follow.
    • Dragon's Rage can kick you back into his team or away from your escape path.
    • Fight behind minions so he has to reveal his angle.

  • Leona

    LeonaEven

Leona rarely kills Tristana alone, but if Zenith Blade connects her chain crowd control can hold Tristana long enough to lose the duel or be collapsed on.

Watch for Zenith Blade pulls Leona to Tristana and starts her Shield of Daybreak into Solar Flare lockdown.

    How to beat

Stand behind minions or at an angle where Zenith Blade cannot reach cleanly. Once E misses, Leona has to walk through your autos; use Rocket Jump after her crowd control starts rather than before, and Buster Shot her away when Eclipse is ending.

Later Tristana wins the solo lane if Leona is isolated, but Leona is much better at starting teamfights. In fights, treat her as a peel test: hit front line, keep distance, and punish after Solar Flare is down.

    • Zenith Blade missing turns the matchup from scary to free for several seconds.
    • Do not waste Buster Shot while Eclipse is absorbing damage unless you need space.
    • Mercury's Treads matter more here than extra damage if she keeps reaching you.

  • Lulu

    LuluEven

Lulu can deny Tristana's burst with Whimsy, Help, Pix!, and Wild Growth, but Tristana wins if those peel tools are forced before the all-in.

Watch for Whimsy disables Tristana's ability to auto or reposition during the key trade window.

    How to beat

Use short autos to draw out Help, Pix! before committing. Do not Rocket Jump into Lulu while Whimsy and Wild Growth are both available; wait for one cooldown, then use Rapid Fire and chase after Glitterlance is sidestepped.

Later Tristana is a far better side-lane damage threat, but Lulu's late-game value is protecting a carry rather than dueling. In teamfights, do not dive through Lulu cooldowns; swap targets until Whimsy and Wild Growth are spent.

    • Whimsy can waste almost all of Rapid Fire if you cast Q too early.
    • Wild Growth punishes Rocket Jump all-ins at close range.
    • Glitterlance landing means you should reset spacing before trading again.
    • Her 550 range means she can contest autos, but she cannot match extended DPS without cooldowns.

    LuxEven

Tristana wins if Light Binding misses, but Lux can burst her from range and stop Rocket Jump aggression with one root.

Watch for Light Binding roots Tristana long enough for Lucent Singularity and Finales Funkeln to land.

    How to beat

Stay behind minions and move laterally so Lux has to choose between farming and binding you. If Light Binding is down, Rocket Jump or walk forward with Rapid Fire; if it is up, hold W to dodge or escape rather than starting the fight.

Later Tristana is the stronger side-lane duelist and tower killer, while Lux is better at long-range picks before teamfights. Keep minion waves between you and her, and never start objectives while standing in a binding lane.

    • Light Binding missing is the all-in window.
    • Do not jump in a straight line from fog; Lux can pre-aim the landing path.
    • Buster Shot can interrupt her follow-up spacing after she roots an ally, but not the laser once it fires.

  • Malphite

    MalphiteUnfavoured

Malphite is built to punish marksmen: Ground Slam cuts Tristana's DPS, Seismic Shard keeps him attached, and Unstoppable Force gives him the first real hit.

Watch for Ground Slam reduces your attack speed after he reaches you, turning your Rapid Fire window into a weak trade.

    How to beat

Hold maximum auto range and chip off Granite Shield before you ever use Rocket Jump aggressively. If he spends Seismic Shard just to farm or poke, kite backward with Rapid Fire and save Buster Shot for after Unstoppable Force, not before it.

Later Finished Malphite usually wins the side-lane duel if he can ult onto you, while Tristana is far more valuable in the teamfight if she stays outside his engage angle. Stand wide from your frontline so Unstoppable Force cannot start the fight on you for free.

    • Break Granite Shield with one auto before committing Rapid Fire.
    • Do not Rocket Jump in unless Unstoppable Force is down.

Malzahar's point-and-click suppression beats Tristana's mobility unless she has a cleanse item or enough range to force him to waste it.

Watch for Nether Grasp suppresses you through Rocket Jump and holds you in Null Zone for his full damage window.

    How to beat

Play just outside his spell range and use autos to kill Voidlings before they stack damage. Do not Rocket Jump forward while Nether Grasp is available; wait for him to miss Call of the Void or spend Malefic Visions, then trade with autos and hold Buster Shot to interrupt his follow-up spacing after the channel ends.

Later With Quicksilver Sash, Tristana can side-lane and punish Malzahar if he burns Nether Grasp; without it, he can always threaten a clean pick. In teamfights, stay behind vision and make his ult hit a frontliner or get instantly cleansed.

    • Buy Quicksilver Sash when Malzahar is allowed to target you.
    • Do not stand near low minions with Malefic Visions about to bounce.

    Master YiEven

Tristana wins if she preserves Rocket Jump and Buster Shot for Yi's commit, but loses if Alpha Strike or Highlander lets him stick through her first disengage.

Watch for Highlander makes him immune to Rocket Jump's slow and gives him the speed to keep attacking after he lands.

    How to beat

Do not spend Rocket Jump for damage while Highlander is up. Auto him at range, wait for Alpha Strike to end, then Buster Shot him away and Rocket Jump only after he re-commits or starts winning the melee race.

Later Finished Tristana outscales him in structured teamfights if peel exists, but Yi remains dangerous in side lane because resets and Highlander punish one missed disengage. Fight near allies or terrain you can jump over, not in a long open lane.

    • Cast Buster Shot after Alpha Strike reappears, not while Yi is untargetable.
    • Rocket Jump's slow does nothing during Highlander.

    Miss FortuneEven

This is a marksman duel where Tristana has the better all-in reset tools, while Miss Fortune has stronger early trading and a deadly channel if Tristana's displacement is late.

Watch for Bullet Time turns a bad Rocket Jump landing into a full-channel kill unless Buster Shot cancels or displaces her immediately.

    How to beat

Stand away from your minion line so Double Up cannot bounce into you. Trade after her Strut is broken, keep Buster Shot for Bullet Time, and only Rocket Jump forward when Make It Rain is down or she is already low enough to die through the slow.

Later Tristana usually becomes the better side-lane duelist with range scaling, while Miss Fortune's teamfight depends on a protected Bullet Time angle. Your job late is to hit from outside her auto range and cancel the channel the moment she commits.

    • Never line up behind a low minion for Double Up.
    • Buster Shot cancels Bullet Time if you fire it as she channels.

    MorganaEven

Morgana cannot easily force a duel through Tristana's range, but one Dark Binding into Soul Shackles gives her enough control to win.

Watch for Dark Binding roots you long enough for Tormented Soil and Soul Shackles to connect before Rocket Jump can create distance.

    How to beat

Hold max range and move sideways between autos, because the fight is mostly decided by whether Dark Binding lands. If Black Shield is down or already damaged, you can Buster Shot her out of Soul Shackles range; if she has shield available, kite instead of trying to interrupt her.

Later Tristana is the better side-lane threat if she avoids Binding, while Morgana is more relevant around grouped fights with Black Shield and picks. In teamfights, do not stand where one Binding starts the entire fight before you can auto.

    • Black Shield can block Rocket Jump's slow and Buster Shot's displacement if it holds.
    • Buster Shot can break Soul Shackles distance when Black Shield is unavailable.
    • Do not Rocket Jump over obvious Jack-like trap zones; Morgana wants predictable landings for Binding.

Nasus turns the duel with Wither, which removes Tristana's kiting and attack speed while Fury of the Sands lets him survive her burst.

Watch for Wither cripples both your movement and attack speed, so you cannot kite or use Rapid Fire effectively during its ramp.

    How to beat

Harass from your highest range before he is in Wither range and never Rocket Jump toward him while Wither is ready. If he casts Wither, Buster Shot him away early and jump over terrain once the slow becomes too heavy.

Later A farmed Nasus wins most isolated side-lane fights if he reaches Wither range, but Tristana is stronger at sieging and teamfighting from protected distance. Late, treat him like a raid boss: kite with teammates and save displacement for after Wither starts.

    • Do not duel him inside Spirit Fire; the armor shred makes his Q much more lethal.
    • Buster Shot early in Wither is better than waiting until you are barely moving.

    NidaleeEven

Tristana wins sustained ranged fights, but Nidalee wins if a long Javelin Toss or trap-marked cougar commit starts the duel.

Watch for Javelin Toss chunks you from long range and creates the health gap Nidalee needs before entering cougar form.

    How to beat

Fight around minions and short angles so spears cannot travel full distance. If she misses Javelin Toss or uses Primal Surge defensively, push forward with autos; save Rocket Jump for after cougar Pounce, not as the opener into traps.

Later Tristana outscales as a straight DPS carry and wins teamfights if Nidalee cannot poke her first. In side lane, respect brush paths and traps because Nidalee's mobility can reset the fight until one spear lands.

    • Do not chase through brush without clearing Bushwhack angles.
    • A short spear is manageable; a max-range spear usually ends the duel before it starts.
    • Buster Shot after cougar Pounce denies her Takedown finish.
    • Your scaling range eventually lets you hit her without entering cougar threat first.

  • Nunu & Willump

    Nunu & WillumpFavoured

Nunu struggles to kill Tristana alone because he has no dash, and Buster Shot or Rocket Jump denies Absolute Zero.

Watch for Ice Blast slows your movement and attack speed, making his chase and Absolute Zero setup possible.

    How to beat

Keep autoing at max range and do not stand still after Ice Blast lands. Save Rocket Jump or Buster Shot for Absolute Zero; once that channel is canceled or escaped, Rapid Fire lets you win the remaining health race.

Later Tristana beats Nunu in side lane unless he is simply too tanky to finish, while Nunu is mainly a teamfight and objective support. Late, ignore him when better targets are available, but never let Absolute Zero channel for free in your backline.

    • Buster Shot interrupts Absolute Zero by knocking him away.
    • Rocket Jump out of the channel radius if Buster Shot is unavailable.
    • Ice Blast cuts your attack speed, so avoid trading during its slow unless he is already low.
    • He often cannot finish you without help, so do not panic-jump forward.

  • Olaf

    OlafUnfavoured

Olaf is dangerous because Ragnarok ignores Tristana's slow and displacement plan while Undertow keeps her in axe range.

Watch for Ragnarok makes Olaf immune to your crowd control, so Rocket Jump slow and Buster Shot peel cannot stop his all-in while it lasts.

    How to beat

Dodge Undertow first; if the axe hits, back away instead of trying to trade through repeated pickups. When Ragnarok is active, use Rocket Jump for terrain and distance rather than slow value, then re-engage with Rapid Fire only after the immunity expires.

Later Olaf can win side-lane duels by running through your peel, but Tristana is better in late teamfights if teammates can force Ragnarok before he reaches her. Position behind terrain and make him spend ult crossing space, not while already on top of you.

    • Buster Shot does not peel Ragnarok Olaf.
    • Do not fight near his axe pickup path.
    • Rocket Jump over a wall is your cleanest answer to his ult timer.

  • Pantheon

    PantheonUnfavoured

Pantheon's point-and-click stun and early burst punish Tristana before her range scaling takes over, and Aegis Protection blocks key autos.

Watch for Aegis of Zeonia stuns you in place and guarantees Heartseeker Strike unless you already created distance.

    How to beat

Keep him at the edge of your range and remove Aegis Protection with a low-commitment auto before using Rapid Fire. If he jumps with Aegis of Zeonia, Buster Shot immediately after the stun ends and Rocket Jump away from Heartseeker Strike's cone.

Later Tristana outscales Pantheon in teamfights and sieges, but isolated duels stay risky if he can start with stun from fog or Grand Skyfall. Late, force him to walk through vision and make his burst hit armor and health, not your full damage build alone.

    • Pop Aegis Protection before your real trade starts.
    • Do not Rocket Jump into him while his stun is available.
    • Buster Shot after Aegis of Zeonia denies the rest of his melee combo.
    • Ninja Tabi is valuable if his physical burst is repeatedly finding you.

  • Rammus

    RammusUnfavoured

Rammus is one of the worst pure duels because Puncturing Taunt forces Tristana to attack into Defensive Ball Curl and reflected damage.

Watch for Puncturing Taunt makes you auto Rammus during Defensive Ball Curl, turning your own attack speed into damage against yourself.

    How to beat

Do not Rapid Fire while Taunt or Defensive Ball Curl is available. Kite Powerball sideways, wait out Ball Curl, then use Buster Shot after Taunt ends to reset distance and only keep fighting if he cannot re-engage.

Later Rammus usually wins isolated fights against an auto attacker if he reaches taunt range, while Tristana wins teamfights by hitting safer targets and refusing to burn herself on Ball Curl. Late, treat him as peel bait and swap targets when his defensive cooldowns are up.

    • Never press Rapid Fire into Defensive Ball Curl.
    • Buster Shot after Taunt ends; you cannot act during the taunt itself.
    • Sidestep Powerball before it hits instead of jumping after the slow lands.
    • Mercurial Scimitar can remove Taunt and is the cleanest duel item.

  • Ryze

    RyzeUnfavoured

Ryze's point-and-click Rune Prison and low-cooldown spell chain beat Tristana if she enters his range before she can finish him.

Watch for Rune Prison roots you in place, letting Ryze unload Overload, Spell Flux, and Desperate Power while Rocket Jump is unavailable as escape.

    How to beat

Fight only from the edge of your scaling range and back up the moment he walks forward with Rune Prison ready. If he uses Rune Prison without Desperate Power or misses the follow-up spacing, Buster Shot him out and re-enter after the root ends.

Later Finished Tristana can outrange and kill Ryze in teamfights, but the side-lane duel is dangerous if he can flash or walk into Rune Prison range. Buy cleanse or spell shielding when he is the one reaching you, then play front-to-back.

    • Do not Rocket Jump forward into Rune Prison range.
    • Buster Shot after the root creates the space his cooldown cycle wants to deny.
    • Spread away from minions and allies so Spell Flux bounces lose value.
    • QSS turns many Ryze duels from hard lockdown into a kite fight.

  • Shaco

    ShacoEven

Shaco wins with surprise and Jack in the Box fear, while Tristana wins if she survives Deceive's opener and identifies the real target.

Watch for Deceive lets Shaco appear behind you for Backstab damage and start the duel before you can kite.

    How to beat

Avoid isolated brush and keep movement unpredictable so his Deceive angle does not land directly behind you. After he appears, Buster Shot him away before he layers boxes or Hallucinate body-blocking; Rocket Jump only after the fear threat is known.

Later Tristana is far stronger in grouped fights and sieges, but Shaco remains a side-lane and fog-of-war pick threat. Late, stay with warded paths and do not chase the clone through boxes unless you can kill him instantly.

    • If he opens from behind, turn and Buster Shot before continuing autos.
    • Do not Rocket Jump onto a Jack in the Box setup.
    • Check Hallucinate movement before committing all damage into the clone.
    • Sightstone or ward actives matter more than raw stats against Shaco picks.

  • Shen

    ShenEven

Shen is hard to kill through Feint and sustain, but Tristana can kite him unless Shadow Dash lands.

Watch for Shadow Dash taunts you into Shen's melee range and stops Rocket Jump long enough for him to force the trade.

    How to beat

Stand behind minions or at an angle where Shadow Dash cannot pass through you cleanly. If he misses dash, use Rapid Fire to punish Feint's downtime; if he lands it, Buster Shot him away after the taunt and reset before Ki Strike and Vorpal Blade trades add up.

Later Shen rarely kills a careful Tristana in a straight late duel, but he can stall side lane and join fights with Stand United better than she can. Tristana should pressure towers when his ultimate is down and force him to choose between defending and saving allies.

    • Do not stand in a straight line with Shen's Shadow Dash path.
    • Buster Shot after Taunt prevents his follow-up autos from mattering.
    • If Feint is active, wait a beat before spending Rapid Fire.
    • Punish Stand United channel with autos or Buster Shot if he tries it in front of you.

  • Singed

    SingedEven

Tristana wins if she never gets Flung, but Singed wins messy extended chases with Mega Adhesive, Poison Trail, and Insanity Potion stats.

Watch for Fling puts you behind Singed into Poison Trail and often forces Rocket Jump after you have already taken the bad trade.

    How to beat

Kite at max range and never chase directly through his Poison Trail. Save Rocket Jump for after Mega Adhesive or Fling pressure, and use Buster Shot when he activates Insanity Potion and commits in a straight line.

Later Singed can often survive the side-lane duel and force you to waste time chasing, while Tristana is much better at ending teamfights if she ignores him until he has crossed too far. Late, hit him only when he is the closest target and keep enough space to avoid Fling.

    • Do not Rocket Jump into Mega Adhesive; use it to leave the zone.
    • Buster Shot during Insanity Potion buys the time his ult is trying to deny.
    • Chasing through Poison Trail is how he wins without landing much else.

  • Sion

    SionUnfavoured

Sion's point-and-click stun plus shield burst creates a simple engage pattern that Tristana cannot outplay if she is in range.

Watch for Cryptic Gaze stuns you long enough for Death's Caress to detonate and for Sion to start lifestealing with Cannibalism.

    How to beat

Stay outside Cryptic Gaze range and break Death's Caress with autos before he reaches you, or back up until it expires. If he lands stun, Buster Shot as soon as you regain control and kite out Cannibalism rather than fighting his lifesteal head-on.

Later AD Sion can overpower Tristana in side lane if he gets stun range, but Tristana is much better in teamfights where allies can block him and she can hit from scaling range. Late, do not duel him without QSS or enough space to deny his first stun.

    • Do not trade into an active Death's Caress shield unless you can pop it safely.
    • Buster Shot after Cryptic Gaze stops Cannibalism autos from taking over.
    • Executioner's Calling is strong if his lifesteal build is the problem.

  • Sivir

    SivirEven

Tristana has the range and all-in tools, but Sivir can deny one key spell and punish predictable jumps with Boomerang Blade and sustained autos.

Watch for Spell Shield blocks Rocket Jump, Explosive Shot, or Buster Shot and can turn your commit into a lost trade.

    How to beat

Hold max auto range and make Sivir spend Spell Shield on Explosive Shot before you Rocket Jump. Do not jump through the line of Boomerang Blade; commit when it is down or when she has used Spell Shield early. If she shields Buster Shot, you lose your disengage, so save R until the shield is gone.

Later Finished Tristana outscales Sivir in pure range and tower pressure, while Sivir is stronger at starting grouped fights with On The Hunt. In side lane, Tristana wins if she avoids a shielded all-in and keeps the wave from giving Ricochet free damage.

    • Throw Explosive Shot first if you need to break Spell Shield before Buster Shot.
    • Sidestep sideways after she casts Boomerang Blade; the return hit is often the real damage.
    • Rocket Jump after On The Hunt is used, not before, or she can run you down while W is unavailable.
  • Skarner

    SkarnerFavoured

Skarner has to reach melee range to win, and Tristana has Rocket Jump, Buster Shot, and range to break Crystalline Exoskeleton before he can force Impale.

Watch for Impale suppresses you and drags you into melee if Skarner reaches cast range.

    How to beat

Auto his Crystalline Exoskeleton from outside his engage range; once the shield breaks, he loses the speed needed to start the fight. Keep Rocket Jump for after he commits forward, not for poke. If he flashes or somehow reaches you, Buster Shot him away immediately before Crystal Slash uptime stacks up.

Later Tristana wins the side lane when she has room to kite, but Skarner becomes more dangerous in grouped fights where Flash Impale can start on her. Stand behind the first line and save Buster Shot or Quicksilver Sash for the suppression threat.

    • Breaking Crystalline Exoskeleton is the matchup; do not jump in while the shield is active.
    • Buster Shot after Impale range is threatened, not as damage at the start.
    • Fight in open lane, not near brushes or walls where Skarner can shorten the distance.

  • Sona

    SonaFavoured

Sona is fragile and cannot match Tristana's all-in damage unless Crescendo catches Tristana during the jump-in window.

Watch for Crescendo stuns Tristana long enough for Sona to unload Power Chord and escape or set up allies.

    How to beat

Respect her when Crescendo is up and poke from auto range until she uses a spell cycle defensively. If she spends Power Chord or misses Crescendo, Rocket Jump onto her and use Buster Shot only if she tries to kite out with Song of Celerity. Do not let her tag you repeatedly with Hymn of Valor for free before committing.

Later Tristana wins any isolated duel, but Sona is not really meeting her alone later; she wins by enabling a grouped engage. Kill her if she mispositions, otherwise use your range to hit frontliners and keep Rocket Jump for Crescendo follow-up.

    • Track Power Chord; the damage-reduction chord can make your all-in look worse than it is.
    • Rocket Jump after Crescendo is down is almost always lethal.
    • Do not chase through her team just because Sona herself is fragile.

  • Soraka

    SorakaFavoured

Soraka can stall with silence and heals, but she lacks the damage or hard lockdown to beat Tristana alone if Tristana times the engage around Infuse.

Watch for Infuse silences Tristana and can stop Rocket Jump or Buster Shot during the kill window.

    How to beat

Take short autos first and make her use Infuse before you jump. Once silence is down, Rocket Jump in, keep attacking through Astral Blessing, and save Buster Shot for when Wish has already been used or when you need to stop her retreat. If she holds all cooldowns, simply outrange and outpush her instead of forcing into silence.

Later Tristana wins the side lane, but Soraka's real value is keeping a carry alive in grouped fights. Focus Soraka only when she is exposed; otherwise apply damage after Wish or force healing cooldowns before committing to a reset.

    • Infuse can deny your escape as well as your engage, so do not jump while it is ready unless the kill is certain.
    • Expect Astral Blessing's armor to blunt your first burst of autos.
    • If Wish is up, plan for a second health bar before spending Rocket Jump aggressively.

  • Taric

    TaricEven

Taric cannot stick to Tristana without Dazzle, but if he lands the stun at close range his armor aura and burst can make the duel surprisingly dangerous.

Watch for Dazzle stuns Tristana and gives Taric the window to close for Shatter and Radiance.

    How to beat

Stay outside Dazzle range and chip him down while Shatter's armor aura makes short trades less rewarding. If Dazzle is used and does not lead to a kill, Rocket Jump out or re-engage once the stun is gone and his gap-close is spent. Do not jump onto him while Shatter is active unless you can finish through the armor.

Later Tristana wins side lane with space, but Taric is much better in grouped fights where Dazzle starts picks and Shatter boosts his carry. Treat him as a stun delivery champion, not a primary duel target, and keep enough distance that he cannot start on you.

    • Close-range Dazzle damage matters; do not let him walk into point-blank stun range for free.
    • Buster Shot can reset the fight after Dazzle ends if Taric is still in melee.
    • His armor aura makes extended autos worse until you have real penetration or enough completed damage.

  • Teemo

    TeemoUnfavoured

Teemo's Blinding Dart removes Tristana's auto-attack damage during the most important seconds, and mushrooms punish the jump paths she wants to use.

Watch for Blinding Dart blinds Tristana and makes her Rapid Fire window fail.

    How to beat

Do not start the all-in while Blinding Dart is available unless you can Buster Shot him away and reset. Trade from your higher range, force him to use Q defensively, then wait out the blind before committing with Rocket Jump and Rapid Fire. Sweep around likely Noxious Trap paths mentally: never jump into unwarded brush or a narrow lane pocket he has had time to prepare.

Later Tristana outscales in teamfights if she can hit from range, but Teemo controls side lanes with traps and can still beat careless isolated commits. Buy cleanse or tenacity only if blind and slows are deciding fights; otherwise play slower and let minions reveal trap zones.

    • Your Rapid Fire is wasted if it overlaps Blinding Dart.
    • Buster Shot can create distance while blind expires instead of being used as opener damage.
    • If Teemo goes invisible, do not stand still in his auto range waiting for him to choose the first hit.

  • Tryndamere

    TryndamereEven

Tristana can kite Tryndamere well, but Undying Rage lets him ignore lethal damage and punish any Rocket Jump used too early.

Watch for Undying Rage prevents Tryndamere from dying during your burst and lets him keep chasing through Buster Shot damage.

    How to beat

Hold Rocket Jump until after Spinning Slash or until he commits with Ghost-style movement, then slow him on landing and keep walking away. Buster Shot is for creating space during Undying Rage, not for finishing him before it expires. Once his ultimate ends, re-enter with autos or a reset if he is still in range.

Later Side lane depends heavily on space: Tristana wins long lanes with cooldown discipline, while Tryndamere wins if he reaches her after Rocket Jump is down. In teamfights, Tristana should avoid being the target of his first spin and use Buster Shot to deny his five-second window.

    • Do not spend Rocket Jump just to damage him before Spinning Slash is used.
    • Mocking Shout reduces your Attack Damage if your back is turned, so expect lower finishing damage while kiting.
    • Count Undying Rage before committing your final autos.

  • Twisted Fate

    Twisted FateEven

Tristana wins sustained damage and range scaling, but Twisted Fate can decide the fight if Gold Card lands before she creates distance.

Watch for Pick A Card's Gold Card stuns Tristana and sets up Wild Cards plus free autos.

    How to beat

Watch his card cycle and back up when Gold Card is locked; do not Rocket Jump into a guaranteed stun. When Gold Card is down or he locks a different card, step forward with Rapid Fire and force him to retreat. Buster Shot should interrupt his attempt to stay in auto range after the stun, or finish him once his card is spent.

Later Tristana is the stronger finished duelist and teamfight carry, while Twisted Fate wins by choosing fights with Destiny and numbers advantage. In side lane, keep waves managed and leave before Destiny turns the duel into a collapse.

    • A visible Gold Card means stop trading until it is thrown or expires.
    • Rocket Jump can punish a missed Wild Cards angle, but only if Pick A Card is not threatening stun.
    • Destiny revealing you matters if you planned to reset through fog after pushing side lane.

  • Twitch

    TwitchEven

The duel is volatile because Twitch can open from Ambush with stacked venom, while Tristana wins if she survives the opener and uses Buster Shot to break Spray and Pray spacing.

Watch for Ambush gives Twitch the first hit and attack-speed window needed to stack Deadly Venom into Expunge.

    How to beat

Do not stand in places where Twitch can open for free; keep minions or safe angles between you and likely Ambush paths. If he appears with Spray and Pray, Buster Shot him out of his line and Rocket Jump away from Venom Cask slow. If he has already used Ambush and misses the first burst window, Rapid Fire lets you win the straight auto fight.

Later Both are lethal late, but Tristana is safer in front-to-back fights while Twitch can wipe teams from stealth if unseen. In side lane, Tristana wins fair vision fights; Twitch wins ambush fights, so wards and spacing decide more than raw items.

    • Buster Shot can push Twitch out of Spray and Pray's best line before he stacks you fully.
    • Rocket Jumping after Venom Cask lands is much weaker because the slow limits your spacing afterward.
    • If Expunge is down, Twitch loses much of his burst threat and the duel becomes auto-for-auto.

  • Vayne

    VayneUnfavoured

Vayne is built for equal-level duels, and Final Hour plus Condemn makes it hard for Tristana to keep a clean auto-attack fight.

Watch for Condemn knocks Tristana away and stuns her if she is pinned into terrain, ending the duel.

    How to beat

Fight away from walls and hold Buster Shot for Final Hour or for the moment Vayne tumbles forward. Your range advantage matters before she activates ultimate, so take small trades and do not jump into her Condemn angle. If Final Hour is running, kite backward and wait out invisibility windows instead of guessing autos into fog.

Later Vayne is the stronger isolated side-lane duelist when terrain gives her Condemn angles, but Tristana is usually safer and longer-ranged in grouped fights. Force front-to-back fights and make Vayne spend Tumble defensively before committing any jump reset.

    • Never Rocket Jump toward a wall against Vayne unless Condemn is already down.
    • Buster Shot after Final Hour activation buys time through her strongest seconds.
    • Your range lead grows late, but Silver Bolts still wins if she stays attached to you.

  • Veigar

    VeigarUnfavoured

Veigar can kill Tristana through burst if Event Horizon catches her, while Tristana must dodge the cage before she gets to play the auto-attack fight.

Watch for Event Horizon stuns Tristana if she crosses the edge and sets up Dark Matter plus Primordial Burst.

    How to beat

Stay just outside Event Horizon threat and never Rocket Jump directly through the cage edge. If he casts cage and misses the stun, jump or step into range immediately before it comes back up, because his remaining spells are easier to dodge when he is pressured. Buster Shot can finish him or interrupt his spacing, but it will not save you if you are already stunned in the combo.

Later Veigar becomes more dangerous as completed items raise his burst, especially if Tristana has no magic resist. Tristana still wins front-to-back teamfights when she avoids cage, so position wide and keep defensive magic-resist items for games where his combo is aimed at you.

    • Rocket Jump is not a free escape from Event Horizon; touching the rim still stuns you.
    • Punish immediately after cage is down, because that is the real cooldown.
    • Do not stand still after Baleful Strike; Dark Matter often follows where you are expected to kite.

  • Warwick

    WarwickEven

Tristana can kite Warwick before level six and after his ultimate is answered, but Infinite Duress gives him one reliable way to force melee contact.

Watch for Infinite Duress suppresses Tristana and lets Warwick heal and hold her in place.

    How to beat

Keep distance and use autos to chip him before he reaches ultimate range. If Infinite Duress is available, do not spend Rocket Jump aggressively unless you have Buster Shot or Quicksilver Sash ready afterward. Once suppression is gone, knock him away and kite through his Hunter's Call duration rather than standing still into his lifesteal.

Later Warwick is not a better carry than Tristana late, but he can still decide fights by suppressing her. In side lane Tristana wins with cleanse tools and space; in teamfights she should position so Warwick has to ult a frontliner or get peeled instantly.

    • Quicksilver Sash changes this duel more than extra damage does.
    • Buster Shot after Infinite Duress creates the space Warwick needs most.
    • Do not judge his health too early; Hungering Strike and passive healing make close finishes swingy.

  • Wukong

    WukongUnfavoured

Wukong's dash, stealth, armor shred, and knockup give him the tools to reach Tristana and burst her before she can fully use her range.

Watch for Nimbus Strike puts Wukong onto Tristana and starts his burst before Rocket Jump creates distance.

    How to beat

Hold Rocket Jump until after Nimbus Strike, then jump away from the Decoy mind game rather than into it. If he uses Decoy first, wait out the invisibility before spending Buster Shot, because knocking back the clone loses the fight. Respect Cyclone range after he lands; Buster Shot him before the knockup chains your escape.

Later Wukong remains a major teamfight threat because Cyclone can reach carries through the front line. Tristana can win side lane only with enough space and vision to deny flank angles; grouped, she must save displacement for Wukong's real body.

    • Do not auto the Decoy clone while the real Wukong is walking into Cyclone range.
    • Rocket Jump after Nimbus Strike, not before it.
    • Crushing Blow's armor reduction makes the follow-up autos hurt more than his initial dash suggests.

  • Zilean

    ZileanEven

Zilean can kite and revive through Tristana's burst, but he lacks sustained damage if Tristana avoids repeated Time Bomb trades and times the all-in after Chronoshift.

Watch for Chronoshift denies the kill and can make Rocket Jump reset timing fail.

    How to beat

Do not commit everything into a fresh Chronoshift; force it with autos or a partial jump trade, then disengage until the revive mark expires or triggers. Avoid standing near bombs as they tick, and be ready to Rocket Jump after Time Warp is used so his slow does not control the entire fight. Once Rewind has cycled his cooldowns, decide quickly: either leave range or all-in before the next double-bomb pattern.

Later Tristana is the better finished damage dealer, but Zilean changes teamfights by reviving the target she wants to reset from. In side lane she can push him out if she respects bombs; in grouped fights she should swap targets when Chronoshift appears instead of wasting reset timing.

    • A target with Chronoshift is a bad reset target until the mark is gone or consumed.
    • Time Warp's slow can make Rocket Jump feel late, so keep more distance when E is ready.
    • Do not chase a revived Zilean through a second Time Bomb unless Buster Shot is still available.
