Attack speed marks improve early jungle clears by applying Hunter's Machete and on-hit jungle item damage more often; Q and R are magic damage, but magic penetration marks were less important than clearing reliably. Armor seals feed both jungle durability and Spiked Shell, MR glyphs cover early magic damage, and movement speed quints make Powerball ganks harder to dodge.
This is a 21/0/9 jungle tank page, corrected to exactly 30 points by running Tenacious at 2 ranks. Defense gives safer clears and initiation durability, while Utility reaches Runic Affinity because Season 3 junglers relied heavily on red buff uptime.
Skill order
ultimate at 6, 11 and 16Spiked Shell
- Powerball (Q) takes points at levels 2, 4, 5, 7, 9.
- Defensive Ball Curl (W) takes points at levels 1, 14, 15, 17, 18.
- Puncturing Taunt (E) takes points at levels 3, 8, 10, 12, 13.
- Tremors (R) takes points at levels 6, 11, 16.
Max Q first for gank damage and lower downtime, then E for longer taunts, with W taken level 1 for the first clear. R is taken at 6, 11, and 16 for repeat AoE damage in fights and turret dives.
Alternative — Max E before Q when your lanes have enough damage and you only need longer lockdown for ganks.

Machete sustain start — Default jungle start: Hunter's Machete plus five Health Potions gives the safest first clear and keeps you healthy enough to gank early.
Machete ward start — Take this when you expect an invade or need to protect a vulnerable first buff with an early ward.

Matchup against
62 champions, one-on-one
AhriUnfavoured
Ahri wins most clean duels because Rammus has to enter through Charm and then chase three Spirit Rush dashes through sustained magic and true damage.
Watch for Charm stops Powerball or the taunt follow-up and gives Ahri room to unload Orb of Deception.
How to beat
Approach from fog or after Charm is down, because a visible Powerball from max range is too easy for Ahri to punish. Hold Puncturing Taunt until after her first Spirit Rush dash if possible, then pin her while Defensive Ball Curl and Tremors are already running. Do not chase through the return path of Orb of Deception unless she is already committed.
Later Ahri still wins the side lane if she has space, but Rammus is far more valuable in grouped fights when he can force her cooldowns or taunt her after Spirit Rush. Buy magic resistance and look for flank angles instead of front-rolling into Charm.
- Do not Powerball in a straight line while Charm is available.
- Taunting after one Spirit Rush charge is better than taunting before she has used any.
- Step sideways after the first Orb hit so the true-damage return misses.
- Banshee's Veil can turn her pick pattern into a forced retreat.

AkaliEven
Rammus can punish Akali's melee commitment with Taunt and Ball Curl, but her shroud, spell vamp, and repeated Shadow Dance casts make the duel swing on timing.
Watch for Twilight Shroud breaks targeting and can waste Puncturing Taunt's window if Akali drops it before you click her.
How to beat
Do not taunt blindly into Twilight Shroud; sit in the edge of the smoke with Defensive Ball Curl active and wait for her to reveal herself with Mark of the Assassin or Crescent Slash. Commit after she spends a Shadow Dance charge to enter, because she has to stay close to finish the mark. Powerball is best used to interrupt her retreat out of shroud, not as the first spell.
Later Akali is more dangerous to carries, while Rammus is stronger at forcing her to waste time in teamfights. In side lane she can escape many all-ins, so clear, hover vision, and save taunt for when she dives onto someone else.
- Let her proc Mark into Defensive Ball Curl rather than chasing the mark trade early.
- Stand near the shroud edge so Powerball can hit when she exits.
- If she uses Shadow Dance aggressively with low charges, that is your real kill window.
- Magic resistance matters more than extra armor in this duel.

AlistarEven
Neither tank kills the other quickly, and the duel mostly depends on whether Alistar uses Unbreakable Will to erase Taunt and outlast Tremors.
Watch for Unbreakable Will removes Puncturing Taunt and heavily reduces your burst window.
How to beat
Do not spend Taunt as your first action if Alistar has ultimate; let him use Pulverize or Headbutt, then re-engage when he cannot chain you away. Keep Defensive Ball Curl for his bonus-damage ultimate window and use Tremors only when he has committed to staying near you. If he ults early, disengage with Powerball and restart when it ends.
Later Alistar is harder to kill but less threatening alone, while Rammus brings better backline access and turret pressure with Tremors. In teamfights, ignore him unless Taunt can stop his peel combo on your carry.
- Taunt before Unbreakable Will is often wasted.
- Powerball after Headbutt lets you re-enter before he can reset the fight.
- Tremors can pressure towers better than Alistar can answer in a side lane.
- Do not judge the matchup by damage numbers during his ultimate.

AmumuUnfavoured
Amumu's percent-health magic damage and long lockdown punish Rammus's low damage into tanks, while Defensive Ball Curl does little against Despair.
Watch for Despair drains Rammus by maximum health while Amumu stands inside the fight.
How to beat
Avoid extended hugging trades where Despair is ticking for free. Bait Bandage Toss with Powerball movement, then take a short Taunt plus Tremors trade and leave before Curse of the Sad Mummy turns it into a full-duration drain. If his ultimate is down, you can force him to walk with you instead of letting him plant on top of you.
Later Amumu is stronger in grouped wombo fights, but Rammus is better at starting picks from distance. In side lane the duel remains slow and Amumu-favored unless Rammus has enough magic resistance to survive the drain.
- Defensive Ball Curl does not solve Despair; it only helps against his attacks and Tantrum damage.
- Do not Powerball directly into Bandage Toss range without a dodge angle.
- If Curse of the Sad Mummy is down, Rammus can take shorter trades safely.
- Magic resistance beats stacking more armor here.

AniviaUnfavoured
Anivia controls the ground too well for Rammus, kiting Powerball with Flash Frost and Crystallize while Rebirth denies many all-ins.
Watch for Crystallize can stop Powerball's path or trap Rammus inside Glacial Storm.
How to beat
Approach from angles where a wall cannot simply cut you off, and do not commit unless Flash Frost has missed or been used on the wave. If you reach her, keep Taunt until she has no wall angle to separate you. Account for Rebirth before diving; killing the bird is not enough if you cannot stay on the egg.
Later Anivia dominates sieges and side-wave control, while Rammus is better as a flanker who reaches her from fog. Finished builds make the duel worse for Rammus unless he has spell-shield or heavy magic resistance.
- A front-facing Powerball is an easy Flash Frost target.
- Do not ult only to trigger Rebirth if you cannot kill the egg afterward.
- Crystallize behind you is often more dangerous than the wall in front of you.
- Banshee's Veil is excellent for forcing through one control spell.

AnnieUnfavoured
Annie's point-and-click stun burst and Tibbers damage hit Rammus's weaker defensive side, so he usually cannot win unless he catches her without Pyromania.
Watch for Pyromania turns Disintegrate or Summon: Tibbers into a stun that stops your engage and guarantees her burst.
How to beat
Watch her stun count and refuse the duel when Pyromania is ready. If she spends stun on a minion or teammate, Powerball immediately and Taunt before she can rebuild stacks. Keep Defensive Ball Curl for Tibbers autos and leave if she drops Tibbers before you have her locked.
Later Annie is more explosive in teamfights, but Rammus can punish her short range if he approaches from the side after her stun is spent. Side-lane duels remain risky because one ready stun usually decides the trade.
- Do not confuse low mobility with easy engage; Pyromania is the matchup.
- If Tibbers lands before Taunt, the duel usually turns bad.
- Banshee's Veil can eat the stun and create your only clean entry.
- Counting her spell casts matters more than counting her health.

AsheFavoured
Ashe relies on basic attacks and slows, which Rammus directly punishes with Defensive Ball Curl, Taunt, armor, and Powerball engage.
Watch for Enchanted Crystal Arrow can stop your engage or create enough distance for Frost Shot kiting.
How to beat
Do not roll at her from maximum vision range if Arrow is ready; come from fog or after she has used it. Once you connect, Taunt immediately and activate Defensive Ball Curl so her forced attacks damage herself. If she survives, use Powerball's slow and Tremors to stay close through Frost Shot.
Later Rammus remains a strong answer to Ashe in teamfights because he can force her to attack into reflected damage. In side lane she cannot duel him cleanly unless she starts with huge distance and Arrow available.
- Taunt makes Frost Shot irrelevant for the most important seconds.
- Defensive Ball Curl should be active before her highest attack-speed window.
- Boots of Swiftness help if she is only surviving through repeated slows.
- Do not chase in a straight line through Volley if Powerball is down.

BlitzcrankFavoured
Blitzcrank's damage is too attack-based and cooldown-gated to beat Rammus once Taunt and Defensive Ball Curl force him into a bad melee trade.
Watch for Rocket Grab can pull Rammus out of Powerball timing or under a turret before the duel starts.
How to beat
If he misses Rocket Grab, roll in immediately because his best way to control spacing is gone. Taunt after Power Fist is used or as he starts Overdrive, then let Defensive Ball Curl punish the forced attacks. Avoid fighting under his turret, where grab and knockup matter more than his duel damage.
Later Rammus wins the side duel, but Blitzcrank's real value is picks before fights. Grouped, stand where you can absorb or punish Rocket Grab, then use Powerball to counter-engage past him.
- Getting grabbed is fine in open ground, bad near his turret or team.
- Taunting during Overdrive makes his attack-speed steroid hurt him.
- Mana Barrier makes the last bit slower, so keep Tremors for the shielded finish.
- Do not waste Powerball into Power Fist if you can bait it first.

BrandUnfavoured
Brand's percent-health passive and ranged spell chain burn through Rammus's tank stats before Rammus can keep him pinned long enough.
Watch for Blaze adds maximum-health magic damage to every spell rotation, making long trades terrible for Rammus.
How to beat
Enter from fog and do not eat free Pillar of Flame before Powerball connects. If Brand misses Sear, commit instantly with Taunt and Tremors; if Sear is up, angle around minions or wait because the stun ruins your only kill window. Leave after your control ends unless he is already low enough to finish.
Later Brand is far stronger in grouped damage, especially if Rammus stacks with allies for Pyroclasm bounces. Rammus should flank and force Brand to panic-cast defensively rather than front-lining through burn damage.
- Never stand beside allies or minions when Pyroclasm is available.
- A missed Sear is the clearest all-in signal.
- Defensive Ball Curl does little against Blaze, so do not overstay because W is active.
- Magic resistance and a spell shield are much better than more armor.

Cho'GathUnfavoured
Cho'Gath outlasts Rammus with tankiness, silence, knockup control, and Feast true damage that bypasses Rammus's armor plan.
Watch for Feast removes a large chunk of health as true damage and finishes through Defensive Ball Curl.
How to beat
Do not take a full trade after Feral Scream, because silence prevents the Ball Curl or Taunt timing you need. Use Powerball movement to dodge Rupture, then take a short Taunt plus Tremors trade before Feast range becomes lethal. If he still has Feast and you are low, disengage early rather than testing the threshold.
Later Cho'Gath is favored in side lane and becomes hard for Rammus to kill at all. In teamfights, Rammus should ignore him unless Taunt is needed to stop him reaching carries, then look past him for higher-value targets.
- Rupture missed means you can trade; Feral Scream missed means you can actually commit.
- Do not trust armor against Feast.
- Tremors is better used to pressure around him than to slowly duel him from full health.
- Health and magic resistance matter more than pure armor here.

CorkiEven
Rammus punishes Corki's autos and Gatling Gun if he reaches him, but Corki's magic-heavy poke, true damage, and Valkyrie can deny the all-in.
Watch for Valkyrie breaks Taunt follow-up distance and leaves a damage trail that punishes chasing.
How to beat
Bait Valkyrie before committing Taunt; if he uses it defensively, keep Powerball or Flash-equivalent distance tools for the landing spot rather than stopping at the start. Avoid standing in Gatling Gun's cone before you engage, because the armor reduction makes your window worse. Once Valkyrie is down, Taunt and Ball Curl force him into the part of the fight Rammus wants.
Later Corki scales into stronger mixed teamfight damage, but Rammus can still remove him if Valkyrie is forced early. In side lane, Corki wins at range and Rammus wins only when he corners him or attacks from fog.
- Do not chase down the Valkyrie fire trail unless the kill is guaranteed.
- Gatling Gun before your engage lowers the value of Defensive Ball Curl.
- Taunt after Valkyrie is far stronger than taunt before it.
- Mixed resistance is better than only stacking armor.

Dr. MundoUnfavoured
Dr. Mundo wins long duels because Infected Cleaver and Burning Agony keep damaging Rammus while Sadism outheals Rammus's limited kill pressure.
Watch for Sadism restores too much health for Rammus to finish unless Grievous Wounds is applied.
How to beat
Dodge or sidestep Infected Cleaver before rolling in; getting slowed before contact gives Mundo the fight he wants. Use Taunt during Masochism so he is forced to attack into Defensive Ball Curl, but disengage when Sadism starts unless you have anti-heal support from items or allies. Short trades are acceptable; full-health slugfests are not.
Later Mundo is favored in side lane and becomes a better pure drain tank, while Rammus brings more reliable engage in teamfights. Finished builds make anti-heal the difference between forcing him out and watching him reset through your damage.
- Do not start the all-in while Sadism is available unless he is already low.
- Cleaver slow makes Powerball re-engage much harder.
- Taunt during Masochism gives you his best attack window reflected back.
- Executioner's Calling is specific but valuable if you are actually assigned to match him.

EvelynnEven
Evelynn can burst Rammus with magic damage and choose the opening, but if she commits into Taunt and Defensive Ball Curl she has trouble escaping the return trade.
Watch for Agony's Embrace front-loads damage and slow, letting Evelynn control whether the fight continues.
How to beat
Do not waste Powerball searching blindly; hold it for when she appears or to follow after Agony's Embrace. Once she uses Ravage in melee, Taunt immediately and activate Defensive Ball Curl so she cannot kite the forced trade. Vision and proximity matter more than raw mechanics because she decides many openings from Camouflage.
Later Evelynn is better at finding flank picks, while Rammus is better at peeling or counter-engaging when she appears. In side lane the duel is playable for Rammus if he survives the first burst with magic resistance.
- Let her reveal with Ravage before spending Taunt.
- Agony's Embrace slow can make a missed Powerball unrecoverable.
- Stay near carries in teamfights; she has to enter your Taunt range to kill them.
- Early magic resistance changes the duel more than armor does.

EzrealEven
Ezreal can kite Rammus with Mystic Shot and Arcane Shift, but he loses quickly if Rammus forces him into Taunt without his blink.
Watch for Arcane Shift denies the first engage and resets Ezreal to Mystic Shot range.
How to beat
Do not Taunt before Arcane Shift unless you are already certain he cannot blink out of range. Use Powerball to pressure the blink, then follow the landing with your actual lockdown if terrain or fog lets you close. Avoid eating repeated Mystic Shots on the way in, because his cooldown refunds make failed engages costly.
Later Ezreal is safer in teamfights than most marksmen, but Rammus can still force him to reposition and stop his damage. Side-lane duels are even: Ezreal wins open space, Rammus wins corners and fog approaches.
- Powerball can be used to force Arcane Shift instead of to land the hit immediately.
- Taunt after Arcane Shift is the whole matchup.
- Do not chase through minion waves where Mystic Shot keeps lowering his cooldowns.
- Armor helps, but a spell shield can also block the spell that buys him space.

FiddlesticksUnfavoured
Fiddlesticks beats Rammus in isolated fights if Drain channels freely, and his fear gives him the time needed to set that up.
Watch for Drain heals Fiddlesticks while damaging Rammus, undoing Rammus's short Taunt trade if it is not interrupted or escaped.
How to beat
Save Taunt to interrupt or punish Drain rather than spending it the moment you arrive. If Terrify is available, expect your engage to stall; Mercury's Treads or tenacity makes the follow-up much less punishing. Leave Crowstorm immediately unless Fiddlesticks is already locked and low, because standing in it turns your tank stats into a liability.
Later Fiddlesticks is much stronger in teamfight ambushes, while Rammus is better at single-target disruption once Fiddle shows. Your job is to deny Drain and Crowstorm positioning, not to win a long isolated drain duel.
- Taunt held for Drain is better than Taunt used on arrival.
- Do not duel inside Crowstorm to prove durability.
- Terrify can waste most of Defensive Ball Curl's active time.
- Magic resistance and tenacity are the key stats.

GangplankFavoured
Gangplank's physical attacks and Parrrley are exactly what Rammus wants to reflect, and Remove Scurvy only answers the taunt rather than the armor duel afterward.
Watch for Remove Scurvy cleanses Puncturing Taunt and heals, cutting short Rammus's best lock-down window.
How to beat
Try to bait Remove Scurvy with Powerball slow or a short Taunt, then continue the fight with Defensive Ball Curl while it is unavailable. Stay close enough that Parrrley does not become free poke, and use Tremors when he commits to trading rather than kiting. If he saves cleanse perfectly, the duel is slower but still armor-favored for Rammus.
Later Rammus remains favored in the side lane unless Gangplank is far ahead, while Gangplank contributes more global pressure with Cannon Barrage. In teamfights, force his cleanse early so your team can follow with other crowd control.
- Remove Scurvy does not remove Defensive Ball Curl damage once he keeps attacking.
- Parrrley into Ball Curl and Thornmail is a losing pattern for him.
- Do not stand in Cannon Barrage after your Taunt window ends.
- Armor plus attack-speed slows make his duel plan collapse.

GarenEven
Rammus can punish Garen's basic attacks and keep Perseverance down, but Garen's armor-heavy physical damage and execute make the duel hard to close cleanly.
Watch for Demacian Justice executes Rammus after Defensive Ball Curl falls or when he stays too long at low health.
How to beat
Stay close enough to tag him whenever Perseverance is about to restart, but do not open with Powerball into Decisive Strike for free. Taunt after Judgment has started or after Decisive Strike is spent, then use Defensive Ball Curl for the forced attacks. Back out before you drop into execute range unless Tremors will finish him first.
Later Neither side kills the other quickly in a finished side lane, but Garen has simpler sustain between trades while Rammus brings much more reliable engage in teamfights. Use the side lane to hold waves, then leave first with Powerball and force fights where taunt matters.
- Tap him with Tremors or Powerball impact to stop Perseverance resets.
- Decisive Strike removes Powerball's slow, so do not count on that slow to hold him.
- Defensive Ball Curl is strongest while Puncturing Taunt forces actual attacks, not while he is spinning with Judgment.
- Leave the trade before Demacian Justice becomes the only spell that matters.

GragasUnfavoured
Gragas deals mostly magic damage, sustains through Happy Hour, and can deny Rammus's commit with Body Slam and Explosive Cask.
Watch for Explosive Cask knocks Rammus out of Tremors and breaks the taunt follow-up window.
How to beat
Do not chase in a straight line through Barrel Roll zones; angle Powerball from fog or after Body Slam is used. If he still has Explosive Cask, save some distance after taunt so you can re-enter instead of being thrown completely out. Commit only when his displacement is down or when he has already used Body Slam aggressively.
Later Gragas usually controls side-lane spacing better and is more valuable if he can disengage your engage. Rammus should flank rather than front-charge, because forcing Gragas to ult defensively is often the real win.
- Body Slam can stop Powerball before you get the clean impact.
- Barrel Roll's attack-speed slow barely matters to you, but its zone control buys him space.
- Defensive Ball Curl is good against mixed damage, but it does not solve repeated Happy Hour sustain.
- If Explosive Cask is down, Tremors plus taunt can finally keep him in range.

HeimerdingerUnfavoured
Heimerdinger wins set-up duels because Rammus has to enter turret range and eat blind, stun, and constant magic poke before reaching him.
Watch for CH-1 Concussion Grenade stuns or blinds Rammus during the only window where he can force Heimerdinger to stand still.
How to beat
Do not duel him in a turret nest unless you have already cleared or dragged the wave away. Approach from a side angle with Powerball so he must guess the grenade, then taunt him out of turret coverage instead of fighting every turret at once. If grenade lands cleanly, disengage and reset rather than continuing through blind and rockets.
Later Heimerdinger is stronger in static side-lane setups, while Rammus is stronger at starting fights away from prepared turrets. In teamfights, ignore the nest when possible and Powerball around it to catch a carry or force Heimerdinger to abandon position.
- Tremors kills turrets while pressuring Heimerdinger, but standing still in turret fire is still losing.
- Save Defensive Ball Curl for turret focus after the taunt, not for the approach poke.
- A direct Powerball through turrets gives him an easy grenade target.
- If he has no grenade, he is much easier to pin long enough for Tremors ticks.

JannaFavoured
Janna cannot realistically kill Rammus alone, but she can repeatedly deny his engage and walk away if her displacement spells are ready.
Watch for Monsoon knocks Rammus out of melee range and erases the Tremors follow-up.
How to beat
The duel is about cooldowns, not damage: pressure her with Powerball but expect Howling Gale or Monsoon to stop the first entry. Re-engage after Monsoon or tornado is down and hold taunt until you are actually in melee. Do not burn everything into Eye Of The Storm unless you are forcing her away from an objective.
Later Janna never wants the side-lane duel, but she is excellent at ruining Rammus's teamfight entry. Flank from angles that force Monsoon early, then let your team follow once her reset is gone.
- Howling Gale can interrupt Powerball before impact if you path predictably.
- Eye Of The Storm makes short trades look worse than they are; wait out the shield when possible.
- Monsoon cancels your Tremors uptime if you ult too early.
- Her low damage means you can use the duel to force cooldowns, not necessarily a kill.

Jarvan IVEven
Rammus punishes Jarvan's basic attacks and armor-stacks well, but Jarvan's armor shred and terrain can control when the fight happens.
Watch for Dragon Strike lowers Rammus's Armor, cutting both his durability and Spiked Shell damage during the trade.
How to beat
Do not start the all-in after being tagged by Dragon Strike unless you can immediately taunt through his burst. Let him spend E-Q or Cataclysm, then Defensive Ball Curl and force him to hit you inside Tremors. If he saves the flag combo to leave, use Powerball after the dash rather than before it.
Later Side-lane fights remain playable but slow, with Jarvan better at starting skirmishes and Rammus better at punishing carries who hit him. In teamfights, avoid getting trapped away from priority targets by Cataclysm; either taunt Jarvan after he commits or roll past him before he walls you in.
- Dragon Strike matters more than its damage because it strips your armor scaling.
- Cataclysm keeps you near him, which can be good if Defensive Ball Curl and Tremors are already running.
- Do not waste Powerball into Golden Aegis slow if he still has E-Q to escape.
- Taunting Jarvan after Martial Cadence is used removes a lot of his front-loaded duel value.

JaxUnfavoured
Jax can dodge the basic attacks Rammus needs between taunt windows, scales into mixed damage, and eventually wins extended melee fights.
Watch for Counter Strike dodges Rammus's basic attacks and then stuns, wasting the taunt trade window.
How to beat
Bait Counter Strike before committing Puncturing Taunt; if he activates it, back up with Powerball movement instead of feeding him the stun. Once Counter Strike ends, taunt immediately and turn on Defensive Ball Curl so his forced attacks hurt him. Keep the trade short, because Grandmaster's Might attack speed makes long fights favor Jax.
Later Jax wins most finished side-lane duels if he can stay on Rammus through multiple rotations. Rammus should stop matching him alone and instead force teamfights where taunt can lock Jax before he reaches a carry.
- Do not taunt into active Counter Strike; he dodges the attacks you are trying to punish.
- Defensive Ball Curl is still useful after the stun because Jax must keep attacking to finish you.
- Powerball can create distance during Counter Strike's windup if you start moving early.
- Frozen Heart and Thornmail are both real anti-Jax items, not just generic armor here.

KarthusUnfavoured
Karthus's sustained magic damage ignores Rammus's armor advantage, and even a won all-in can become dangerous through Death Defied.
Watch for Defile keeps damaging Rammus while he is forced to stay in melee for taunt and Tremors.
How to beat
Approach with Powerball from outside vision so he cannot soften you with repeated Lay Waste. Once you connect, taunt him out of clean Lay Waste spacing and keep moving inside him so isolated Qs are harder to land. If he dies, leave Death Defied range immediately unless you are certain the remaining damage cannot finish you.
Later Karthus is stronger in grouped fights if he gets to stand in the middle and cast after death, while Rammus is better at forcing one target to misposition. In side lane, avoid slow chases through Wall of Pain and use your engage to start fights away from his preferred zone.
- Wall of Pain turns a failed Powerball into a long walk through Lay Waste.
- Defensive Ball Curl's magic resist helps, but it does not make Defile a good place to linger.
- Killing him is not the end of the duel because Death Defied still casts.
- Interrupting Requiem is not reliable for Rammus, so plan health around it before you leave.

KassadinUnfavoured
Kassadin is hard for Rammus to finish because Riftwalk controls spacing and his damage is mostly magic burst rather than punishable basic attacks.
Watch for Riftwalk lets Kassadin leave taunt range after the first trade and re-enter only when Rammus's cooldowns are down.
How to beat
Do not chase every Riftwalk; force him to spend mana and wait for a stacked or repeated jump before committing. Powerball from fog or after he has used Riftwalk forward, then taunt immediately so he cannot silence and blink out for free. If Null Sphere stops your follow-up, disengage until your next Powerball rather than walking after him.
Later Kassadin wins the side-lane map if he can avoid taunt and keep jumping over walls, but Rammus is still stronger at punishing his entry in teamfights. Hold taunt for Kassadin's Riftwalk into your backline instead of spending it on the first frontliner.
- Null Sphere silence can delay Defensive Ball Curl or Tremors if you wait too long to cast them.
- Riftwalk after your taunt ends usually means the duel is over unless Powerball is still available.
- His passive reduces only magic damage, so your armor-based attacks still matter when you actually hold him.
- Magic resist is more valuable than extra armor in this matchup.

KatarinaEven
Rammus can stop Death Lotus with taunt and survive her burst, but Katarina's resets and Shunpo make bad timing very punishable.
Watch for Death Lotus deals heavy channelled damage unless Puncturing Taunt is saved to interrupt it.
How to beat
Do not spend taunt just because she Shunpos in; save it for Death Lotus unless you can kill her before she channels. Start Defensive Ball Curl before the burst lands, then taunt the ult and Tremors while she has no Shunpo target to escape to. Avoid fighting near low-health allies or minions that let Voracity reset the fight.
Later Katarina is more dangerous in messy teamfights than in a clean duel because resets undo Rammus's cooldown advantage. Your job is to sit on taunt until she commits, then cancel Death Lotus and keep her inside Tremors long enough for your team to finish her.
- A panic taunt before Death Lotus often gives her the channel afterward.
- Shunpo's damage reduction makes your first burst less effective; wait a beat if you can.
- Powerball can force her Shunpo defensively before you spend taunt.
- Do not duel around nearly dead teammates, because Voracity changes the whole fight.

KayleUnfavoured
Kayle kites Rammus with ranged Righteous Fury, slows him with Reckoning, and can immune the taunt burst with Intervention.
Watch for Intervention negates the damage window from Puncturing Taunt and Tremors.
How to beat
Hold Powerball until Righteous Fury or Reckoning has been used to create distance; charging straight at full cooldowns lets her kite for free. Try to force Intervention with the first taunt, then disengage and re-enter when it ends rather than wasting Tremors into invulnerability. If she keeps Righteous Fury running, fight around terrain or fog so she cannot freely extend the lane.
Later Kayle usually wins the finished side-lane duel because she can kite and immune the all-in, while Rammus offers more immediate lockdown in teamfights. Force her Intervention on herself or a carry, then switch targets once the invulnerability expires.
- Reckoning's slow is the cooldown that decides whether Powerball actually reaches her.
- Righteous Fury makes her a ranged champion for the part of the fight that matters.
- Do not Tremors into Intervention unless you are using it only to zone.
- Thornmail is less decisive than it looks because much of her threat is mixed and ability-driven.

KennenUnfavoured
Kennen has the range, speed, and repeated stuns to kite Rammus while dealing mostly magic damage.
Watch for Lightning Rush lets Kennen avoid Powerball contact or reposition after taunt ends.
How to beat
Do not roll at him from max range in open lane; he will Lightning Rush away and stack marks as you chase. Come from fog, force Lightning Rush first, then Powerball after it ends and taunt before he can stack the third Mark of the Storm. If Slicing Maelstrom is active and you are already marked, decide quickly whether to finish or leave before the stun chain starts.
Later Kennen is better in grouped fights if he finds a multi-man Slicing Maelstrom, while Rammus is better at single-target pick starts. In side lane he can avoid most duels, so use your movement to leave lane and punish his team before he teleports or groups.
- Counting Mark of the Storm matters; the third mark can ruin your taunt window.
- Lightning Rush is both his escape and his way to pass through you after Powerball misses.
- Defensive Ball Curl helps against his magic burst, but being chain-stunned still loses trades.
- Mercury's Treads are specifically valuable for his stun and slows.

Kog'MawEven
Rammus destroys Kog'Maw if he reaches him, but Bio-Arcane Barrage and Void Ooze can shred and kite him before contact.
Watch for Bio-Arcane Barrage gives Kog'Maw range and percent-health magic damage that cuts through Rammus's armor stacking.
How to beat
Do not start with a visible, long Powerball through Void Ooze; flank or wait until the ooze is down. Once you connect, taunt immediately and turn on Defensive Ball Curl so his forced attacks reflect damage while Tremors ticks. After killing him, leave Icathian Surprise's detonation radius instead of standing on the corpse.
Later Kog'Maw is much stronger in protected teamfights, but he is still one of Rammus's best high-value taunt targets. Side-lane duels depend on whether Rammus gets the first clean contact; in 5v5s, flank around peel rather than rolling through the front line.
- Void Ooze is the real anti-engage spell; wait it out or enter from the side.
- Bio-Arcane Barrage damage is magic percent health, so armor alone is not enough.
- Thornmail still punishes his forced attacks during taunt, even though it does not answer all his damage.
- Always move away after the kill because Icathian Surprise can trade back.

Lee SinEven
Lee Sin can outplay Rammus with mobility and execute damage, but if he commits to attacking through taunt and Defensive Ball Curl he takes a bad trade.
Watch for Dragon's Rage kicks Rammus out of Tremors and can end the duel before his defensive window gets full value.
How to beat
Do not let Sonic Wave mark you for free before the fight starts; use minions or angles to block it. If Lee takes Resonating Strike in, taunt immediately and Defensive Ball Curl before his passive autos come through. Save Powerball for after Safeguard or Dragon's Rage if you need to reconnect.
Later Lee Sin falls off harder in direct front-to-back fights, while Rammus becomes more reliable as a lockdown tank. In side lane Lee can avoid or disengage, but in teamfights you should punish his kick entry or peel him off your carry with taunt.
- Resonating Strike brings him into the exact range where taunt is strongest.
- Dragon's Rage can waste Tremors if you ult before he kicks.
- Safeguard gives him an exit target, so watch nearby wards and allies before committing.
- Armor is good, but the duel is mostly about whether he can avoid attacking into W.

LeonaFavoured
Leona has enough crowd control to delay Rammus, but she lacks the solo damage to beat him without allies triggering Sunlight.
Watch for Eclipse gives Leona a defensive spike that makes Rammus's taunt trade low value if he commits into it.
How to beat
Let Eclipse come up, then either wait out the explosion or taunt after its resist window is nearly over. Use Defensive Ball Curl when she is forced to basic attack after Shield of Daybreak, not while you are simply stunned. The duel is slow, so use Tremors to push her off space rather than expecting a fast kill.
Later Leona is not a side-lane duelist; her value is locking someone down for teammates. Rammus should match her engage timing in teamfights, either taunting her carry after she goes in or peeling the target she tries to chain-stun.
- Sunlight does nothing by itself in a 1v1, which removes much of her threat.
- Shield of Daybreak forces one attack, but her follow-up damage is low.
- Do not spend your full burst into fresh Eclipse resists.
- If Solar Flare is down, she has little way to stop your re-engage.

LuluUnfavoured
Lulu's slows, polymorph, shield, and Wild Growth make it very difficult for Rammus to keep contact long enough to win.
Watch for Whimsy polymorphs Rammus during his engage window, stopping the taunt-and-Tremors follow-up.
How to beat
Bait Whimsy before committing; if she still has it, your Powerball connect often turns into no damage. Approach from fog, force Glitterlance or Whimsy, then re-engage and taunt before Help, Pix! plus Wild Growth can fully reset the trade. Do not chase through repeated Glitterlance slows unless you have already made her spend her peel.
Later Lulu is stronger at denying Rammus in teamfights than at killing him herself, and she makes his ideal carry taunt much harder. In side lane she usually escapes rather than wins quickly, so look to force her cooldowns and then start a fight elsewhere.
- Whimsy is the cooldown to track; it removes your ability to finish the engage.
- Wild Growth can knock you up during taunt range and buy enough time for her to leave.
- Glitterlance from Pix creates awkward side angles, so do not chase in a straight line.
- Mercury's Treads help because her slows and polymorph are the duel.

LuxUnfavoured
Lux can bind and slow Rammus before he reaches her, then burst from outside his effective melee range.
Watch for Light Binding stops Powerball or the post-taunt chase, denying Rammus's only reliable way to stay on her.
How to beat
Do not roll directly through the wave line where Light Binding is easiest to land. Approach from fog or after she uses binding, then taunt immediately and hold Defensive Ball Curl for her passive autos and retaliation. If Lucent Singularity is already slowing the path, go around it instead of forcing a straight chase.
Later Lux remains vulnerable if Rammus flanks her, but in front-to-back fights she can stop his engage before he reaches priority targets. Side-lane duels favor whoever lands the first key spell; teamfights require Rammus to attack from angles that make Light Binding miss or hit someone else.
- Light Binding can hit through one target, so hiding behind a single minion is not enough.
- Lucent Singularity's slow turns a missed Powerball into a failed fight.
- Her shield can absorb the first Tremors ticks; stay on her only if binding is down.
- Banshee's Veil is specifically strong because blocking binding can create the whole engage.

MalphiteEven
Rammus and Malphite mostly bounce armor-scaling damage off each other, with Malphite's attack speed slow making extended trades awkward but not decisive.
Watch for Ground Slam reduces your Attack Speed, cutting the value of Puncturing Taunt's forced attacks and your armor-converted AD during the trade.
How to beat
Do not open into Granite Shield; tap him or wait it out before committing. Hold Powerball until after Seismic Shard so he cannot steal speed and walk away, then taunt him during Defensive Ball Curl and keep Tremors running while he is stuck near you.
Later Neither side kills the other quickly in a side lane, but Malphite's Unstoppable Force is usually the bigger teamfight opener. Rammus should answer by peeling the carry Malphite dives or using Powerball from a flank after his ultimate is spent.
- Break Granite Shield before using your full taunt trade.
- Defensive Ball Curl does not stop Ground Slam from reducing your follow-up damage.
- If he uses Unstoppable Force just to escape the duel, you won the map trade.
- Tremors can keep damaging him through his armor stack because the fight lasts long enough.

MalzaharUnfavoured
Malzahar wins if he keeps distance because his damage is mostly magic, percent-zone based, and backed by a suppress that stops Rammus from choosing the trade.
Watch for Nether Grasp suppresses you inside Null Zone, denying Defensive Ball Curl movement and letting his full damage-over-time chain land.
How to beat
Approach from fog or brush, not straight through minions where Malefic Visions and Voidlings soften you first. Bait Call of the Void or wait for Nether Grasp to be unavailable, then Powerball directly into taunt and leave Null Zone as soon as the taunt ends.
Later Malzahar remains dangerous in side lanes because one suppress can set up a kill before you reach him. In teamfights, Rammus should not be the first target into Nether Grasp unless Quicksilver Sash is ready; flank and force him to ult you instead of your carry.
- Do not duel while standing in Null Zone; the percent damage ignores your armor plan.
- Voidlings can block movement paths after Powerball impact, so angle from the side.
- If he uses Nether Grasp into Defensive Ball Curl, you can survive much more of the channel.
- A clean taunt after his spell rotation is your only real kill window.

Master YiFavoured
Rammus is built to punish Master Yi's basic attacks, and Defensive Ball Curl plus Puncturing Taunt makes Yi damage himself while losing control of the duel.
Watch for Highlander makes Yi immune to Powerball's slow, so he can choose whether to keep hitting or disengage after Alpha Strike.
How to beat
Let Yi use Alpha Strike before taunting so he cannot dodge the forced attack window. Turn on Defensive Ball Curl as the taunt starts, keep Tremors under him, and save Powerball for re-contact if Highlander carries him out of melee.
Later Rammus still beats Yi in a direct side-lane duel unless Yi is massively ahead or has enough sustain to reset between trades. In teamfights, your job is to hold taunt for Highlander and make Yi hit armor instead of carries.
- Do not waste Powerball slow during Highlander; use it for collision and positioning.
- Taunt after Alpha Strike, not before it disappears.
- Meditate can stall your burst, so keep Tremors ticking and do not walk away too early.
- Thornmail is a matchup item here, not just a luxury armor buy.

Miss FortuneFavoured
Miss Fortune has no reliable answer to Rammus reaching her, and her repeated basic attacks feed Defensive Ball Curl and Thornmail-style punishment.
Watch for Make It Rain slows your approach, buying enough space for her to kite before Powerball connects.
How to beat
Do not roll through Make It Rain from maximum range unless she has no room left behind her. Approach from a side angle, collide with Powerball, then immediately taunt before she can reposition for Bullet Time.
Later Rammus wins the side-lane duel if he can reach her, while Miss Fortune is far more valuable grouped behind peel. In teamfights, flank rather than front-to-back through her team, and interrupt or force-cancel Bullet Time with your engage.
- Powerball impact interrupts her channel if you reach Bullet Time quickly enough.
- Her Strut falls off from any damage, so a small Tremors or Sunfire tick helps keep her catchable.
- Do not stand in the cone after taunt ends; step through or beside her.
- If Make It Rain is down, she has no real peel by herself.

MorganaUnfavoured
Morgana can block Rammus's engage control with Black Shield and punish his short range with binding, soil, and Soul Shackles.
Watch for Black Shield blocks Powerball's slow and Puncturing Taunt while it holds, removing your only clean way to force the duel.
How to beat
Threaten Powerball but do not spend taunt into Black Shield unless the shield is already broken. Bait Dark Binding from an angle, roll in after it misses, and leave Tormented Soil instead of trading while she gets spell-vamp value.
Later Morgana does not want a pure side-lane brawl forever, but she can stall Rammus and waste his engage. In teamfights, Rammus should force Black Shield early, then either swap targets or re-engage after it expires.
- Never taunt the shield unless your team can immediately break it.
- Powerball from a curved angle makes Dark Binding harder for her to line up.
- If Soul Shackles lands, keep moving out before the second hit stuns.
- Tormented Soil is a bad place to sit even during Defensive Ball Curl.

NasusUnfavoured
Nasus outscales the duel because Wither ruins Rammus's chase and attack pattern while Siphoning Strike and Fury of the Sands overpower long trades.
Watch for Wither slows your movement and attack speed over time, turning Powerball follow-up and taunt trades into a fight Nasus can extend on his terms.
How to beat
Fight him before he has stacked Siphoning Strike heavily, and never start while standing in Spirit Fire. Use Powerball to force his Wither, back off until its worst slow fades, then re-enter with taunt while Defensive Ball Curl is active.
Later Nasus eventually wins most side-lane duels if his Q is stacked and Fury of the Sands is ready. Rammus should stop trying to solo him late and instead use mobility to force fights elsewhere or peel Nasus off carries after Wither is committed.
- Spirit Fire reduces your armor, which also cuts Spiked Shell damage.
- Do not chase through Wither; reset the spacing first.
- Taunting Nasus during Fury of the Sands can keep him near you, but it does not make the stat check favorable.
- Early armor helps, but it does not solve late Siphoning Strike damage.

NidaleeUnfavoured
Nidalee wins by refusing the brawl, landing long-range Javelin Toss, healing through short trades, and using cougar movement to leave Rammus's range.
Watch for Javelin Toss at long range chunks your health before you ever get a clean Powerball angle.
How to beat
Use brush and fog to shorten the lane; a visible straight Powerball gives her too much time to sidestep. Do not commit after eating a max-range spear, and save taunt for cougar form after she has used Pounce aggressively.
Later Nidalee usually controls side lanes through poke, traps, and disengage rather than standing still to duel. In teamfights, Rammus should absorb spears when needed but look for flank angles that deny her long-range setup.
- Bushwhack reduces both Armor and Magic Resist, so do not fight after stepping on a trap.
- Powerball from brush denies her the easiest spear timing.
- If she uses Primal Surge before the all-in, wait out the attack speed window when possible.
- A cougar Pounce forward is your best taunt timing.

Nunu & WillumpEven
Nunu is hard for Rammus to kill because Ice Blast and Consume sustain drag the fight out, but he lacks enough single-target damage to reliably finish Rammus alone.
Watch for Ice Blast slows your movement and attack speed, making it difficult to stay on him after the first Powerball hit.
How to beat
Fight away from minion waves or jungle monsters so Consume cannot reset his health in the middle of the duel. Bait Ice Blast, then Powerball after the slow is used and save taunt to interrupt or punish Absolute Zero positioning.
Later Nunu rarely wants a true side-lane duel; he wants to buff an ally and control objectives. In teamfights, Rammus should ignore him unless Absolute Zero needs interrupting and instead reach the carry Blood Boil is empowering.
- Do not chase him through repeated Ice Blast slows without Boots of Swiftness or help.
- Consume makes jungle duels much worse for you than lane duels.
- Powerball or taunt can stop him from getting full Absolute Zero value.
- If Blood Boil is on an ally, that ally is usually the real target.

OlafUnfavoured
Olaf beats Rammus in an honest duel because Ragnarok ignores taunt control and Reckless Swing deals true damage through Defensive Ball Curl.
Watch for Ragnarok makes Olaf immune to Puncturing Taunt, removing the window where Rammus normally forces attackers to kill themselves.
How to beat
Do not commit your taunt while Ragnarok is active; kite backward with Powerball movement and let his ultimate timer run. Once it ends, use Defensive Ball Curl plus taunt, but respect low-health Berserker Rage and Vicious Strikes sustain.
Later Olaf remains a strong side-lane answer because true damage and disable immunity bypass Rammus's best stats. In teamfights, Rammus should not tunnel him during Ragnarok; peel his path or dive the backline after Olaf has spent cooldowns forward.
- Reckless Swing is the part your armor does not answer.
- If he catches axes repeatedly, you will not escape by walking.
- Taunt immediately after Ragnarok ends; that is the real duel window.
- Thornmail helps against his autos but does nothing to true damage.

PantheonEven
Rammus can outlast Pantheon's physical burst if he survives the first rotation, but Pantheon's stun and passive block can blunt the engage.
Watch for Aegis Protection blocks a basic attack, wasting part of the forced taunt trade and reducing your immediate punish.
How to beat
Strip Aegis Protection before the all-in if you can, then let him spend Spear Shot or Heartseeker Strike before you commit. Use Defensive Ball Curl as Aegis of Zeonia lands or immediately after, then taunt him into hitting you once his burst window is down.
Later Pantheon falls off in extended side-lane duels against armor, but he can still pick fights with Grand Skyfall before Rammus arrives. In teamfights, Rammus should punish Pantheon after he lands rather than chase him before the channel.
- Do not rely on one taunt auto if his passive shield is ready.
- Heartseeker Strike roots him in a direction, giving you a Powerball angle from the side.
- His damage is front-loaded; if you exit the first combo healthy, the fight turns.
- Armor is valuable here because almost all of the duel is physical.

RyzeUnfavoured
Ryze's repeated magic damage, root, spell-vamp ultimate, and cooldown cycling let him kite and burn Rammus down before armor matters enough.
Watch for Rune Prison roots you in place, stopping Powerball follow-up and letting Ryze chain Overload and Spell Flux from range.
How to beat
Approach from fog and avoid starting the duel after Spell Flux has reduced your Magic Resist. If Rune Prison is down, Powerball straight in and taunt before Desperate Power lets him kite and heal through the exchange.
Later Ryze wins the side lane once he has enough mana, cooldown reduction, and resist shred to keep casting. In teamfights, Rammus should force Ryze to use Rune Prison defensively, then either disengage or let allies finish him during taunt.
- Spell Flux MR reduction makes the next spells hurt much more; back off if it lands early.
- Do not chase Desperate Power movement speed in a straight line.
- Quicksilver Sash changes the fight because it breaks Rune Prison and can remove his setup.
- Your armor-heavy build does not answer his main damage profile.

ShacoEven
Rammus crushes Shaco if he catches the real one in taunt, but Shaco can waste Powerball with Deceive, boxes, and Hallucinate confusion.
Watch for Jack In The Box fears you during the approach, breaking your engage line and giving Shaco time to hit from behind or leave.
How to beat
Do not Powerball blindly through areas Shaco has had time to set up. Wait for Deceive or force it with movement, then taunt the real Shaco while Defensive Ball Curl is active and avoid spending cooldowns into the clone unless you know it is him.
Later In side lanes Shaco usually looks for picks and escapes, not a fair duel; Rammus wins the locked-down version but may never get it. In teamfights, hold taunt for Shaco after he appears on a carry and use Tremors to reveal and punish close clone plays.
- If he Deceives behind you, turn before taunting so Backstab does not stay free.
- Boxes punish predictable Powerball paths around objectives.
- Hallucinate can waste your taunt if you panic-target the clone.
- Defensive Ball Curl makes his auto-based burst much worse for him.

ShenEven
Shen and Rammus both have taunts and defenses, so the duel is slow and usually decided by cooldown timing rather than burst.
Watch for Feint absorbs your taunt trade damage, letting Shen wait out Defensive Ball Curl without losing much health.
How to beat
Do not unload into Feint; force it with Powerball contact or a short trade, then taunt after the shield fades. Keep fights away from minions when possible so Vorpal Blade healing is less efficient, and interrupt Stand United pressure with taunt if he tries to leave nearby.
Later Shen is usually more valuable in side lane because Stand United lets him pressure and still join fights. Rammus should use faster map movement to force engages when Shen's ultimate is down or punish the enemy backline while Shen answers elsewhere.
- Both taunts can cancel the other's plan; whoever wastes theirs first loses pressure.
- Vorpal Blade trades get better for him if you let him repeatedly reset on minions.
- Powerball can stop a nearby Stand United channel if you reach him in time.
- This is often a map matchup more than a kill matchup.

SingedUnfavoured
Singed wins by refusing to stand and attack, dragging Rammus through Poison Trail while Fling and Mega Adhesive deny clean Powerball angles.
Watch for Fling throws you behind Singed, forcing you to chase through Poison Trail and breaking your preferred taunt-and-curl trade.
How to beat
Do not chase directly behind him; cut across his escape path and use Powerball from the side. Wait for Fling or Mega Adhesive to be down before committing, then taunt him away from his poison trail so the forced movement benefits you.
Later Singed is the better side-lane nuisance because he clears, runs, and wastes time without offering a clean duel. In teamfights, Rammus should avoid chasing him through poison and instead engage past him or peel after Singed uses Fling.
- Following his exact path is how you lose the duel.
- Mega Adhesive can make Powerball feel useless if you roll through it early.
- Taunting him sideways or backward is much better than taunting him while he is already running away.
- Magic resistance matters more than armor in this fight.

SionEven
Rammus can punish Sion's basic attacks, but Sion's stun, shield, and Cannibalism lifesteal make the all-in difficult if timed poorly.
Watch for Cannibalism gives Sion heavy lifesteal on attacks, letting him heal through your return damage if you cannot stop or outlast the window.
How to beat
Do not full-commit into Death's Caress shield; wait it out or force him to detonate it early. Use Defensive Ball Curl during Cannibalism and taunt him when he has to keep attacking, but back off if your taunt ends and his ultimate still has time remaining.
Later AD Sion can become a serious side-lane drain-tank if he gets to auto freely, while Rammus is stronger when Sion is forced to hit armor in a teamfight. Your late job is to deny his access to carries during Cannibalism rather than spend everything on his shield.
- Cryptic Gaze can stop Powerball before you get the collision.
- Death's Caress is a bad target for your first burst of damage.
- Executioner's Calling is relevant only if you are actually dueling his lifesteal build.
- Taunt during Cannibalism turns his required autos into return-damage liability.

SivirFavoured
Sivir has Spell Shield to block one engage piece, but once Rammus forces it out she is an auto-attacking marksman trapped in taunt range.
Watch for Spell Shield blocks Powerball or Puncturing Taunt, denying the first engage and refunding her enough space to kite.
How to beat
Trigger Spell Shield with Powerball contact or a short fake before spending taunt. Once the shield is down, taunt immediately with Defensive Ball Curl active and stay slightly ahead of her path so On The Hunt movement speed does not open distance.
Later Rammus wins the isolated duel if he reaches her, but Sivir is far more dangerous grouped where On The Hunt and ricochet damage empower her team. In teamfights, flank around the front line and make her choose between shielding Powerball impact or the taunt that follows.
- Do not cast taunt into Spell Shield unless breaking it is the only goal.
- Boomerang Blade hurts most if you eat both passes while chasing in a straight line.
- On The Hunt can outrun a bad engage, so approach from fog rather than lane center.
- Ricochet keeps damaging nearby allies, so pin her away from your carry line.

SkarnerEven
Rammus has the armor and reflected damage to survive Skarner's autos, but Skarner's shield, repeated Crystal Slash casts, and suppression make the duel a long control fight rather than a clean win.
Watch for Crystalline Exoskeleton lets Skarner keep the fight moving while its shield holds, denying your clean Powerball engage or disengage.
How to beat
Do not open into his shield unless you are forcing him away from an objective; roll near him, make him spend Crystalline Exoskeleton, then re-engage as it breaks. Once he commits to autos for Energize, turn on Defensive Ball Curl and taunt him inside Tremors so he pays for every hit.
Later Finished builds favor whichever side has help nearby: Skarner is better at dragging one target into his team, while Rammus is better at punishing carries after the engage. In side lane you can hold him, but in teamfights save Powerball or Taunt for whoever follows Impale rather than tunneling Skarner himself.
- If Skarner's shield is still up, your Powerball slow often is not enough to keep him pinned.
- Defensive Ball Curl is strongest after he has started autoing to refresh cooldowns.
- Impale can waste your engage timing, so avoid rolling past his team unless his ultimate is down.

SonaFavoured
Sona can kite and poke, but she is too fragile to survive Powerball into Taunt if Rammus reaches her without being stopped by Crescendo.
Watch for Crescendo stops your Powerball or Taunt chain and buys her the distance she needs to reset the fight.
How to beat
Approach from fog or an angle where she cannot simply walk backward with Song of Celerity. Bait Crescendo with Powerball pressure, then recommit when it is down and hold Taunt until after she spends the stun.
Later Sona almost never wants the side-lane duel; she wins by grouping and amplifying a carry. Late game, Rammus should ignore fair front-to-back trades and use flank angles to force Crescendo defensively before reaching her marksman.
- Track Power Chord: the damage-reduction hit can blunt your all-in if it lands right after Taunt.
- Do not chase through her team just because she is low; Sona's value is usually behind a carry line.
- If Crescendo misses Powerball, she normally dies before her next aura cycle matters.

SorakaFavoured
Soraka can silence and heal through poke, but she lacks the mobility and burst to stop Rammus once he gets on top of her.
Watch for Infuse silences you at the start of the engage, delaying Taunt or Defensive Ball Curl long enough for her to walk out.
How to beat
Do not rely on instant Taunt if Infuse is ready; roll into her, absorb the silence, then Taunt as soon as it ends. Keep the fight short by using Tremors during the forced attack window so Wish does not turn it into repeated sustain trades.
Later Soraka does not want to duel Rammus, but she changes teamfights by keeping the target you dive alive. Later, look to force her silence on yourself or another frontliner before your real carry-dive commit.
- Infuse is the only spell that meaningfully changes your combo timing.
- If she casts Astral Blessing on herself before Taunt, wait a beat for the armor window to decay if you are not under pressure.
- Wish can bait you into overchasing, so judge the all-in by cooldowns, not her current health bar.

TaricEven
Taric is durable enough to blunt Rammus's physical damage and can stun-heal through short trades, but he does not have the sustained damage to easily kill Rammus either.
Watch for Dazzle interrupts your engage timing and lets Taric choose whether the trade continues or resets.
How to beat
Do not spend Powerball from max visible range where Dazzle is easy; close from a brush or force him to stun defensively first. Once Dazzle is down, keep Defensive Ball Curl active through his Gemcraft autos and use Tremors to punish him for staying in melee.
Later Neither champion should be side-lane hunting the other late; Taric is stronger as an aura and stun bot for a carry, while Rammus is stronger at reaching that carry. In teamfights, do not waste Taunt into Taric unless stunning him opens a guaranteed path past him.
- Shatter's armor aura makes short physical trades worse than they look.
- Taric's heal rewards drawn-out fights, so commit during one Taunt window or leave.
- If he walks into melee after Dazzle, Defensive Ball Curl turns his Gemcraft pattern against him.

TeemoUnfavoured
Teemo's blind shuts off Rammus's taunted attacks and his poison plus mushrooms let him kite a slow melee tank through magic damage.
Watch for Blinding Dart denies your basic attacks during the Taunt window, removing a large part of your duel damage.
How to beat
Do not start with Taunt while Blinding Dart is ready unless you only need to hold him for help. Force the blind with Powerball contact, activate Defensive Ball Curl for the poison autos, then Taunt after blind expires and stay tight enough that Move Quick cannot reset.
Later Teemo wins the isolated map if he has mushroom control and room to kite, but Rammus is far more reliable in full teamfights. Buy detection through team resources, sweep paths before rolling, and use Powerball to force Teemo out of shroomed ground instead of chasing blindly.
- A blinded Taunt is still crowd control, but it is a poor solo kill window.
- Powerball popping Move Quick is often more important than the damage.
- Do not fight inside a mushroom trail unless Teemo is already locked and killable.

TristanaEven
Rammus can punish Tristana's Rapid Fire autos hard, but Rocket Jump and Buster Shot give her two tools to break the engage if he commits too early.
Watch for Buster Shot knocks you out of Taunt range or ends your Tremors uptime before her real health bar is threatened.
How to beat
Approach with Powerball but do not panic-Taunt before she chooses between Rocket Jump and Buster Shot. If she jumps aggressively or uses Buster Shot to peel too early, immediately re-close and Taunt during Rapid Fire so Defensive Ball Curl and Thorn effects punish her autos.
Later Late Tristana's range makes the side-lane duel harder to start, but if Rammus reaches her she still hates being forced to attack him. In teamfights, come from flank or fog; straight rolling through vision lets her layer Jump and Buster Shot too cleanly.
- Save Taunt for after Rocket Jump if she has room behind her.
- Rapid Fire is your best punish window, not something to run from with W active.
- Buster Shot can push you out of Tremors, so cast Tremors after you know you can stay attached.

TryndamereFavoured
Tryndamere is forced to basic attack into Defensive Ball Curl and Taunt, so Rammus controls most of the duel even though Undying Rage prevents a clean early finish.
Watch for Undying Rage denies your lethal window and lets Tryndamere keep critting while you wait for him to become killable.
How to beat
Let him come into melee, then use Defensive Ball Curl before Taunt so his forced attacks hit your highest armor state. Do not spend every cooldown into the first low-health moment; hold Powerball or a slow item timing to stay with him after Undying Rage ends.
Later Rammus remains one of the better answers to Tryndamere in side lane because armor, attack-speed slows, and forced attacks all punish his plan. In teamfights, peel him off your backline with Taunt instead of diving past him unless his ultimate is already down.
- Mocking Shout reducing your AD matters less than his forced autos into W.
- Do not chase Spinning Slash before Undying Rage; make him use it to exit after.
- Taunt near the end of Undying Rage if possible, not at the very start.

Twisted FateFavoured
Twisted Fate can stun and poke, but he is too immobile and fragile to survive Rammus's close-range lockdown in a fair duel.
Watch for Gold Card from Pick A Card stops your engage long enough for Twisted Fate to create space or finish a channel plan.
How to beat
Watch his card cycle and avoid rolling straight in when Gold Card is locked unless you can absorb it and still reach him. Once Gold Card is gone, Powerball into Taunt and Tremors; he has no real escape in a straight duel.
Later Twisted Fate avoids side-lane duels by using Gate and Destiny to play the map. Late game, Rammus should punish his arrival point or force him to hold Gold Card defensively, because catching him before he ports is more valuable than chasing after the play starts.
- A locked Gold Card is a warning to angle, not to stop pressuring completely.
- If Destiny reveals your flank, reset instead of forcing a visible Powerball through his team.
- Blue or Red Card windows are your cleanest all-in moments.

TwitchFavoured
Twitch melts targets when free-firing, but Rammus's armor, Taunt, and reflected damage punish Spray and Pray harder than Twitch can usually survive alone.
Watch for Ambush lets Twitch choose the starting distance and can turn your Powerball path into a blind chase.
How to beat
Do not roll randomly after a missing Twitch; hold defensive positioning until Ambush reveals or use vision to cut off his exit. When he opens with Spray and Pray, Powerball through the firing line, Taunt immediately, and keep Defensive Ball Curl active while his attack speed works against him.
Later Twitch is a massive teamfight threat if he opens from stealth before Rammus finds him. Late game, your job is to mark likely Ambush angles and save Taunt for Twitch's reveal rather than spending it on the first visible frontliner.
- Spray and Pray is dangerous for your team but excellent for your reflected damage if you reach him.
- Venom Cask's slow can ruin a straight-line Powerball, so come from the side when possible.
- Do not disengage at high Deadly Venom stacks if Expunge is ready unless you are already out of range.

VayneUnfavoured
Vayne is one of the worst duelists for Rammus because Silver Bolts bypasses his armor plan and Condemn plus Final Hour make sticking to her unreliable.
Watch for Condemn breaks your melee contact and can stun you into a wall, wasting your Taunt and Tremors window.
How to beat
Never give her a wall angle for free; approach diagonally and force Condemn before committing Taunt. If Condemn is down, Powerball onto her immediately and Taunt before Final Hour tumbles create distance, but leave if she survives the first lockout.
Later Vayne wins most finished-build side-lane duels if she has space, while Rammus is still useful in teamfights because one good Taunt can kill her through allied focus. Fight her from fog or with teammates nearby; a visible solo roll down a lane is exactly what she wants.
- Silver Bolts means stacking armor alone does not solve this duel.
- Stand away from walls even if it means taking an extra auto before engaging.
- Final Hour invisibility can break your target tracking after Tumble, so hold movement toward her likely exit, not her old position.

VeigarEven
Rammus can kill Veigar if he reaches him, but Event Horizon and Veigar's burst punish a predictable engage before Rammus gets control.
Watch for Event Horizon creates a stun cage that stops Powerball paths and can strand you inside Dark Matter and Primordial Burst range.
How to beat
Do not roll straight through the center of Event Horizon; bait the cage with a short Powerball angle, then re-enter when the edge stun is unavailable. Once he misses or spends it, close fast and Taunt before he can layer Dark Matter under your feet.
Later Late Veigar's burst makes careless engages dangerous even for a tank, but he still hates being reached by Rammus. In teamfights, force Event Horizon early for your carries, then either peel back or use the opening to dive him with magic resistance already built.
- The cage edge is the danger; standing still inside can be better than clipping the wall.
- Primordial Burst is less scary into low AP Rammus than into mages, but the base burst still matters.
- If Event Horizon is down, Veigar has almost no answer to Powerball into Taunt.

WarwickEven
Warwick's sustain and magic damage let him grind through long fights, while Rammus punishes his attack pattern and can control the duel during Defensive Ball Curl.
Watch for Infinite Duress suppresses you while applying repeated damage and on-hit pressure, stealing your timing for Defensive Ball Curl or Taunt.
How to beat
Have Defensive Ball Curl running before he can ult if you expect the all-in; casting it late may lose the trade window. Fight in short cycles around his Hungering Strike cooldown, then Taunt after Infinite Duress or when he commits to Hunter's Call autos.
Later Warwick can win extended side-lane fights if his sustain is unchecked, but Rammus brings stronger anti-carry engage in 5v5s. Late game, do not duel him forever without grievous wounds or help; use your CC to stop his suppression target from being followed up on.
- Hunter's Call makes his autos more valuable but also makes your reflected damage more valuable.
- Hungering Strike is the sustain check; trades look won until he bites back.
- Taunting after Infinite Duress often gives a better full-control chain than taunting before it.

WukongEven
Wukong's armor shred and Decoy let him outplay Rammus's first lock, but if he stays and autos through Defensive Ball Curl he loses the grind.
Watch for Decoy breaks your target timing and can waste Taunt or Tremors while the real Wukong repositions.
How to beat
Do not Taunt the instant he dashes in with Nimbus Strike; wait for Decoy or confirm the real target's movement. After Decoy is down, activate Defensive Ball Curl and force him to choose between eating reflected damage in melee or giving up the trade.
Later Wukong's late-game teamfight engage is usually more explosive, while Rammus is better at locking one carry after the knockup. In side lane you can hold him if you respect Decoy, but in 5v5s save Powerball to interrupt his access to your carries after Cyclone starts.
- Crushing Blow's armor reduction makes trading without W much worse.
- A stationary Wukong after a short trade is often Decoy; do not dump Taunt into it.
- Cyclone can carry him out of your Tremors center, so stay ahead of his spin path.

ZileanEven
Zilean is hard to catch because of Time Warp and Rewind, but he lacks the sustained damage to kill Rammus quickly unless he repeatedly kites bomb trades.
Watch for Time Warp slows Rammus or speeds Zilean, denying the contact range Rammus needs for Taunt.
How to beat
Do not start Powerball from a distance where Time Warp simply cancels it; approach from fog or after he uses the speed-up to reposition. If you reach him, hold enough damage to force Chronoshift, then stay near the revive point with Tremors or Powerball ready rather than blowing everything before it triggers.
Later Zilean almost never wants a true duel; he wins late fights by reviving the carry Rammus dives. Your job is to make Chronoshift come out early, then swap targets or re-engage the revive location after the protection is gone.
- Rewind means one missed engage can become two Time Warps against you.
- A bomb on yourself is less important than losing contact range before Taunt.
- If Chronoshift is active, use Taunt to hold him in place near the revive timing instead of trying to burst through it.
