Fiddlesticks

The Harbinger of Doom

How this differs from the live game

  • The Abilities are completely different, except for the ultimate Crowstorm (R)
  • Fiddlesticks fear makes the enemy walk randomly

Use 21/0/9 AP jungle masteries: the offense tree gives CDR, AP, magic penetration, and execute damage for Crowstorm bursts. The utility points improve Flash uptime and take Runic Affinity, which was standard for a jungler receiving neutral buffs.

  • Terrify (Q) takes points at levels 3, 14, 15, 17, 18.
  • Drain (W) takes points at levels 1, 4, 5, 7, 9.
  • Dark Wind (E) takes points at levels 2, 8, 10, 12, 13.
  • Crowstorm (R) takes points at levels 6, 11, 16.

Max W first for the safest and fastest jungle clear, then E for silence poke and multi-target damage, leaving Q for last because early fear duration is enough for ganks. Take one point in each basic spell by level 3 so every gank has fear, silence, and Drain threat.

Alternative — E max after an early W point was sometimes used in support or heavy lane-pressure games, but jungle Fiddlesticks normally maxed W first.

Spirit of the Spectral Wraith2,000gSpirit of the Spectral Wraith was the AP jungle item, giving spell vamp, mana regen, CDR, and faster monster damage.

Sorcerer's Shoes1,100gSorcerer's Shoes stack with his passive and magic penetration runes to make early Drain, Dark Wind, and Crowstorm damage threatening.

  • 3

Zhonya's Hourglass3,260gZhonya's Hourglass is the key Fiddlesticks teamfight item because he can Crowstorm into the enemy team and stasis while the ultimate keeps dealing damage.

  • Liandry's Torment2,900gBuy Liandry's Torment when enemies are stacking health and fights last long enough for repeated spell damage.

  • Rylai's Crystal Scepter2,900gBuy Rylai's Crystal Scepter when your team needs extra sticking power after Crowstorm or you need more health before diving.

  • Twin Shadows1,900gBuy Twin Shadows when picks and scouting matter more than raw damage, especially against slippery side-lane champions.

  • Spirit Visage2,750gBuy Spirit Visage against heavy magic damage when you need durability and stronger Drain healing.

  • Guardian Angel2,750gBuy Guardian Angel when you are the primary engage and the enemy team is saving burst for your Crowstorm entry.

21/0/9 is avoided here because support Fiddlesticks needs the Utility keystone more than damage scaling; this page is 0/9/21 with Nimble, Pickpocket, Greed, Wealth, CDR, and summoner cooldowns. The 9 Defense points buy lane durability through health, armor, a little MR, and Veteran's Scars.

  • Crowstorm (R) takes points at levels 6, 11, 16.

Max E first for Season 3 support lane pressure: Dark Wind's range, silence, and bounce damage are your main non-farm contribution. Q is maxed second for longer fear uptime in picks and Crowstorm setups, with one early W for sustain and single-target follow-up.

Alternative — Max Q before finishing E when your lane has little poke value and your team needs guaranteed pick duration more than harassment.

Not the author's. This is a 21/9 offense page for Crittlesticks: Fury, Deadliness, Weapon Expertise, Lethality, Frenzy, Sunder, and Executioner all follow the Brawler's Gloves start into Infinity Edge, Phantom Dancer, Berserker's Greaves, and Ravenous Hydra. The utility splash supports mid lane with Flash mastery, movement, mana regen, and shorter summoner cooldowns. Inferred from the build and text they did publish.

Crittlesticks — rated 9.5/10 from 105 votes on MOBAFire.

What the guide does not publish: the guide names a 4-item core and a menu of options after it rather than a finished six; the guide shows its rune page as an image and never names the runes.

        62 champions, one-on-one
        • Ahri

          AhriUnfavoured

Ahri controls the duel because Charm and Spirit Rush both break Fiddlesticks's Drain windows and let her kite Crowstorm.

Watch for Charm: landing it cancels your channel plan and gives Ahri a full spell rotation before you can Drain back.

          How to beat

Hold outside Charm line and make her spend it before you channel Drain. If she uses Spirit Rush aggressively, fear her after the first dash and drop Crowstorm where her remaining dashes have to exit, not where she started.

Later Ahri is better in side-lane picks, while Fiddlesticks is better in grouped fights if he enters from fog. Do not chase her through open space; force objectives where Crowstorm covers choke points and Spirit Rush cannot fully reset the fight.

          • Dark Wind silence can stop a second Spirit Rush cast if you tag her during the dash sequence.
          • Drain only after Charm is down or Ahri has used Arc-style mobility from Spirit Rush.
          • Crowstorm from brush is much stronger than walking at her, because she outranges your normal spells.
          BuyBanshee's VeilTwin ShadowsSpirit Visage
        • Akali

          AkaliFavoured

Fiddlesticks wins if he fears Akali as she commits, because Drain continues through her melee range and Dark Wind can punish her shroud timing.

Watch for Shadow Dance: it puts Akali directly on top of you and starts the burst window before you can safely channel.

          How to beat

Stand far enough back that Akali must spend Shadow Dance to reach you, then Terrify immediately after she arrives. Do not waste Dark Wind into Twilight Shroud unless you know she is still in bounce range; once she exits or reveals, silence into Drain and hold Crowstorm for her second commit.

Later Akali is more dangerous in side lanes when she can chain kills, but Fiddlesticks has the stronger grouped engage. Keep vision around flanks so she cannot start on you before Terrify, then turn her dive with fear and silence.

          • Save Terrify for Shadow Dance, not Mark of the Assassin poke.
          • Twilight Shroud stalls your targeting, so step out rather than channeling Drain blindly.
          • Crowstorm punishes Akali if she has to stay in shroud to finish the kill.
          BuyZhonya's HourglassBanshee's Veil
        • Alistar

          AlistarEven

Alistar rarely kills Fiddlesticks alone, but Headbutt, Pulverize, and Unbreakable Will deny the Drain-and-fear pattern long enough to escape or set up allies.

Watch for Unbreakable Will: it removes Terrify and heavily reduces Crowstorm damage, taking away your clean all-in.

          How to beat

Do not open with Terrify while his ultimate is ready unless you are only forcing it. Let him use Headbutt or Pulverize first, then Drain after the displacement is gone; commit Crowstorm only when Unbreakable Will is down or he is pinned near terrain.

Later Alistar is not a side-lane duelist, but he is excellent at peeling Crowstorm in teamfights. Fiddlesticks should flank from angles where Alistar must choose between interrupting you and protecting his carries.

          • Terrify before Unbreakable Will is mostly a cooldown trade, not a kill setup.
          • Drain after Headbutt, because the knockback breaks your ideal range.
          • Crowstorm into Alistar's face lets him push you away from the real targets.
          BuyMercury's TreadsRylai's Crystal Scepter
        • Amumu

          AmumuEven

Amumu can interrupt and lock Fiddlesticks down, but if Bandage Toss or Curse of the Sad Mummy is down he cannot outtrade a full Drain.

Watch for Curse of the Sad Mummy: the stun stops your channel and holds you inside Despair while Amumu's follow-up lands.

          How to beat

Keep minions or terrain between you and Bandage Toss, and do not start Drain until either Q has missed or Amumu has already used his ultimate. If he walks in with Despair, Terrify him away and kite before re-channeling.

Later Amumu is stronger as a front-to-back teamfight starter, while Fiddlesticks wins fights by arriving from the side after Amumu commits. In side lane neither should be your priority, but Liandry's-style health damage matters if you must burn him down.

          • Bandage Toss cancelling Drain is the duel's main swing.
          • Fear Amumu away before he reaches Curse range if you are not ready to all-in.
          • Crowstorm after Amumu ults your team is often better than starting first.
          BuyLiandry's TormentSpirit VisageMercury's Treads
        • Anivia

          AniviaUnfavoured

Anivia outranges and controls Fiddlesticks with Flash Frost, Crystallize, and Rebirth, making it difficult to finish her before she resets the fight.

Watch for Flash Frost: the stun cancels Drain and lets Anivia land Frostbite while you cannot heal.

          How to beat

Do not walk straight through Glacial Storm; enter from fog or after Flash Frost is spent. Terrify before Drain, and save enough damage for Rebirth because killing the bird is only half the duel.

Later Anivia owns side-lane wave control and defensive terrain, while Fiddlesticks has the more explosive flank if he avoids her wall. In teamfights, wait for her Q or wall to be committed before channeling Crowstorm into the back line.

          • Rebirth means a marginal all-in is usually bad unless Crowstorm can cover the egg.
          • Crystallize can trap you inside Glacial Storm after your fear ends.
          • Dark Wind silence is valuable before she can recast or reposition with wall control.
          BuyBanshee's VeilTwin ShadowsSpirit Visage
        • Annie

          AnnieUnfavoured

Annie's point-and-click stun burst is faster than Fiddlesticks's sustain pattern, especially once Tibbers is available.

Watch for Pyromania Tibbers: the instant AoE stun and burst can kill or force you off Drain before healing matters.

          How to beat

Track her stun count and back away when Pyromania is ready. If she spends stun on a minion or misses the real burst window, fear her immediately and Drain from maximum range; Crowstorm only works if you arrive from fog before she can buffer Tibbers.

Later Annie remains dangerous in side lanes because her burst is reliable, but Fiddlesticks can outvalue her in teamfights with a deeper flank. Build enough magic resistance or spell protection to survive the first stun, then counter-engage while Tibbers is already down.

          • Do not Drain into a charged stun; it will be cancelled before it pays off.
          • Dark Wind silence after her stun is spent can prevent the follow-up Incinerate or Disintegrate chain.
          • Crowstorm from vision loses because Annie can stun you as you arrive.
          BuyBanshee's VeilTwin ShadowsSpirit Visage
        • Ashe

          AsheEven

Ashe wins open-space kiting with Frost Shot and Volley, but Fiddlesticks wins if he reaches fear range or lands Crowstorm from fog.

Watch for Enchanted Crystal Arrow: the stun stops your engage or Drain and gives Ashe enough distance to kite you down.

          How to beat

Do not chase her in a straight lane while Frost Shot is active. Approach from brush or behind terrain, force Arrow first if possible, then Terrify into Drain before she can build distance.

Later Ashe is stronger in open side lanes, while Fiddlesticks is much stronger in grouped objective fights if he avoids Arrow. Flank from unseen angles and let someone else show first so Arrow is not aimed at your Crowstorm channel.

          • Volley poke matters because it keeps you too low to channel confidently.
          • If Arrow is down, Ashe has no hard answer to Terrify into Drain.
          • Crowstorm must start outside her vision; walking at 600 range gets slowed forever.
          BuyZhonya's HourglassNinja TabiBoots of Swiftness
        • Blitzcrank

          BlitzcrankEven

Blitzcrank can ruin Fiddlesticks with Rocket Grab and knockups, but if his grab misses he has trouble beating fear plus Drain alone.

Watch for Rocket Grab: it pulls you out of safe range and starts the Power Fist chain before you can set up Crowstorm or Drain.

          How to beat

Stand behind minions and punish every missed Rocket Grab with Dark Wind or a short Drain trade. If he hooks you, fear him after Power Fist is used rather than before; his Mana Barrier can bait you, so do not spend Crowstorm only to finish the shield.

Later Blitzcrank is about picks, not side-lane duels, and Fiddlesticks is better in full teamfights. Keep vision control so you are not hooked during Crowstorm setup, then use his missed grab as the green light to engage.

          • Mana Barrier makes low-health Blitzcrank harder to finish than he looks.
          • Power Fist interrupts the moment he reaches melee, so wait it out before Drain.
          • Dark Wind silence after a missed hook can stop Overdrive escape or Static Field timing.

        • Brand

          BrandUnfavoured

Brand's ranged burst and Blaze damage punish Fiddlesticks before Drain can heal enough, and his spell rotation does not require him to stand still.

Watch for Sear: when Brand has applied Blaze, Sear stuns you and stops Drain while Pillar of Flame lands.

          How to beat

Respect Conflagration into Sear and do not channel Drain while you are already ablaze and in stun line. Bait Pillar of Flame, then move in for Terrify; your best kill angle is Crowstorm from fog before Brand can spread Pyroclasm safely.

Later Brand is better in grouped front-to-back damage if you clump, but Fiddlesticks has the stronger fight-winning flank. Spread before engaging, avoid feeding Pyroclasm bounces, and force him to choose between fleeing Crowstorm and finishing his combo.

          • Blaze turns every follow-up spell into a bigger threat than it looks.
          • Drain is poor if Pillar of Flame is still available under your feet.
          • Dark Wind silence can break Brand's combo timing after the first spell hits.

        • Cho'Gath

          Cho'GathUnfavoured

Cho'Gath is too durable to burst and has multiple ways to stop Drain before finishing with Feast.

Watch for Feral Scream: the silence prevents Terrify or Drain and lets Cho'Gath walk into Rupture and Feast range.

          How to beat

Stay outside Feral Scream cone and do not fight in a narrow path where Rupture is easy. If he misses Rupture or uses silence on the wave, Terrify and Drain immediately, then disengage before Feast execute range.

Later Cho'Gath wins most side-lane standoffs through durability and sustain, while Fiddlesticks is more valuable when flanking carries. In teamfights, do not waste full Crowstorm on Cho unless your team can follow with percent-health damage.

          • Feral Scream before your fear makes you helpless for his full walk-up.
          • Feast ignores your Drain comeback once you are low enough.
          • Liandry's Torment matters more here than raw burst because Cho stacks health.

        • Corki

          CorkiUnfavoured

Corki can poke from range, escape Crowstorm with Valkyrie, and keep damaging Fiddlesticks without giving a long Drain channel.

Watch for Valkyrie: it breaks your Crowstorm or Drain position and leaves a damage trail if you chase through it.

          How to beat

Force Valkyrie before committing Crowstorm; without it, Corki is vulnerable to Terrify into Drain. Avoid standing in Gatling Gun range for extended trades, and use Dark Wind to stop his follow-up missiles while you close.

Later Corki is stronger in side lanes and sieges, while Fiddlesticks wins grouped fights by attacking from fog after Valkyrie is used. Do not ult directly onto his escape path; ult behind or beside him so his Valkyrie crosses your team's damage.

          • A visible Crowstorm gives Corki time to Valkyrie away.
          • Phosphorus Bomb and Missile Barrage can keep you too low to all-in.
          • Fear after Valkyrie, not before, if you need the kill.

        • Dr. Mundo

          Dr. MundoUnfavoured

Dr. Mundo is difficult for Fiddlesticks to kill because Sadism and health stacking outlast Drain trades while cleavers keep Fiddlesticks from controlling range.

Watch for Sadism: Mundo heals through your all-in and buys enough time for repeated cleavers to win the extended fight.

          How to beat

Dodge Infected Cleaver first; if it lands, do not commit because the slow lets Mundo keep Burning Agony on you. Fight only when Sadism is down or when you have Grievous Wounds available, then fear him during his walk-up and Drain from maximum range.

Later Mundo is stronger in side lanes once tank items are finished, but Fiddlesticks can ignore him and win the teamfight around carries. Apply anti-heal if your team needs help killing him, but your main job is to Crowstorm past him rather than drain the tank forever.

          • Cleaver slow is what lets Mundo turn a poke pattern into a chase.
          • Sadism can make your Crowstorm look wasted if you target only him.
          • Terrify is best used to create distance, not to start a long tank duel.

        • Evelynn

          EvelynnEven

Evelynn can start the duel on her terms from camouflage, but Fiddlesticks turns it if he survives the first Ravage burst and fears her in melee.

Watch for Shadow Walk: camouflage lets Evelynn choose the opener and removes your chance to pre-position Drain safely.

          How to beat

Keep defensive vision and play near minions or allies when she is missing, because the duel changes if she gets first hit. When she appears, Terrify immediately after Ravage or Agony's Embrace starts, then Drain while she is forced to remain close.

Later Evelynn is better at side-lane picks and flank cleanup, while Fiddlesticks is better in committed 5v5s. Use wards and Twin Shadows-style scouting to deny her first move, then counter-engage when she reveals.

          • If Evelynn opens from behind you, Crowstorm is usually a panic tool, not a clean engage.
          • Dark Wind silence after she appears can stop her from chaining spells for Dark Frenzy speed.
          • Vision items are matchup power here, not just support economy.

        • Ezreal

          EzrealUnfavoured

Ezreal kites Fiddlesticks with Mystic Shot and Arcane Shift, making it hard to hold Drain or keep Crowstorm damage on him.

Watch for Arcane Shift: it exits fear setup or Crowstorm range and resets the spacing Ezreal wants.

          How to beat

Do not spend Terrify until Arcane Shift is down unless you only need to disengage. Stand behind minions to cut Mystic Shot cooldown resets, then Crowstorm from fog and fear after he shifts, not before.

Later Ezreal is safer in side lanes and poke setups, while Fiddlesticks has more decisive grouped engage if he reaches the back line. Force fights around walls where Arcane Shift has limited exits and do not let repeated Mystic Shots soften you before the flank.

          • Mystic Shot hitting you lowers Ezreal's cooldowns, so minion cover matters.
          • Fear before Arcane Shift often just makes him flee in a direction that still saves him.
          • Dark Wind silence can delay his escape if you tag him after Shift.

        • Gangplank

          GangplankEven

Gangplank can cleanse Terrify with Remove Scurvy, but if that cooldown is forced first he has trouble escaping Drain and Crowstorm.

Watch for Remove Scurvy: it clears Terrify and heals, denying your main way to guarantee Drain damage.

          How to beat

Bait Remove Scurvy with a short Terrify trade or let him use it defensively before committing Crowstorm. Stay outside repeated Parrrley poke when possible, then silence and Drain after the cleanse is gone.

Later Gangplank is better at side-lane farming and global pressure, while Fiddlesticks is stronger in grouped objective fights. Watch Cannon Barrage during your channel setup, because the slow and random hits can break the clean entrance your ultimate needs.

          • Terrify is not a real all-in while Remove Scurvy is ready.
          • Parrrley poke can force you too low before either champion commits.
          • Crowstorm after Cannon Barrage is down gives you a much cleaner fight angle.

        • Garen

          GarenUnfavoured

Garen's silence, durability, and execute make him favored if he reaches melee before Fiddlesticks has drained enough.

Watch for Decisive Strike: the movement burst and silence stop your fear or Drain window and let Garen start Judgment for free.

          How to beat

Keep maximum spell range and fear him as Decisive Strike starts, before the silence lands. Never channel Drain while Judgment is already on top of you unless his silence is down and you have enough health to avoid Demacian Justice execute.

Later Garen wins most side-lane duels through tankiness and execute pressure, but Fiddlesticks is far more dangerous in teamfights. Use Crowstorm on his back line instead of trying to burn him first, and let your team kite Garen after his Q is spent.

          • If Decisive Strike lands, your Drain timing is usually gone.
          • Demacian Justice punishes relying on a late Drain heal at low health.
          • Fear him during the Q run-up, then move away before Judgment reaches full value.

        • Gragas

          GragasUnfavoured

Gragas breaks Fiddlesticks's channel with Body Slam or Explosive Cask and wins the trade before Drain can repay the damage.

Watch for Explosive Cask knocks Fiddlesticks out of Drain or Crowstorm and resets the fight on Gragas's terms.

          How to beat

Stay outside Body Slam range and make him spend Barrel Roll before you channel Drain, because eating the slow makes the follow-up guaranteed. Commit only when Explosive Cask is down or when you can fear him before he casts it; otherwise use Dark Wind for short trades and disengage.

Later Finished Gragas is still favored in side lane because he can interrupt every committed channel and heal through poke with Happy Hour. In teamfights Fiddlesticks is more valuable if he enters from fog after Gragas uses Explosive Cask, so do not be the first target he gets to displace.

          • Fear Gragas during Drunken Rage if he channels it in range; denying the setup lowers his burst window.
          • Do not Drain while standing on a primed Barrel Roll unless Body Slam is already down.
          • Crowstorm from fog is much better than point-blank casting, because Gragas has two ways to cancel or eject you.

        • Heimerdinger

          HeimerdingerEven

Fiddlesticks can kill Heimerdinger if he reaches him cleanly, but turrets and grenade punish stationary Drain channels.

Watch for CH-1 Concussion Grenade stuns Fiddlesticks during Drain and lets Heimerdinger's turrets finish the trade.

          How to beat

Do not duel inside a prepared turret nest; thin turrets with Dark Wind bounces and force Heimerdinger to move first. Once grenade is missed or used on the wave, fear him and Drain from the edge of turret range, then Crowstorm only if you can land on Heimerdinger rather than his machines.

Later Heimerdinger is harder to side-lane into because his setup denies direct channels, but Fiddlesticks has the stronger flank teamfight. Buy enough magic resistance to survive poke, then look for Crowstorm angles that bypass the turret line.

          • Dark Wind bouncing through turrets can silence Heimerdinger while clearing his setup.
          • A direct grenade hit stops Drain; sidestep first, channel second.
          • Crowstorming into multiple turrets without fear available usually trades your ultimate for his zone, not his life.

        • Janna

          JannaEven

Janna lacks solo kill pressure, but Howling Gale and Monsoon make it difficult for Fiddlesticks to complete a channel or ultimate.

Watch for Monsoon knocks Fiddlesticks out of Crowstorm's center and can completely waste the engage.

          How to beat

Hold medium range and trade with Dark Wind until Janna spends Howling Gale; never start Drain into a charged tornado. Commit with Terrify first, then Drain, and save Crowstorm for when Monsoon is unavailable or when she must use it defensively before your channel.

Later Neither champion wants a pure side-lane duel late, and Janna's disengage can erase Fiddlesticks's teamfight if she is allowed to watch him enter. Fiddlesticks should flank from fog or force Janna to answer another engage before casting Crowstorm.

          • Do not channel Crowstorm in Janna's vision unless Monsoon is down.
          • Terrify can force Janna to use Eye Of The Storm on herself instead of protecting a carry.
          • Howling Gale interrupts Drain even if Janna is otherwise losing the duel.

        • Jarvan IV

          Jarvan IVUnfavoured

Jarvan IV has reliable gap close, burst, and Cataclysm terrain that keeps Fiddlesticks from spacing while interrupting his channels.

Watch for Demacian Standard plus Dragon Strike knocks Fiddlesticks up and cancels Drain or Crowstorm's setup window.

          How to beat

Stay beyond flag-combo range and make Jarvan use Dragon Strike before you stand still. If he Cataclysms, fear him immediately and Drain only after the knockup is gone; Crowstorm is best used after he commits, not as a visible channel in front of him.

Later Jarvan wins the isolated side lane by forcing all-ins and trapping Fiddlesticks. In teamfights Fiddlesticks can outperform him if he enters after Jarvan dives, but getting caught in Cataclysm before Crowstorm usually loses the fight.

          • Terrify Jarvan after he lands Cataclysm, not before, unless you can stop the engage entirely.
          • A missed flag combo is your best window to Drain.
          • Crowstorm can punish Jarvan's backline dive if you channel from outside Cataclysm vision.

        • Jax

          JaxUnfavoured

Jax reaches Fiddlesticks reliably and his sustained melee damage outpaces Drain once fear ends.

Watch for Leap Strike closes the gap and starts the all-in before Fiddlesticks can kite or safely channel.

          How to beat

Hold max spell range and use Terrify only after Jax commits with Leap Strike, otherwise he simply waits it out and jumps later. Drain during the fear, then disengage before Counter Strike and Empower attacks stack up; do not try to win a long melee fight.

Later Jax heavily wins side lane once finished and forces Fiddlesticks away from isolated farm. Fiddlesticks should avoid matching him alone and instead use Crowstorm in teamfights where Terrify can peel Jax off a carry or lock him during his dive.

          • Counter Strike does not stop Drain, but the stun after it can cancel your next channel.
          • If you fear Jax before Leap Strike, you have no answer when he jumps afterward.
          • Zhonya's can buy time inside his all-in, but it does not make the side-lane duel good.

        • Karthus

          KarthusFavoured

Fiddlesticks can silence and fear Karthus through his damage pattern, then outheal Lay Waste with Drain if he avoids standing in Defile too long.

Watch for Death Defied keeps Karthus casting after death, so winning the duel can still kill Fiddlesticks if he stays nearby.

          How to beat

Walk unpredictably at medium range to dodge isolated Lay Waste, then punish with Dark Wind silence into Terrify and Drain. Once Karthus is low, back away before or immediately after the kill so Death Defied does not turn your win into a trade.

Later Karthus is better at global pressure and cleanup, while Fiddlesticks has the stronger instant flank if he catches grouped targets. In side lane Fiddlesticks can still kill him, but must respect Wall of Pain into Defile and never linger in passive range after the finish.

          • Dark Wind can interrupt Requiem if Karthus channels it in range before dying.
          • Terrify makes it much harder for Karthus to land isolated Lay Waste during your Drain.
          • Leave Death Defied range instead of channeling one more spell on the corpse.

        • Kassadin

          KassadinUnfavoured

Kassadin's magic damage reduction, silence, and Riftwalk mobility deny Fiddlesticks the clean channel he needs to win.

Watch for Null Sphere silences Fiddlesticks and cancels his ability to answer with Terrify or Drain during Kassadin's burst window.

          How to beat

Do not start Drain while Null Sphere is ready; bait it with movement or Dark Wind, then fear and Drain immediately after the silence expires. Keep enough distance that Riftwalk has to be used to enter rather than dodge, and disengage if he stacks multiple Riftwalks for burst.

Later Kassadin wins side lane decisively once finished because he chooses every engage and can leave Crowstorm. Fiddlesticks must play teamfights from fog, using fear or silence after Kassadin Riftwalks in rather than trying to chase him.

          • Dark Wind silence is strongest after Kassadin Riftwalks forward, when he cannot instantly recast.
          • A visible Crowstorm channel gives Kassadin time to Riftwalk away or silence you.
          • Magic resistance matters more than armor here, but positioning matters more than both.

          KatarinaFavoured

Fiddlesticks has two direct answers to Katarina's channel and can stop her burst long enough for Drain to win.

Watch for Death Lotus deals lethal damage if Fiddlesticks wastes Terrify and Dark Wind before Katarina commits.

          How to beat

Hold Terrify or Dark Wind specifically for Death Lotus; do not spend both just to poke. When Katarina Shunpos in, fear her, Drain through the reduced-damage window, and interrupt Death Lotus the moment she starts it.

Later Katarina is more dangerous in messy teamfights with resets, but Fiddlesticks's silence and fear are excellent at denying her first kill. In side lane Fiddlesticks still wins if he keeps an interrupt for Death Lotus and does not let her poke him down for free.

          • Dark Wind can stop Death Lotus even if Terrify is on cooldown.
          • Fear after Shunpo, not before, so Katarina cannot simply wait and blink onto you.

Kayle outranges Fiddlesticks during Righteous Fury and Intervention denies his burst or Drain finish.

Watch for Intervention makes Kayle immune during Fiddlesticks's committed Crowstorm or Drain window.

          How to beat

Stay outside Righteous Fury uptime as much as possible and use Dark Wind to trade when Kayle last-hits or backs away. Bait Intervention with fear and Drain before committing Crowstorm; if she ults early, walk out and re-engage after immunity ends.

Later Kayle wins side lane because she can kite, sustain, and nullify Fiddlesticks's kill window. In teamfights Fiddlesticks should not ult the champion Kayle is watching; force Intervention first or Crowstorm onto targets she cannot save in time.

          • Reckoning's slow makes Drain spacing much worse; do not let it start the trade for free.
          • If Kayle uses Intervention on herself, stop spending damage and reposition inside Crowstorm's edge.

          KennenUnfavoured

Kennen's range, mobility, and repeated stuns interrupt Fiddlesticks's channels and punish him for standing still.

Watch for Slicing Maelstrom stacks Mark of the Storm and stuns Fiddlesticks during Drain or Crowstorm.

          How to beat

Play at max Dark Wind range and avoid taking a free Mark from Thundering Shuriken before the fight starts. Commit only after Lightning Rush or Slicing Maelstrom is down; if Kennen rushes in, fear him immediately and move out before the third mark stun lands.

Later Kennen is safer in side lane because he can disengage and stun through Fiddlesticks's channel. Teamfights are volatile: Fiddlesticks can match his area damage, but he must enter from a different angle and avoid being the first target marked by Slicing Maelstrom.

          • One Mark on you changes the fight; Kennen can threaten stun off Electrical Surge if you stay close.
          • Terrify during Lightning Rush can stop Kennen from reaching the perfect ultimate position.

          Kog'MawEven

Fiddlesticks wins if he gets into fear range, but Kog'Maw's Bio-Arcane Barrage and Void Ooze can keep him out long enough to kill him.

Watch for Bio-Arcane Barrage extends Kog'Maw's range and shreds Fiddlesticks before Terrify or Drain can start.

          How to beat

Do not walk straight through Void Ooze; wait out the slow or approach from fog with Crowstorm. If Kog'Maw has Bio-Arcane Barrage active, break line and let it expire, then fear into Drain before he can kite again.

Later Kog'Maw wins open side-lane space if he sees Fiddlesticks coming, but he dies quickly to a fog-of-war Crowstorm. In teamfights Fiddlesticks should flank past the frontline and force Kog'Maw to spend his range window defensively.

          • After killing Kog'Maw, move away from Icathian Surprise instead of finishing Drain in place.
          • Dark Wind silence can stop Living Artillery follow-up while you close distance.

          Lee SinUnfavoured

Lee Sin's mobility, burst, reveal, and Dragon's Rage make it hard for Fiddlesticks to complete any stationary damage.

Watch for Dragon's Rage kicks Fiddlesticks out of Drain or Crowstorm and turns the fight into Lee Sin's burst combo.

          How to beat

Stand behind minions to deny Sonic Wave and do not channel Drain until Lee Sin has spent Q or E. If he takes Resonating Strike, fear him on arrival and Drain during the forced downtime; never Crowstorm in his vision while Dragon's Rage is available.

Later Lee Sin still wins isolated duels by choosing the engage and interrupting channels. Fiddlesticks scales better as a teamfight threat, but he needs hidden angles and must wait for Lee Sin to commit his kick elsewhere or be controlled first.

          • Tempest reveals you, so brush channels are unsafe if Lee Sin is close.
          • Fear after Resonating Strike lands to stop his passive-enhanced follow-up attacks.

Leona can interrupt Fiddlesticks repeatedly, but she lacks the solo damage to beat Drain unless she chains crowd control cleanly.

Watch for Zenith Blade into Shield of Daybreak locks Fiddlesticks down and cancels his ability to kite or channel safely.

          How to beat

Stay outside Zenith Blade line range and poke with Dark Wind when Leona has to walk forward. If she connects, wait out the stun chain, fear her after Shield of Daybreak, and Drain once Eclipse's defensive window is fading.

Later Leona is not a serious side-lane duelist against Fiddlesticks unless allies are nearby, but her teamfight lockdown can ruin Crowstorm. Fiddlesticks should track Solar Flare and enter after Leona commits onto someone else.

          • Draining into Eclipse's peak resistances wastes your best damage window.
          • Terrify after Leona arrives is stronger than fearing before Zenith Blade, unless it stops the cast outright.

Lulu's range, polymorph, shield, slow, and Wild Growth deny Fiddlesticks's burst window and make Drain unreliable.

Watch for Whimsy disables Fiddlesticks during his engage and prevents Terrify or Drain from starting on time.

          How to beat

Do not force through Glitterlance slow; hold distance and wait for Whimsy to be used for speed or poke before committing. Once Whimsy is down, fear Lulu immediately and Drain through Help, Pix!, saving Crowstorm for after Wild Growth or from fog where she has less time to react.

Later Lulu is poor at killing Fiddlesticks alone but excellent at denying him in teamfights, especially by saving his target. Fiddlesticks should flank onto multiple champions so Wild Growth on one target does not answer the whole Crowstorm.

          • Whimsy interrupts your plan even when it does not deal damage; track it like a hard stun.

        • Lux

          LuxEven

Lux wins at long range, but Fiddlesticks wins if he dodges Light Binding and gets close enough to fear and Drain.

Watch for Light Binding roots Fiddlesticks outside Drain range and sets up Lucent Singularity plus Finales Funkeln.

          How to beat

Stay behind minions and move diagonally until Light Binding is down; that cooldown decides whether you can walk forward. Once it misses, close to Terrify range, silence with Dark Wind, and Drain before Lux can create distance with Lucent Singularity.

Later Lux controls open lanes better and can clear or poke before Fiddlesticks reaches her, but she is vulnerable to hidden Crowstorm flanks. In teamfights Fiddlesticks should avoid front-to-back approaches through binding angles and attack from side fog.

          • Do not Drain while Lux is holding Light Binding; the root cancels your spacing and sets her combo.
          • Dark Wind can interrupt her follow-up timing after she shields or zones.
          • Crowstorm over a wall is the cleanest way to bypass Lux's range advantage.

        • Malphite

          MalphiteEven

Malphite is hard to burst through Granite Shield and can interrupt with Unstoppable Force, but he lacks sustained damage if Fiddlesticks survives the engage.

Watch for Unstoppable Force knocks Fiddlesticks up and cancels any visible Drain or Crowstorm channel window.

          How to beat

Break Granite Shield with Dark Wind before committing and avoid letting Seismic Shard start the fight on his slow. If Malphite ults in, fear him after the knockup and Drain once Ground Slam is used; your sustain beats him if he cannot reset the shield.

Later Malphite is safer as a side-lane tank and can always threaten engage, but Fiddlesticks brings more damage if Crowstorm lands after Malphite's initiation. In teamfights, wait for Unstoppable Force to be spent or channel from fog where he cannot cancel you first.

          • Do not spend full Crowstorm into an untouched Granite Shield if Malphite can simply walk out.
          • Seismic Shard stealing movement speed makes chasing him after fear much harder.
          • Once Unstoppable Force is down, Malphite has few ways to stop Drain.

        • Malzahar

          MalzaharUnfavoured

Malzahar wins if he starts the trade because Nether Grasp suppresses Fiddlesticks through Drain and holds him inside Null Zone damage.

Watch for Nether Grasp suppresses you, stops Drain value, and lets Malzahar stack Null Zone and Malefic Visions for a full channel.

          How to beat

Stay just outside 550 range and make Malzahar spend Call of the Void or Malefic Visions before you walk up. Commit only when Nether Grasp is down or when you can open from fog with Crowstorm into Terrify before he can press R. If he has Voidling nearby, do not Drain through it unless you are sure Dark Wind can silence him first.

Later Malzahar is still the better isolated pick champion because suppression is clean and reliable, but Fiddlesticks has the stronger hidden-angle teamfight. Buy a cleanse or spell shield if he is saving Nether Grasp for you, and use Crowstorm from outside vision instead of front-lining into his R.

          • Dark Wind can interrupt his follow-up casting, but it does not save you once Nether Grasp has already started.
          • Voidling can eat bounces and add damage during Drain trades, so clear space before dueling.
          • Crowstorm first is better than Drain first; Malzahar punishes stationary channels too hard.
          • If his ultimate is down, Terrify plus Drain can actually run him out of the fight.

          Master YiEven

Fiddlesticks can beat Master Yi with Terrify into Drain, but Yi can dodge key damage with Alpha Strike and outlast a mistimed fear with Meditate or Highlander pressure.

Watch for Alpha Strike can make your Drain or Crowstorm timing miss its best window while Yi reappears in melee range.

          How to beat

Hold Terrify until Yi exits Alpha Strike, then fear him immediately and Drain while he is forced to run. Do not open with Drain if Alpha Strike is available, because he can break the clean channel window. If he uses Meditate, either silence it with Dark Wind or use the pause to reposition for Crowstorm damage.

Later Yi wins the side lane if he can repeatedly force cooldowns and reset fights, while Fiddlesticks is far more valuable in grouped fights. Ward flanks, fear Yi after he commits, and make him spend Alpha Strike before your team stacks on Crowstorm.

          • Terrify after Alpha Strike, not before it, is the matchup.
          • Dark Wind is your answer to Meditate if it bounces or lands cleanly.
          • Highlander ignores slows, but not fear or silence.

        • Miss Fortune

          Miss FortuneFavoured

Miss Fortune has high ranged damage, but her main kill threat is a channel that Fiddlesticks can stop with Terrify or Dark Wind.

Watch for Bullet Time can erase you if you are feared, slowed, or forced to Drain in its cone without an interrupt ready.

          How to beat

Avoid standing behind minions where Double Up can tag you, and keep enough side angle that Make It Rain does not trap you in Bullet Time. Once she channels Bullet Time, interrupt it with Terrify or Dark Wind and then Drain while she has no burst window. Crowstorm from fog beats her if she has already used Strut to posture forward.

Later Miss Fortune scales better as a backline damage dealer in front-to-back fights, but Fiddlesticks can decide fights if he reaches her flank. In side lane she should not beat you unless she kites Terrify range perfectly; in teamfights, save a disable for Bullet Time.

          • Never Drain in a straight line in front of her when Bullet Time is ready.
          • Dark Wind can stop Bullet Time without spending Terrify if it lands during the channel.
          • Break Strut with any damage before trying to close the last step.
          • Minion positioning matters because Double Up can win poke trades before the duel starts.

        • Morgana

          MorganaUnfavoured

Black Shield blocks Fiddlesticks's fear and silence while Morgana can bind or ult him out of his Drain setup.

Watch for Black Shield denies Terrify and Dark Wind crowd control, removing the normal window where Fiddlesticks gets a free Drain channel.

          How to beat

Do not cast Terrify into Black Shield unless the shield is already low enough to break. Bait it with Dark Wind or Crowstorm damage, then fear her after it expires and step out of Tormented Soil before channeling Drain. If she lands Dark Binding first, the duel usually becomes her fight to control.

Later Morgana is harder to pick in side lanes and can protect carries from your first disable, but Fiddlesticks has the bigger surprise engage if Black Shield is forced early. In teamfights, track who receives Black Shield and ult onto the other side of the formation.

          • Black Shield blocks Terrify even if Morgana is already in Crowstorm.
          • Drain while standing in Tormented Soil is a losing trade unless she is feared.
          • Dark Binding gives her enough time to set up Soul Shackles, so sidestepping Q is mandatory.

          NasusFavoured

Nasus struggles to reach or stop Fiddlesticks, and Wither does little against a spell-channel duel once Terrify creates space.

Watch for Fury of the Sands lets Nasus survive your first rotation and punish you if you Drain while standing in his ultimate aura.

          How to beat

Keep him at the edge of Terrify range and punish every walk-up with fear into Drain. If he activates Fury of the Sands, kite backward during the fear and do not stand next to him just to finish a channel. Save Dark Wind for when he tries to re-enter after Wither, since silence prevents the next Siphoning Strike setup.

Later Nasus eventually becomes the stronger side-lane champion if he has farmed Siphoning Strike, but he still hates being feared in teamfights. Fiddlesticks should not play a long split-push duel late; group, force fights, and make Nasus walk through Crowstorm to reach carries.

          • Wither barely reduces your Drain damage, so do not panic if you already have distance.
          • Do not Drain inside Fury of the Sands unless Terrify is still active.
          • His lifesteal matters only if he can keep attacking, so fear before he gets repeated Qs.

        • Nidalee

          NidaleeEven

Nidalee wins long poke and brush fights, but Fiddlesticks wins if he dodges Javelin Toss and catches her cougar form with Terrify.

Watch for Javelin Toss can chunk you before the duel starts, making any later cougar all-in impossible to Drain through.

          How to beat

Do not duel from foggy brush lanes where Prowl and traps let Nidalee choose the angle. Sidestep Javelin Toss first, then move forward while it is down and hold Terrify for cougar Pounce or Takedown range. If she stays human and heals, use Crowstorm from fog rather than walking through repeated spears.

Later Nidalee controls side lanes and siege poke better, while Fiddlesticks has the stronger hard commit in a grouped fight. Force fights from dark angles instead of letting her throw spears until someone is too low to follow your engage.

          • Bushwhack reducing Magic Resist makes your own passive less of an advantage, so avoid trap paths.
          • Fear cougar form after Pounce; fearing human form often just lets her reset and heal.
          • Drain is strong after she commits, weak while she is still kiting at spear range.
          • Crowstorm from unwarded brush punishes Nidalee harder than a visible walk-up.

        • Nunu & Willump

          Nunu & WillumpEven

Nunu is hard to kill through Consume-style sustain and Ice Blast slows, but Fiddlesticks can interrupt Absolute Zero and win if Nunu cannot kite the Drain channel.

Watch for Ice Blast slows your approach and lets Nunu disengage before Drain or Crowstorm gets full value.

          How to beat

Do not chase through repeated Ice Blast trades; make Nunu come close enough that Terrify guarantees a Drain channel. Save Terrify or Dark Wind for Absolute Zero, because interrupting that channel removes his real burst. If he has no minion or monster to Consume, your sustained damage matters much more.

Later Nunu is more of a teamfight utility champion than a duelist, and Fiddlesticks has the more lethal engage. In late fights, interrupt Absolute Zero quickly and avoid wasting Crowstorm on a target who is only buying time with tank stats.

          • Absolute Zero is never allowed to channel for free; keep one interrupt available.
          • A nearby minion wave helps Nunu because Consume can reset the health race.
          • Ice Blast can stop you from ever getting Drain range, so force fights from fog or corners.
          • Blood Boil matters more when an ally is present; the pure 1v1 is slower.

        • Olaf

          OlafUnfavoured

Olaf is one of Fiddlesticks's worst duelists because Ragnarok ignores Terrify and he can keep closing with Undertow while dealing true damage.

Watch for Ragnarok makes Olaf immune to Terrify and silence, removing Fiddlesticks's normal protection during Drain or Crowstorm.

          How to beat

Bait Ragnarok before committing Crowstorm, then disengage until it ends if you have room. Fight only after he misses Undertow or throws it past you, because repeated axe pickups let him stick through Drain. If he ults on top of you, use Zhonya's or terrain rather than trying to out-channel his melee damage.

Later Olaf remains the better side-lane duelist and can run through your crowd control in messy fights. Fiddlesticks should play for flank ultimates onto Olaf's backline, then use stasis or team peel when Olaf activates Ragnarok.

          • Do not spend Terrify into Ragnarok; it will not protect you.
          • Undertow pickup chains are the real chase, so move away from the axe landing spot.
          • Reckless Swing ignores your healing race because it deals true damage.

        • Pantheon

          PantheonUnfavoured

Pantheon's targeted stun and early physical burst interrupt Fiddlesticks's setup before Drain can win the trade.

Watch for Aegis of Zeonia stuns you on entry and guarantees Heartseeker Strike damage while your Drain channel is denied.

          How to beat

Stay outside his leap range until he uses Spear Shot or commits to a minion, then answer with Terrify before he can chain stun into Heartseeker Strike. If Aegis of Zeonia is up, do not start Drain first; you need fear or silence to create the channel. Crowstorm can beat him only from fog or after his stun is down.

Later Pantheon falls off as a side-lane scaling threat compared with true duelists, but he can still delete Fiddlesticks if he finds the first stun. In teamfights, Fiddlesticks offers far more area control; build armor or stasis and punish Pantheon after he spends his targeted engage.

          • Aegis Protection does not stop your spells, so do not waste time breaking it with autos.
          • Terrify must come before Heartseeker Strike starts dealing full champion damage.
          • Grand Skyfall matters mostly for arrival angles, not the 1v1 once he lands.

        • Rammus

          RammusEven

Rammus is too tanky to burst and can taunt Fiddlesticks out of position, but he lacks the damage to win quickly if his engage is feared or silenced.

Watch for Puncturing Taunt interrupts your plan by forcing you to attack Rammus while Tremors and Defensive Ball Curl are running.

          How to beat

Keep distance from Powerball paths and fear him after Powerball connects or misses, not while he is still rolling out of range. Avoid attacking into Defensive Ball Curl during taunt windows and use Drain only when taunt is down. If he uses Tremors, move away first, then channel after the pulsing damage zone is no longer stacked under you.

Later Rammus is not usually looking for a clean duel with Fiddlesticks; he wants to start fights and lock you during Crowstorm. Late, his side-lane kill pressure is moderate, but his teamfight disruption is dangerous, so hold Terrify for his roll-in or taunt follow-up.

          • Dark Wind silence after Powerball can stop the immediate taunt follow-up.
          • Defensive Ball Curl's magic resist makes burst trades inefficient.
          • Do not auto him during taunt longer than forced; reposition the moment control ends.

        • Ryze

          RyzeUnfavoured

Ryze's point-and-click Rune Prison and fast spell cycling punish Fiddlesticks's short range and interrupt his ability to choose the fight.

Watch for Rune Prison roots you in Ryze's spell range, letting him chain Overload and Spell Flux while you cannot reposition for Drain or Crowstorm.

          How to beat

Do not walk straight into 550 range; use fog or brush so your first contact is Terrify or Crowstorm, not Rune Prison. If Rune Prison is down, commit immediately with Terrify into Drain before Arcane Mastery refreshes his rotation. Avoid fighting near minions because Spell Flux bounces and Magic Resist reduction make his sustained damage much worse.

Later Ryze becomes a stronger side-lane duelist with completed mana and cooldown items, while Fiddlesticks remains the more explosive teamfight champion. Late, use Banshee's or MR to survive the first root and prioritize flanks that force Ryze to turn instead of free-cast.

          • Spell Flux reducing Magic Resist stacks painfully with your short engage range.
          • Drain loses value if Rune Prison keeps you just outside ideal spacing.
          • Crowstorm from vision is easy for Ryze to root and kite; fog matters.

          ShacoUnfavoured

Shaco wins when he controls the opener with Deceive and Jack In The Box fear, while Fiddlesticks wins only if he identifies the real target and fears him after the jump.

Watch for Deceive gives Shaco the first hit from behind and lets him start the fight before Fiddlesticks can aim Terrify.

          How to beat

Stand away from obvious box nests and avoid brush paths where Jack In The Box can chain fear you before Shaco appears. Hold Terrify until Deceive ends and the real Shaco is targetable, then Drain only after boxes are not in range to interrupt or redirect pressure. If he casts Hallucinate, stop tunneling the clone and use Dark Wind or Crowstorm damage to reveal the real health bar pattern.

Later Shaco is still the better isolated picker and split threat, but he hates grouped fights where Fiddlesticks can punish his backline dive. Buy vision, keep lanes warded, and force him to enter through controlled space instead of accepting blind jungle duels.

          • Jack In The Box fear can ruin Drain even if Shaco himself is feared.
          • Do not Terrify the clone unless it is the only way to avoid lethal damage.
          • Backstab means facing direction matters when Deceive is missing from vision.

Shen is durable and disruptive, but he lacks the damage to beat Fiddlesticks through Terrify and Drain unless he lands repeated taunts under favorable terrain.

Watch for Shadow Dash taunts you out of Drain and can drag you into a position where Shen keeps trading with Vorpal Blade sustain.

          How to beat

Hold enough distance that Shadow Dash must be used predictably, then sidestep or fear him as it ends. Once taunt is down, Drain is stronger than his sustained damage unless he can walk out. Save Dark Wind to stop Feint or Stand United only if the duel turns into a nearby skirmish.

Later Shen contributes more through Stand United and taunt peel than by killing Fiddlesticks in a side lane. Fiddlesticks should force grouped fights when Shen's ultimate is committed elsewhere, or ult the backline after Shen has used Shadow Dash.

          • Fear after Shadow Dash misses gives you the cleanest Drain window.
          • Do not waste Crowstorm only to kill Shen unless his team cannot collapse.
          • Stand United is the real late-game interaction, even though it is not a 1v1 tool.

          SingedEven

Singed can break Fiddlesticks's channel by forcing movement with Fling and poison trails, but he is vulnerable if feared before he reaches throw range.

Watch for Fling cancels your spacing plan by throwing you behind Singed, often into Poison Trail and away from a clean Drain channel.

          How to beat

Do not chase Singed through Poison Trail; make him run at you and fear him before Fling range. Use Drain only after Fling is down or while he is feared, because being displaced ruins the trade. If he uses Insanity Potion, kite backward and let Crowstorm punish his path rather than trying to stand still inside poison.

Later Singed is the better side-lane nuisance and can proxy or drag fights out, while Fiddlesticks has the more decisive teamfight engage. Late, avoid matching his endless chase pattern and instead punish his team when he moves too far forward.

          • Mega Adhesive makes Crowstorm positioning awkward, so do not ult into the center of it.
          • Fling can pull you out of Drain range even when you started well.
          • Never follow a low-health Singed in a straight line through Poison Trail.

Sion's targeted stun and shield burst give him the first clean trade, and Cannibalism can overpower Drain if he stays in melee range.

Watch for Cryptic Gaze stuns you on target and lets Sion detonate Death's Caress or close for Enrage attacks before you can channel safely.

          How to beat

Stay outside his stun range until Death's Caress is used or low, then fear him before he can walk in with the shield active. Do not Drain into a full shield unless you are using it only to buy time; break or wait it out first. If he activates Cannibalism, kite during Terrify and avoid letting him refresh health through repeated attacks.

Later Sion becomes a much scarier side-lane stat check if built around attacks and lifesteal, while Fiddlesticks is stronger in clustered fights. Use stasis or armor against his engage and save Terrify for after his stun window, not for poke.

          • Death's Caress can absorb your first rotation and then explode, so respect the shield timer.
          • Cryptic Gaze is point-and-click; spacing is your only dodge.
          • Cannibalism beats Drain if he is freely attacking you.

Sivir can block the first key spell with Spell Shield, but if Fiddlesticks baits it out he wins the close-range channel fight.

Watch for Spell Shield can eat Terrify, turning your all-in into a short-range fight where Sivir kites with On The Hunt and Boomerang Blade.

          How to beat

Do not throw Terrify first into an unused Spell Shield; pop it with Dark Wind or wait for Sivir to shield a Crowstorm tick. Once Spell Shield is gone, fear immediately and Drain before she creates distance with Fleet of Foot or On The Hunt. Stand off the minion line so Boomerang Blade and Ricochet do not soften you before the real engage.

Later Sivir is better in front-to-back teamfights if she can speed her team away from Crowstorm, but she is vulnerable when caught without Spell Shield. Late, Fiddlesticks should force her shield early, then engage from an angle that On The Hunt cannot simply outrun.

          • Dark Wind is the cleanest way to test Spell Shield without losing Terrify.
          • Boomerang Blade hurts twice; sidestep the return path before channeling.
          • Her short attack range makes her punishable once Spell Shield is down.

Fiddlesticks wins if he keeps Skarner out of melee long enough to channel Drain, but loses when Skarner reaches him with shield speed and suppresses the channel.

Watch for Impale suppresses Fiddlesticks, cancels Drain, and drags him out of Crowstorm damage.

          How to beat

Hold just outside Skarner's engage range and tag him with Dark Wind before he can run in behind Crystalline Exoskeleton. Save Terrify for after his shield speed commits, then Drain while he is feared and has no clean way to interrupt. Do not start Crowstorm where he can simply Impale you out of it.

Later Skarner is more reliable in side-lane catches because Impale punishes Fiddlesticks alone, while Fiddlesticks is much stronger in grouped fights if he enters from fog. Buy time with wards and use Crowstorm after Skarner has spent Impale on someone else or cannot reach you.

          • Terrify after Crystalline Exoskeleton starts, not before he has chosen the chase.
          • If Skarner walks through minions, Dark Wind can bounce silence and delay his spell rotation.
          • Drain is unsafe while Impale is ready unless Skarner is already feared.

          How to beat

Respect her 550 range poke, but do not let her chip you forever for free; answer with Dark Wind when she steps near minions or her aura partner. Bait Crescendo with a short walk forward, then Terrify and Drain once it is down. If you have Crowstorm, enter from fog because Sona has little health to survive the full damage.

Later Sona does not want a side-lane duel, but her teamfight value is high if Crescendo catches Fiddlesticks before he channels. Flank instead of frontlining and force her to choose between stopping you and saving Crescendo for your carries.

          • Dark Wind punishes Sona hardest when she stands near one ally or a minion wave.
          • Do not Drain in front of Crescendo unless Terrify has already disabled her.
          • Power Chord damage reduction can blunt your burst, so wait out the empowered hit if possible.

          SorakaFavoured

Soraka's silence and heals can delay the kill, but she lacks damage and mobility once Fiddlesticks gets Terrify and Drain running.

Watch for Infuse silences Fiddlesticks and stops him from starting or continuing his spell sequence.

          How to beat

Do not open with Drain while Infuse is ready unless Soraka is already feared. Trade with Dark Wind first, then Terrify after she uses Infuse or when you are in range to force a full channel. Crowstorm is usually overkill, but it prevents her from slowly resetting with Wish.

Later Soraka almost never looks for a real side-lane duel; she wins value by keeping teammates alive through your engage. In teamfights, silence her or land Crowstorm where she must spend Wish early instead of calmly answering your damage.

          • Consecration makes nearby allies tougher, but alone she still folds to your passive and sustained magic damage.
          • Infuse is the cooldown that decides whether Drain is safe.
          • Wish can erase a low-health execute attempt, so commit before she can kite out and reset.
          • Dark Wind silence can stop her heal chain if timed before Imbue-like sustain moments from allies are involved.

        • Taric

          TaricEven

Taric is durable and can stun Drain, but he has to walk into Fiddlesticks's fear range to make the duel happen.

Watch for Dazzle stuns Fiddlesticks and cancels Drain, especially dangerous when Taric is close enough for higher damage.

          How to beat

Kite at max spell range and make Taric spend Dazzle before you commit to a channel. If he walks straight at you, Terrify him during the approach and Drain while backing through Crowstorm or Dark Wind damage. Avoid fighting him inside his allied aura setup; the isolated duel is much better for you than a bot-lane skirmish.

Later Taric is harder to kill once tank items stack up, but he still cannot match Fiddlesticks's full teamfight damage. In grouped fights, do not let Dazzle stop your channel for free; flank from fog or wait until he uses it to peel someone else.

          • Dazzle deals more when Taric is close, so do not let him walk into melee before fearing.
          • Shatter's armor does little against your main damage, but the burst still matters in short trades.
          • Drain after Dazzle, not before it.
          • Taric's sustain makes half-commits bad; either poke safely or fully commit with fear.

        • Teemo

          TeemoFavoured

Teemo's blind does not stop Fiddlesticks's spell damage, and once feared he cannot kite the Drain channel reliably.

Watch for Noxious Trap controls the path into the fight, slowing Fiddlesticks and adding poison damage before the duel starts.

          How to beat

Do not chase through unwarded brush or obvious mushroom lines; make Teemo come into your Terrify range instead. His Blinding Dart is mostly wasted against you, so punish it with Dark Wind into fear and Drain. Crowstorm from fog is especially strong if he has no mushroom between you and his escape route.

Later Teemo is annoying in side lanes because traps make every approach costly, but he does not outduel a clean fear combo. In teamfights, sweep or ward flanks and avoid starting Crowstorm through mushroom fields that reveal and slow your entry.

          • Blinding Dart does not interrupt Drain or reduce Crowstorm damage.
          • Dark Wind breaks Move Quick by tagging him with champion damage.
          • If Teemo disappears with Camouflage, use minion waves and Dark Wind angles instead of face-checking.
          • A trap slow can move him out of Drain range, so fight on cleared ground.

        • Tristana

          TristanaUnfavoured

Tristana outranges Fiddlesticks, can interrupt or escape his channel with Rocket Jump and Buster Shot, and scales into safer DPS.

Watch for Buster Shot knocks Fiddlesticks away, breaking Drain spacing and pushing him out of Crowstorm kill range.

          How to beat

Stay out of her free auto range and look for Terrify only after she uses Rocket Jump aggressively or defensively. If she holds both jump and Buster Shot, do not raw Crowstorm onto her face; channel from fog so she has to react late. Drain only when she is feared or after Buster Shot is down.

Later Tristana wins the side lane if she sees Fiddlesticks coming, and her late range makes front-to-back fights hard for him. Fiddlesticks must win by flank timing, forcing Buster Shot early, or threatening her backline from terrain instead of walking straight in.

          • Rocket Jump's slow can pull her out of Drain range after she lands.
          • Buster Shot can ruin an otherwise perfect Crowstorm if you appear too close and too early.
          • Her range grows with levels, so windows that work early become worse later.
          • Terrify her after Rocket Jump starts or lands if possible, not while she is still holding it.

        • Tryndamere

          TryndamereEven

Fiddlesticks can fear and drain Tryndamere through melee pressure, but Undying Rage lets Tryndamere ignore lethal damage and force the final seconds.

Watch for Undying Rage prevents Tryndamere from dying during your burst and lets him keep attacking through Crowstorm.

          How to beat

Keep enough distance that Spinning Slash is his commit, then Terrify immediately after he uses it. Drain during the fear, but be ready to disengage when Undying Rage starts instead of wasting your whole damage window into immortality. After it ends, Dark Wind or a second control window finishes him if you survived the crits.

Later Tryndamere is much more threatening in the side lane because he can force long all-ins and take structures. Fiddlesticks should avoid isolated extended fights late and instead use Crowstorm to win grouped fights where Tryndamere has to spend Undying Rage defensively or gets peeled after it.

          • Terrify after Spinning Slash removes his easiest way to stay on you.
          • Do not count a low-health Tryndamere as dead while Undying Rage is available.
          • Mocking Shout's AD reduction is mostly irrelevant to your damage, but the slow matters if your back is turned.
          • Zhonya's can burn critical seconds of Undying Rage inside your Crowstorm.

        • Twisted Fate

          Twisted FateEven

Twisted Fate can poke and stun from range, but if Fiddlesticks dodges Gold Card or catches him after Pick A Card, TF is fragile enough to die quickly.

Watch for Pick A Card Gold Card stuns Fiddlesticks and interrupts Drain or prevents the Crowstorm follow-up.

          How to beat

Watch the card cycle and do not step into range when Gold Card is locked. Once he throws it or locks the wrong card, close for Terrify into Drain and make him fight without a reliable interrupt. Crowstorm is strongest from fog because Destiny can reveal you if he has time to react.

Later Twisted Fate wins map movement and side-lane tempo with Gate and Destiny, while Fiddlesticks wins grouped fights harder if he is not revealed. Shadow his split pressure with wards and punish the destination after Gate rather than chasing him across the map.

          • Gold Card is the real cooldown; Wild Cards poke alone does not stop your combo.
          • Dark Wind silence can stop a follow-up Pick A Card if you tag him before he locks control.
          • Destiny can expose a flank channel, so do not rely on obvious brush setups when it is ready.
          • If Gate is down, TF has no clean escape from fear range.

        • Twitch

          TwitchUnfavoured

Twitch's stealth opener and stacked Expunge can kill Fiddlesticks before he gets a clean fear-and-Drain pattern.

Watch for Ambush lets Twitch choose the starting range and open with several Deadly Venom stacks before Fiddlesticks can answer.

          How to beat

Do not stand alone in lanes or jungle entrances without vision when Twitch is missing. If he appears close, Terrify immediately before he reaches full stacks, then Drain only if Spray and Pray will not push him out of range through spacing. Crowstorm must be pre-positioned from fog or used as a counter-engage, not after he has already stacked poison safely.

Later Twitch is a stronger isolated killer when unseen, and Spray and Pray can delete teams if Fiddlesticks is late. Your job is to deny his opening with wards and either fear him on reveal or Crowstorm the backline as he commits.

          • If you wait until max Deadly Venom stacks, Expunge wins the trade even through Drain healing.
          • Dark Wind can reveal your answer timing, but it will not solve the stealth opener by itself.
          • Fear Twitch as soon as Ambush breaks unless he is still outside follow-up range.
          • Do not channel Crowstorm in a place he can already see and prefire with Spray and Pray.

        • Vayne

          VayneUnfavoured

Vayne can dodge, knock Fiddlesticks out of Drain, and shred him with Silver Bolts if the fight extends.

Watch for Condemn knocks Fiddlesticks away or stuns him into terrain, breaking Drain and stopping his close-range kill window.

          How to beat

Avoid walls when entering the duel; a wall Condemn turns the fight immediately. Try to bait Tumble or Condemn with a short advance, then Terrify and Drain while she has no displacement. Crowstorm only works if you arrive from fog close enough that she cannot kite out with Final Hour invisibility.

Later Vayne wins most side-lane duels once she has items and space to kite. Fiddlesticks remains the better teamfight champion if he flanks from darkness and forces her to use Condemn defensively instead of calmly free-hitting.

          • Stand away from walls even if it costs a shorter Drain angle.
          • Final Hour Tumble invisibility can break your tracking long enough for her to leave Crowstorm.
          • Terrify before Drain; raw Drain gives her an easy Condemn answer.
          • Armor helps against her autos, but Silver Bolts means positioning matters more than stacking defenses.

        • Veigar

          VeigarUnfavoured

Veigar's cage and AP-scaling ultimate punish Fiddlesticks for standing still or building damage, making the duel volatile and usually Veigar-favored if he lands control.

Watch for Event Horizon stuns Fiddlesticks on the edge, setting up Dark Matter and Primordial Burst while stopping Drain access.

          How to beat

Do not walk predictably into Event Horizon range; bait the cage sideways, then engage while it is down. If you get inside first, Terrify prevents Veigar from casting his burst and gives you the Drain channel. Crowstorm from fog can beat him, but only if you appear after cage is unavailable or land directly past the perimeter.

Later Veigar becomes more dangerous as both sides finish items because Primordial Burst scales brutally into AP targets. Fiddlesticks should avoid honest side-lane duels and instead force teamfights from unseen angles where Veigar must cage defensively before your carry line enters.

          • Never channel Drain while standing on Event Horizon's edge.
          • Primordial Burst is especially punishing when you have built heavy AP.
          • Dark Wind silence can deny his immediate burst if it lands before Event Horizon or after fear.
          • Banshee's Veil can block the spell that starts his kill chain.

        • Warwick

          WarwickUnfavoured

Warwick's sustain keeps him alive through poke and Infinite Duress cleanly suppresses Fiddlesticks out of Drain or Crowstorm.

Watch for Infinite Duress suppresses Fiddlesticks, cancels Drain, and gives Warwick guaranteed damage plus healing time.

          How to beat

Keep Warwick at the edge of Terrify range and do not start Drain while his ultimate is ready unless he is feared first. Force him to use Hungering Strike for sustain, then fear and Drain during the gap before he can reattach. If he hits six with Infinite Duress available, you need vision and spacing more than a fair melee-range duel.

Later Warwick is better in isolated pick scenarios because suppress into follow-up is reliable, while Fiddlesticks is better in full teamfights if he enters after Warwick commits. Let someone else absorb Infinite Duress or break his approach with fear before channeling Crowstorm.

          • Infinite Duress is the channel breaker that flips the duel.
          • Blood Scent makes low-health bait risky; he will chase you down if fear is unavailable.
          • Hungering Strike offsets small Dark Wind poke, so save mana for committed trades.
          • Quicksilver Sash can remove the suppression if you specifically need to survive his pick.

        • Wukong

          WukongUnfavoured

Wukong has multiple ways to reach Fiddlesticks, interrupt him, and waste fear timing with Decoy.

Watch for Cyclone knocks Fiddlesticks up, cancels Drain, and keeps Wukong dealing damage while Fiddlesticks cannot channel.

          How to beat

Do not instantly Terrify the first Wukong model if Decoy is available; wait for Nimbus Strike damage or movement that confirms the real one. Once Decoy is down, fear him after his dash and Drain while backing away from Cyclone range. If he holds Cyclone, Crowstorm must start from fog or after he has already used the knockup.

Later Wukong is more reliable in side-lane all-ins and can also disrupt teamfights with Cyclone. Fiddlesticks should avoid being the first target and look to Crowstorm after Wukong commits onto someone else, when his knockup cannot cancel your entry.

          • Decoy can waste Terrify if you panic-cast at the clone.
          • Nimbus Strike marks his commitment; punish that moment with fear.
          • Cyclone interrupts Drain even if your health bar looks safe.
          • Armor is useful, but the real answer is not giving him a free knockup on your channel.

        • Zilean

          ZileanEven

Zilean can outrange, slow, and revive himself, but he is fragile if Fiddlesticks reaches him after Time Warp or Chronoshift are forced.

Watch for Chronoshift denies the kill from Fiddlesticks's first full combo and lets Zilean reset after Crowstorm damage.

          How to beat

Respect his 600 range and avoid eating repeated Time Bombs before the actual all-in. Bait Time Warp, then Terrify him when he cannot simply speed away and Drain through the bomb timer if you have enough health. If Chronoshift is active, disengage or hold damage until the mark expires rather than spending Crowstorm into the revive.

Later Zilean does not want isolated duels, but his revive can erase your assassination target in teamfights. Force Chronoshift early with poke or a fake engage, then re-enter with Crowstorm after the revive window is gone.

          • Time Warp is both his escape and your engage window once it is down.
          • Do not finish your burst into an active Chronoshift mark unless you can kill him again afterward.
          • Dark Wind silence can stop Rewind chains if it lands before he cycles cooldowns.
          • His range is longer than yours, so use fog instead of walking straight through bombs.
